More science fact than fantasy in this and behind this. The lyrics definitely help if you understand the terms. Love your facial expressions - mix of love and envy? This version was special for Floor because her parents were there. Floor has been headbanging since she was 15! It does get easier!

Floor is the only being on earth who can switch from deadly valkyrie over loving goddess to emotionally distant, unearthy ethereal power in milliseconds. Not only in voice control, but in her total behavior and appearance. The demanding movements and the head banging, the loving smiles and motivational gestures, the almost unnaturally stillness and set face - I'd say she's not only a great singer but an awesome actress, but to be honest, I wouldn't bet this to be all acting. Good chance she really is not from this planet. Which would make her being part of this performance hilariously ironical - and indeed the Greatest Show on Earth.

I've always thought of "We Were Here" as the cry of a civilization--of a species--which knows it is dying, imploring the universe to at least recognize that it existed. That if there will be one last, final message that Humanity will scream to the Heavens with its dying breath, these will be the words: *"We Were Here"* Also, around the time when you noticed the Star Wars "pew-pew" sound effect (which I've never actually noticed before), there's also references to multiple other songs and musical genres, including the classical piece played on the Harpsichord (Bach, I believe??), followed by the riff from Metallica's "Enter Sandman", followed by a few beats worth of dubstep breakdown. The whole minute or so section is like a history of music.

Little correction:the title is 'The greatest show on Earth' after he book of Richard Dawkins about evolution. He is actually speaking in the beginning and at the end. The fireworks for example represent the 'Big bang'. It is not a fantasy song, but poetry and music to portray the history of the universe, the story of life, our common human journey, and the scientific quest for knowledge
@darkiee694 жыл бұрын
That part of the song is 4,6. That's the age of the earth. I think the fireworks represent the wild, young earth with earthquakes and volcanoes everywhere. The big bang was almost ten billion years earlier.
@NativeNewMexican4 жыл бұрын
@@darkiee69 Correct, it's not the big bang, nowhere close. It may, however, represent be the crashes of various celestial bodies into earth creating the atmosphere including, but not limited to, the massive collision that created the moon.
@adrammelech63234 жыл бұрын
Fireworks are definitely not the big bang I think they are stars being born.
@k.v.76814 жыл бұрын
@@darkiee69 My take on it is that "4.6" represents the gravitational collapse, when gases became cold enough so that their weight made them collapse in on themselves, forming solid matter and creating the sun and "terrestrial embryos", rocks that would become planets (including Earth). If that theory (which is the most commonly accepted) is true, the sound it made must have been massive, thus being more "BANG" than the actual Big Bang that must have been quite discreet. Making the fireworks used quite fitting.

A late happy birthday from Denmark 🇩🇰 🌹🎈🎂🇩🇰🎉🎁 And that was probably the ultimate birthday gift to yourself - this is pure magic, performed by the greatest Symphonic Metal band on Earth. And this was the end of a 2 hour concert... You just lean back and open up for those impressions Nightwish will give you - just like you do now. When you listen to this one again, or maybe the Wembley version which is slightly different, you will discover new gems and facets. (a small detail, it is a Uillean pipe, the Irish version of the bag pipe - and in the Wembley version Troy uses an E-bow!) . And the best birthday gift you can give yourself is a promise to yourself that you will go to one of their larger European concerts (European because of the pyrotechnics and other gimmicks). It's not possible to describe - you have to be there and feel the experience. Great reaction from you again 👍 🤘 🤘 🤘

A red lipstick day is a special and beautiful day! Happy birthday lovely Katriinka... hope your day is blessed with music and joy. This is such a great piece and I am so glad you reacted to it. The story, emotions and the message is so important. I think this is the last show of a long tour, at home in Finland - Floor's parents were in there to watch her in the crowd too... probably a little incentive to provoke a bit more emotions. Marko is a machine vocally too and Troy adds warmth on harmonies. The end reminds me of the hero's welcome at the end of Star Wars - what a wat to end a show. You have to listen to it several times to hear all the undertones of what is going on in the musical mix. in a few seconds from the harpsichord and classical bits of Mozart and Beethoven to Metallica they covered the history of music and art.
