Chester’s voice spoke to my teenage soul and took me through those messy years. I will be forever grateful for Linkin Park!

💯 % . When I felt so lost and suicidal as a teen and in my 20s, their music made me feel like there was someone down in that deep hole with me who understood everything I couldn't say whilst I was suffering.

Chester's Death as a 32 year old affected me more than any other celebrity death since I've been alive. He had no idea how influential Linkin Park was on me and many of my peers teenage years.❤❤❤

Georgina!! I’m SO beyond thrilled that you chose to analyze Chester’s voice!! He was a FANTASTIC vocalist. However, I’m a bit sad that the video clips that you reviewed showcases only his singing voice (and they weren’t his best performances either). He was absolutely amazing at also his screaming voice and distortion abilities. I’ve heard from other voice coaches that the way in which Chester sings is actually extremely good vocal form to protect his vocal cords, unlike many other rock musicians. I’ll have to browse through your videos, but in case you haven’t reviewed him yet, would you please review Steven Tyler of Aerosmith’s voice? The man is in his 70s and still sings amazingly live!!! Love you!!! Thanks so much!! ❤️❤️❤️

Georgina, I loved you already and now I love you even more. Chester is the voice that got me loving English music because of the rawness and emotionality in his voice. Since him, I find Rihanna is the only one who even approaches the same level of emotionality during a live performance. But Chester will always be no. 1. Like Ri, a lot of people find his voice whiny, but just the same there are thousands who find it singularly raw and emotional. Thank you so much Georgina for the in-depth vocal analysis. Love Chester and love this channel! There will never be another Chester Charles Bennington :”), but I’ll settle for Rihanna (who is also great) in the mean time. I’n glad you feel the same magic that I do from Bennington’s voice!

I think it should be noted that these are Chester's best singing vocals- he was one hell of a screamer too, and it always disappoints me when video compilations of his voice don't show that, because he was AMAZING. Also, just out of curiosity: overall, how would you rank him and his vocals? Because I've seen some vocal coaches react to him and say his technique and vocals are incredible, and have seen some who had a lot of notes and stuff they didn't like...

Chester Bennington was a lyric tenor and possessed a three octave tenor vocal range, beginning at the low bass G (G2), and reaching its peak at the tenor G (G5). His vocals showed tremendous durability for the entirety of his career.

I had trouble understanding him in all but the last song. I did like the sound of his voice though. I love that last song, especially when One Voice Children's Choir sings it, they have so much emotion because of the reason they sing it. You know that they mean every word, and they add messages of hope. Lexie Walker was one of their members until she went solo. Savannah Shaw of the famous father daughter duo Matt & Savannah Shaw is also a former member.

Chester Bennington had the same vocal coach as Michael Jackson, namely Seth Riggs. In an interview Seth Riggs did with redbullmusicacademy he talked about working with him: Q: You worked with Tina Turner on Tommy - can you talk about what that experience was like, preparing her to sing “Acid Queen?” A: I was introduced to her by Ann-Margret, whom I also was working with. She would only be singing [imitates Tina Turner’s upper register], that kind of thing. And she says, “People really love that.” I say “Yes, but it’s abuse.” And I said “Of course, with the money that you have made and the young men that you’ve married, you can pay for anything. You don’t have to sing that, but it would help you if you used [singing in a lower chest register].” She said “Yeah, but that doesn’t give you the character that this does.” I said “I know it doesn’t, but that’s what people do that want to save their voices for a longer term.” That’s sort of the same thing that Michael did when he went [impersonates a Michael Jackson shriek]. But he goes in the chest and then flips into falsetto so he wouldn’t hurt himself. Look at this young man that just killed himself, hung himself. Chester [Bennington]. I showed Chester this. He said “But that’s so easy.” I said, “Chester, you have a wonderful facility, but look. We’re sitting in a car now right? Who is that little baby and that lady sitting over there?” He said “That’s my baby and her nurse.” “I see. And who is the lady with the older child sitting in front of her?” “That’s my child, my older child, and my wife.” “What kind of a car are we sitting in?” “We’re sitting in a Mercedes-Benz.” I said, “How much was it?” He said “This was a special one. The fellow didn’t have the money for it and we got it on sale.” But I said, “How much?” He said, “$150,000.” I said, “Wouldn’t you like to continue this, the way you have it now?” I didn’t know about the other things that plagued him, because I had to read about what they were. We didn’t get into that. I’m not a psychiatrist. But I said, “Could you do it? I know that you pull up a lot of chest when you do it the old way, but the new way, you don’t. So, make you a deal. Get me half and half. Do it ‘half-bad.’” He said “OK, I’ll try that.” It gets them the character they want but without killing their voice.
