"And you're angry, and you should be, it's not fair" is the bit that sends me. I, like many people, felt hella guilty for being angry in my grief, and that was the line I needed most. It's a common and dangerous misconception that the only emotion we should feel while battling grief is sadness. We feel ALL the emotions, and they ALL matter, and they ALL help us process loss in their own way. The whole song feels to me like a friend is saying, "It's ok to feel what you're feeling. I've been there, and even if it seems like no one cares or understands...I do."
@LongandWeirdName Жыл бұрын
Yeah. It's the one more chair thing that gets me. It is the perfect example of a reminder pulling the floor from under you. You're going about your business. Going through the motions of every day life. You set up for dinner. And suddenly you remember. No plate needed at that chair. That's where they sat. And never will. Hits you like a tonne of bricks, every time you get one of those tiny details that pull on that huge gaping hole in your world.

@@Imnottrainedforthis Same. Explore the depth of sadness being felt through songs like Hurt by Johnny Cash, nobody can save me by linkin park, or coming down by FFDP. Used it to process and dwell within a medium where it seemed appropriate. Then finding the songs with uplifting melodies to try and bounce back becomes a cathartic journey to try and climb out of the pit felt around me through the lyrics of bands who have provided me a haven. Favorite one is reason to fight by disturbed, but always end up coming back to one more light to try and remind myself to do my best to not just become a statistic. Mental health is a bitch, keep fighting everyone.

No, J R. It doesn't. It makes you dejected. It doesn't strip you of all aspirations, hopes, dreams, emotions, feelings, wants, and even cravings. It doesn't turn you into a dried up, empty, stone cold husk of a person going about their life perfectly smiling and cheerful, because they don't care anymore and can put on a face for the people around them just so they stop bothering with you(because why should they, if you don't). It rips a hole in your chest to squeeze at your heart and punches you right in the stomach. It greases up your leg joints so it's difficult to control yourself from falling to your knees. It puts army issue sandbags on your shoulders making you feel heavy and slow. It makes you dejected. Not depressed. Chester was depressed. Chris was depressed. I am depressed(and on medication, plus going through therapy). This song doesn't make you depressed.

@Slinky TV So how does it not make sense? If it'll clarify, I'm referring to the fact that some singers' voices are famous and iconic for being as unique as they are. Chester was one of those singers.
@disrupt945 жыл бұрын
@Slinky TV Bennington's strenght is in his variety and tonal quality. Never heard JMK perform acoustic ballads like chester did for instance, though his live consistency is just brilliant and he's by no means bad at melodic singing. " Freddy Mercury too," Mercury struggled hard with his high notes live. Freddie was fantastic at expressing himself, but there's a whole world of vocals that he barely touched. MJK and Bennington were superb at adding compression and distortions for those raspy high notes, taking it all the way to straight up screaming. Closest Freddie's gone to this was give me the prize imo. " Chester is great and all but don’t said there will never be anyone who has his talent, there are way better singers, the world is crazy. " What constitutes a "great singer" is personal, and often arbitrary. The singer with the widest range might not have the best tonal quality, pitch controlll, live consistency etc... Unless we agree on critieria, trying to pinpoin the greatest talent is nothing more than subjective interpretation.

@@jesusjimenez6755 Thats true, he had alcohol problems during that time and i guess touring with 3 bands took a toll on his voice. But having said all that, throughout his career he was one of the most consistent artists ive ever heard, and he always transmitted his feelings throughout his performances, just like in this one. With that said, I would really not call chester inconsistent. Chris Cornell had just passed before this performance, so obviously there is a lot of emotion in the air especially because the song is written about a woman who died of cancer and is generally about the loss of a friend/family member.

His death was really rough for me, even tho I never knew him in RL, I've cried for days. Rest in Piece Chester and all the others who don't have to suffer anymore. Much strength for the Families and friends. One more Light remindes me of Breaking the Habit kinda.

One More Light, Leave Out All The Rest, Shadow Of The Day and the sort, sends chills all over my body and my tear receptors can't hold back 🥺🥺

That song hits me like a sledge hammer. Myself dealing with PTSD and sometimes I have had thoughts of ending it all to find peace I understand how heavy and dark things can be. Lots of times people don't reach out so if you feel like some one is having a hard time reach out to them insted and be that person that may be the difference.

Yeah I'm sorry for what you had to go through man. It sucks, due to how my lifelong best friend took his own life I now have PTSD. Just know you arent alone.

Yeah, had a few friends go that way. It's rough being a survivor for sure. I just pray for peace for whoever's hurting.

3:31 is the most relatable moment for me. I love this song for a slightly different reason for the context but it’s still a beautiful song.

This is my eight year old daughter’s favorite song because it reminds her of my late grandmother. She sings it every time it’s on and we all cry and smile together.

What a massive loss...Their few first albums were so flawless too, used to play them on repeat a lot. RIP.

There was an interview afterwards with another band member talking about the rehearsals. This was the furthest Chester made it through this song that day, a very moving performance and definitely one of my favourites.

Given what happened to Chester not long after, this song is 10 times more emotional 😭

It's been a few months, and I just happen to stumble upon this video. I was there, you can actually see me in the video the whole time, in the front-center, with the dodger hat. Any how, witnessing this live was indescribable. Soo much emotion. Soo raw. I have seen LP 7 times; this by far was probably top 3 performances. You can tell throughout the concert afterwards that he literally was not ok, but still give it his all. Emotionally powerful.

Beth seems to be the sweetest woman ever. I lost my mum to Cancer last year and I so wish I could talk to her( Beth ) personally about how I'm going and love for music. She really seems like that big sister we all need in our lives. Love your videos. Thank you :)

I grew up listening to Chris and Chester. And I've dealt with anxiety and depression most of my life. It broke me when I hear the news about them. And 3 years later this still makes me cry. But on the bright side we got so experience greatness while they were here. And I thank them for that.
