AJ is superb in every genre, but when she turns back to her roots, jazz, we are always treated to something special. I grew up listening to Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong and the other jazz greats. Let me add my two cents: this version is great, but the piano diaries "jazzy" version is probably the BEST jazz singing performance I've heard in the last 50 years! It is a masterpiece. Imagine having a toolbox with all the latest gadgets, imagine what kind of ornaments you could create. We'll, in that jazzy version she uses virtually ALL or most of her vocal tools in that one performance. One gets the feeling that in that one song you are immersed in a whole orchestra of sound, that in 3 minutes you've had a totally immersive experience that will stay with for days. So, try it!

She wrote this version two years ago with a lot of other Songs together with Toby Gad. Toby told a lot about this in some interviews. He was also down why the label doesn't released this at her last EP and later he decided to support Angelina with his piano diaries 🎹 and the label allowed him to release this now as an independent producer. Two years later they changes it now to a more melancholy view back to the occasion of the lyrics. A very beautiful jazzy version with more of her vocal skills ❤ My favorite version now until the next One. She's on way of Love and happiness 💞 for all humans. This is the power version of this song that is similar to the studio version in the Music video, but better, since she is always better when she sings live. She & Toby co-wrote the lyrics & melody. She just released an emotional jazzy/blues version that is like a totally different song & it is by far my favorite version. I may have mentioned this before - In addition to the 150+ covers Angelina has sung over the years of her career - she has also been writing songs since she was 10 years old - So far 13 have been released: Oslo, What is Life?, Shield, Million Miles, 7th Heaven, Love Don't Let Me Go, Now I'm The Fool, Fire and Rain, All My Fault, Good in Goodbyes, Diamond, Our Time, and Bad Valentine. Angelina has stated that she has written about 100 songs that have yet to be released. Her songs are taken from her Journal writings. When she was 10/11 she rewrote the Lyrics to Amy Winehouse's Back to Black and Rehab to make them more age-appropriate at that time. In addition, Angelina performed an unreleased original song Princess of Ruins that she has only performed in concert - if and when that is officially released it will be her 14th original. She also performed two more original unreleased songs at her Los Angeles concert: Thank You and What Am I To You?

For me personally it 's not this version but her most recent "jazzy" version, maybe it's just because of the recording, the drums are too much in my face in this, the jazzy version is much more subdued in regard of the instrumentals, and she really soars on that one vocally... no heavy beats in there... To answer the question of why the pop version is not on the radio, it’s because the song matured between when it was originally recorded to when she started performing the song live, even though the studio performance was released after the live versions. However, Angelina herself revised the song and that’s how they came up with the Piano Dairies version which was released last as a Jazz version, which did make the charts, and is still on the Jazz chart, and is arguably the best of the three versions she has done.

@nfpnone8248 The jazzy version is/was on the iTunes Jazz charts but has dropped a bit.. I don’t t believe it is on the radio yet however and I’m not sure how it’s doing in streaming compared to the pop version Obviously there is less competition in a specific genre like jazz than pop. The main reason either version is probably not on the radio is that it is much more difficult to get a hit song these days. In this digital age there are over 100,000 songs released per day. It’s impossible for all these songs to be heard, even more difficult for a relatively young artist. Makes you wonder how many great songs never see the light of day.. Recently Toby explained how these days record labels don’t promote their young and unknown artists. It is expected that these artists promote themselves and once they get that one viral hit, I assume through streaming, then the label will start to promote them. Seems a little backwards to me but that’s unfortunates the business now. Sabrina Carpenter is 25 years old and has really made it big that past couple of years but she has been around for about 10 years. You just never know when or if there will be a breakout. As far as different versions go, it’s not unusual for Angelina to do different takes on the same song including If I Were a Boy. With Million Miles she had the more pop studio version and the stripped down “Live in Studio” version. With What is Life she recorded it with full band than did a stripped down home version. She’s still promoting the pop version of Bsd Valentine and that’s what she performed in concert so I don’t think she sees the jazzy version as the definitive version. Just different takes of the same song.

The jazzy version Angelina does of this song on the Piano Diaries is beautiful but I also think you would enjoy the official video made for this song since the audio is better and her vocals shine through. She has an amazing EP of originals titled "Old Enough" that is full of gems. My favourite from that EP is Good in Goodbyes but really the whole EP is incredible. All of the tunes on Old Enough are radio-worthy.

Dounia, I pray you and your family stay safe, and I'm sorry you have to go through what your'e experiencing. You said you were waiting for an original song from Angelina. She has approximately a dozen originals at this point going back to when she was 11 to 12 years old. My next recommendation for an original would be A Million Miles, written when she was 14 and performed at 15, in the studio and as a music video. She wrote it as a tribute to her grandfather who had passed away, and also it is dedicated to any of us who have lost a loved one. It is a sad song yet uplifting and hopeful. It brings tears to many of us who listen as it is so beautiful. I would also recommend 7th Heaven which was recorded not that long after. That is very catchy and upbeat and a song about never giving up on your dreams. Bad Valentine, a couple of weeks ago, was released in a slower jazz version with piano. It gives the song a totally different feel and I know that you would enjoy it as we all do.

Dounia. That was such an amazing Reaction. Angelina said at this concert. Let's get this to number one guys. This concert was the day "Bad Velintine " was released. The Angels/Fans have been talking to each other saying, contact your local Radio stations, and get them to play bad Velintine. Or any other song of Angelina's that has been released. You will find them on Spotify, etc now including bad Valintine. If you would like too, feel free to contact your local radio station. On Angelina Jordon Official youtube channel. ❤❤️❤️❤️👣 There are two versions on her KZbin channel that were recorded in a studio. They are very different, almost two different songs. Every time she sings a song it it is slightly different, depends on her mood I suppose. I was at this concert and Angelina is actually very humble and shy when she is just talking. So happy to see you again with Angelina. It’s a shame that we still have cave men mentality wanting to wage war for power. Let’s pray it is over soon and the bad guys are played to rest. There are at least a half dozen versions of this song available on YT. My favorite is the newer slowed down /jazz that is audio only at this time. I hope you react to it. pls do jazzy version. it's her best song to date and a wholly redo of this. this one is on the attack of the man. she indicated it's her first break up song. written when she was 16 with toby. the jazzy version is written now as a melancholy reflection.

Wonderful comments. Totally agree--a lot of her songs should be on the radio. Also agree with your opinion on what radio content is like. Her head voice is getting better and more expansive all the time. You wish to hear something special must do the "Piano Diaries" version of this song. Jazzy and complete different feel. There at least three high quality recordings of this... One is the official music video. Arguably the best live performance was on a small stage months before the official release (on James Thiel's channel), with only a 3 piece behind her with her on top. And my personal favorite is the Jazzy version currently on the Jazz charts which only 2 weeks old If I recollect correcly. No video unfortunately, at least not yet.

I really enjoyed your reaction! She co-wrote this when 16 and this live version matches her original recording… I’m over it, I’m moving on, I warned you, good by! The Jazz version is a total remake showing the emotions she was going through when deciding to end the relationship. At times it’s almost like she is crying through the lyrics. There are 3 or 4 versions she has recorded of this song and many have there favorite , but there are NO bad versions for me each brings a different mood with it . And remember this was recorded with Cellphone 📱 off the speakers not a mixing board which just shows how phenomenal AJ voice is

I'm sure others will tell you that she has multiple versions of this wonderful song (which she co-wrote with Toby, and one other). This version happens to be one of my favorites, but the the number one for me is her bluesy/jazz version, greatly slowed down (as she loves to do), which is the version also used in Toby's Piano Diaries. Other than that, I'm very sorry you're caught up in this mess in the Middle East and pray you're able to stay safe in a world gone bonkers. I will say no more, just please stay safe.

Hi Dounia! Great reaction! This song has the potential, no, the right to get a Grammy! Although it's a collaboration with Toby Gad, she probably wrote the lyrics and also had a hand in the music. She's not only a singer but also a songwriter and a musician. She has rearranged all the covers she sung. All the versions are slightly different. And I agree that the instruments were a little bit loud in the live version which doesn't mean it isn't very enjoyable!
