Very good analysis. The music arrangement and production isn’t jazz, but Angelina’s singing is definitely jazzy! And the line «When you should have been breathing fire and showed me you’re on fire» is pure jazz with a distinct scat feel to it. So Angelina is mixing in a lot of flavours and spices here, as she is apt to do!

Nice reaction Dounia! I thought I saw you getting a bit emotional during your first listen ... she does that to many of us, often. As for 007 and soundtracks - she has done a number of songs that makes one say the same thing. Angelina herself has said that she thinks of her music as being cinematic. I think her voice will definitely be used in movies, and can almost guarantee there is a 007 soundtrack in her future. And - given her unearthly ability to portray and convey emotion in a way that convinces you it's based on lived experience (when often that was impossible, given her age), not to mention her charisma and photogenicity, she could be a brilliant actress as well. One of her idols/influences, Elvis Presley, took an acting path not too long after he burst into public recognition.

It's like I said 8 years ago that she will create her own genre. I agree with most of your assessment. Things I hear are based in both Blues and Jass. In the phrase " you've should have breathing fire" Was a "scat" rooted in jass and absolutely brilliant choice. I also said it's not jazz when I heard it, she and Toby aren't swinging it (Toby isn't a jazz guy...) ... so the title "jazzy version" is a bit misleading, but tbh I don't care, it's the most beautiful version anyway and I don't mind people making that connection in their brains "jazz=beautiful"... to hear you sing that in Arabic would be amazing, actually you could make it jazz! Yes, by all means sing it. Do it the way you want to--I am sure Angelina would insist on that. She seems to give vocal coaches an overpowering urge to sing when they listen to the right song that really connects. I will leave you a suggestion from her Vegas concert and on the Bond subject she did "Diamonds are Forever" when she was 11 and at her Vegas concert. I really appreciate your professional and personal insights so much ☺ If I had to summarize this version, I would have to say this is pure Angelina, pouring all her feelings and emotions into her delivery of the song with the unique ability her outstanding voice and timbre enables her to project to others. That's why I'm practically sure the vocal arrangement is mostly her doing, complemented by Toby's impeccable instrumental production and recording. As someone said, thankfully there's no autotune here 1) because she doesn't need it and 2) because if badly done it could ruin and lose the wonderful nuances her natural voice has. Totally agree with the Bond movie soundtrack.. well, any movie for that matter would benefit from this track.
