FYI, when 11 yo she was asked, to be the "bevor" artist to Nora Jones in a Concert in Seoul/Korea. To my knowledge this concert was a fundraiser for emergency vaccinations. She sang in front of more than 40.000 people and Nora and the hosts asked her to do an encore. It is wondrous that she is still humble end friendly with very good manners. Stay save and healthy. German greetings.

Your reaction is, without doubt, the finest I have heard of her performance by a vocal coach. I I agree with everything you said. I have been listening to since she won NGT back in 2014 and never cease to be amazed by her talent. I’m 82 years old in April so it would be nice to survive long enough to see her blossom on the worlds stage. I remember when she was on NGT and was walking to the stage for her audition. Someone asked her what she wanted to be and she said, “I want to be a superstar.” I’ve always thought that she was but now she will certainly have her desire fulfilled. I look forward to seeing what her next performance will be. Thanks so much for posting. I certainly look for your future reactions. Oh, by the way, you’re a redhead, my favourite!!!

From the womb? Have this in mind: Obstitrician is examining the patient, a Mrs, Astar, placing his stethescope upon her 8 months pregnant belly to listen to the heartbeat and movement sounds of mom and expected baby. His nurse notices his perplexed for a few moments expression and after he has told Mrs. Astar that everything's fine and says I'll be seeing you for the birthing next month and ending the visit and letting her go, asks the doctor what was perhaps wrong in the aforesaid moments in his examination. The doctor replies that, somehow there must have been a radio on somewhere in the building that he was picking up as he could hear a young woman singing in Mrs. Astar, but of course, that would be impossible.

Christy (sp?) - I have watched most of the videos on KZbin with reactions to Angelina Jordan and her performance of Bohemian Rhapsody. Yours is far and away the best I have seen. It is obvious that you are a trained vocalist and vocal coach. Your explanations of why Angelina can do what she does are the mark of a true professional. You describe the physical and emotional sides of singing in a clear and concise manner. I'm an old guy who was a former jazz musician and music teacher (Parkinson's Disease forced me to stop). I like to think, though, that I know a little bit about how hard it is to be a musician. Jack Benny used to say, "You have to practice to even be bad!" Even though Angelina was born with an amazing gift, we know that she works very hard to be the best she can be. I just hope she has good representation that keeps her best interests at heart and are not just in it for the money. Thank you for all you do to bring more beauty to the world!

Thank YOU for bringing your beauty to bear in this space. You are LOVED!
@robertcarlson28075 жыл бұрын
@@TheVoiceLoveCo Thank you for your very kind reply. I love that you are so soulful and spiritual. I'm sure if I ever heard you sing, that would be abundantly obvious. I did have a couple of other thoughts about Angelina and would like to know your opinion. Do you think she has absolute pitch? In her a cappella opening, I didn't hear an anchor note played for her (that could just be editing for TV), but it seems she just started in on her own. She was pitch perfect throughout her performance, so that's why I feel she has "the gift". More of a comment than a question - Being a "jazzer", I think of Ella Fitzgerald as the standard for vocal embellishments. She used her voice like an instrument - ad libbing, always within the changes. You can hear riffs played by some of the great horn and keyboard players she performed with, along with her own incredible style. I put Mel Torme into that category as well. Angelina gets it. Never too much, just the right amount of embellishment when she feels it. Of the more recent singers, I can listen to Whitney Houston, Diana Krall, Mariah Carey or Amy Winehouse, but the great majority of the new ones only seem to do, as you say, gymnastics. Maybe I'm just too old and set in my ways to get what they are doing. Keep peace in your life!
@ClandOp4 жыл бұрын
@@robertcarlson2807 Robert, just now reading your comments. Yes, no question that Angelina has absolute (i.e. "perfect") pitch -- and has from at least the age of 8, which you can easily see from her Norway's Got Talent performance of Summertime. And I love your list of "more recent" singers, to which I would add Alison Krauss, Tony Bennett (he's still around!), and Lady Gaga (if you haven't seen them together, just search for Tony Bennett - Lady Gaga jazz performances). Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse were inspirations to Angelina, and she covers a few of their songs. All the best!

This is the best format I have seen for a vocal coach reaction. I really like that you first listened to the performance and fully absorbed the artistry she has crafted. _Then_ went back and gave all your detailed thoughts... with well done editing. I have seen so many vocal coach reactions to Angelina (some on huge channels) where they pause and talk literally every 5 seconds. I really don't care about the pauses on my end (I've heard it a hundred times), but I don't think anyone (even a vocal coach) can 'get' the high level art she has created here, when they break it into 25 segments. You are in my top 5 reactors for Angelina.... I'm just a little sad that you have only seen two of her performances. You said it all yourself at the end... people learning this skill and trying to find their style could really use Angelina as a guide. I really hope to see you do more of her stuff! She's got over 100 songs she has done and many of them are at this same elite level of performance.

@Fedor Ivanov That was so beautifully stated. I have a special contempt for those voice coaches who have "lost their way" by divorcing themselves from the artist's ability to connect and project emotion. They fall back on jargon, keyboard tapping to find a note, delving into the minutia of voice-box physiology, and anything else they can resort to in order to cover up the fact that they no longer understand the true source of what they are experiencing. I remember listening to Mahalia Jackson on a tiny b/w tv before going to church on Sunday and I remember my Great Uncle's 78rpm records of Beethoven, Tchaikovsky and Strauss. My only musical regret is I probably won't live to see and hear Angelina through her 30s, 40s and beyond. Quite often I find myself unable and unwilling to relinquish to other artists any of the precious time I have left. I'm going to look for her Grandfather when I get to Heaven and together with my family we are going to watch Angelina from above and patiently wait for, I hope, a very long and happy time for her arrival.

Thank you so much for a wonderful reaction to Angelina as an artist. Her voice is one of the most beautiful I have ever heard. There are many singers with a beautiful voice,, but few have her ability to rearrange a song & make it her style (jazzy), often better than the original. Sometimes she totally changes a song into a new one, like her version of Bohemian Rhapsody. She also completely changed the classic iconic song California Dreaming by the Mommas & the Pappas. It's absolutely beautiful & the surviving members of the band loved it so much they posted it on their IG. My favorite song of Angelina for the last 2 years has been Adele's A Million Years Ago, that is until this performance, so now it's #2. It is so much better than the original & well worth a reaction.

The most stunning, admirable, rich, so eloquent and knowledgeable expert reaction from a voice coach on KZbin! What is refreshing in your reaction, coach, is that during your expert observation of Angelina s performance, there was no frowning, no facial interrogation point, no smirks, but chills after chills, large smiles, pure enthusiasm, ha, ha, ha interjections, diverse signs of highest approval, love, joy, greatness recognition and happiness. In my lay opinion, if we say out of the womb talent, then it is not talent but gift, since talent means training, hard work, long hours of exercises to increase the talent, to make it blossom, from normal to amazing to incredible. The gift, so rare, comes at birth as it is and as it will be for a lifetime. Angelina will continue to vocally work in order to grow and to adapt her talent, while her gift will remain. Coach, do voice coaches make that distinction or is it for them a simple question of semantics?

To know that this version of Bohemian Rhapsody was created by Angelina herself and to be able to show so much emotion and feeling throughout her flawless performance speaks volumes of just how much talent this young woman has. How many other singers this age can capture the entire audience in just a couple of minutes, you could actually hear a pin drop towards the ending of the song, and as I looked around seeing people with mouths open, others with tears rolling down their faces and as the last note finishes the crowd erupts in rapture and gives her a standing ovation including all four judges. This was an amazing reaction. Thank you for not analyzing her performance to peaces. You only elevates it up to the level it truely belongs. The wonder of Angelinas talent is not understandable, but it is possible to understand that it is rather unique, and she is handeling it in a rather unique way as well. I also liked your sayings about the breathing beeing the fuel of the voice (so good you actually said that), and the greatness of her breath control. Maybe you`ve heard it, but Angelina actually says herself: "Singing is like breathing to me". And I believe her. And YES, she (and her family) has so far been abel to, as you said, navigate her growth and development in an awsome manner. This is such an important reaction! Beyond the absolute magic of this performance (I LOVE this gal, she's talent incarnate!), there's your discussion of an age group that is often under-discussed in the area of voice-growth (and possible pitfalls and developmental realities and vulnerabilities and on and on). They are not 'young versions of adults' or 'older version of young kids' but face a unique set of challenges. I'm so glad you touched on this and how it connects voice and personal sense and talent and skill and and and ... I don't know much about her, but from the little I'd gleaned, her family is supportive in a way that allows her grounding AND to spread her wings even as they continue to put her interests first. That's rare. She's rare, too. What an amazing young woman she is growing to be. Wow.

Angelina has over 120 videos. All are fantastic. Can you give us more reactions of her music and journey?

Thank you for that wonderful, professional breakdown of Angelina's style. You are superb! This young girl is one of a kind. And I agree, that she is a wonderful model for young singers to follow. But just as important, she is a wonderful role model for all young people to follow. Besides being the best young singer on the planet (IMO), she is kind, generous, loving, and unpretentious. And she spends a great deal of her time helping others that are less fortunate, especially through charity functions. Angelina has helped to raise millions of dollars for underprivileged children around the world. And she sings barefooted to symbolize the millions of children who have no parents and no shoes to wear. The world is a better place because Angelina is in it. Sadly, there is a rift with AGT (possibly because she refuses to sign with them) and they have not posted her performance (the one you are watching). I've never know AGT to not post a performance on their You Tube channel. So it's pretty certain that, even though she is the most talented act, she will not win this show. And for me, the faster she puts this show in her rear view mirror, the better. If you and your subscribers would like to hear something remarkable, and help Angelina in the process, go to one of the streaming services (Amazon Music Unlimited, Spotify, Apple, etc.) and download her recent studio production of this song. She published it yesterday under Angelina Jordan Inc. (indicating that she is in control of her professional future), and I have listened to it on my Amazon Music Unlimited account. It is ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!! Same acoustic arrangement (which is completely her version) but no crowd noise or video. I've seen and listened to all of Angelina's performances, and for me, this is the very best. It is absolutely FLAWLESS! Thanks again for your wonderful reaction to this young phenom. Your beauty and sincerity is a joy to experience. Wishing you the very best. Billy J

Billy J, Hear, hear. I do have a concern about this AGT almost shunning of Angelina. The two reasons she is here 1) Impress Simon. 2) Win AGT. As adults we can under stand all the reasons (slimey or otherwise). We wont like it but we know it is a failing of AGT and not Angelina. But she IS child. I hope this does not have the affect that it could have on her sense of self and her talent. Lord knows that is not the case. Here is to praying she understands that too. We are all very protective of her, she may need us at thia place in time. Peace

Singing from deep within your mind , heart and soul can bring much fruit that has never been tasted before. It allows the soul to express itself with out limit (THE POWER OF LOVE)

A professional singer take 20 years to be at that level of skills. And comes Angelina Jordan and sing like a Diva at 13 years old. This is mind blowing. Freddie must be happy wherever he is in Heaven.

I love your reaction and your enthusiasm. I didn't know whether you knew this or not you're probably do but Angelina didn't even finish in the top five because she said she would refuse to sign what's Simon Cowell's record label and when she told him that they told her then she would not went there was no way that she could win that show great reaction thank you

By the way again and I'm sure you probably already know this Angelina has now signed a massive record deal with Republic records and has already come out with one of her first singles called a million miles

Hello Christi - again a wonderful reaction for this young girl. Freddy would be proud of her and would certainly encourage her. She is - no question - a very talented artist and I hope that she will get or already has a management that doesn't burn her out but builds her up slowly. But - I think we all know how it works in these shows - in the end it's still people who decide and unfortunately there are mostly other things than talent that count. But she will certainly go her way and enrich the stages of this world. A star is born - let's all hope that she will enrich the stages of this world for many years and not be turned into an asteroid by her management... I hope you know what I mean

If you listen very closely to many music recordings, you will hear something that's not quite right. Maybe an obvious missed note (Buddy Rich used to call them "clams"), an intonation problem, or a group of people that are a little out of sync. I have listened to this performance by Angelina Jordan maybe 100 times and there is absolutely nothing I heard that went wrong. To my mind and ear, it was perfect! As astoundingly talented as she is, there has to be a shout out to the guitarist and pianist backing her up. What an amazing accompaniment to her singing. In addition to the obvious highlights throughout her performance, there were two that jumped out at me - her emphasis on two words. "Gotta leave your world behind and face the TRUTH" and "I sometimes wish I'd never been BORN at all". Subtle but very powerful. While Angelina has been compared to many different singers (and rightly so), I like to think of her as the Barbra Streisand of her generation. A superstar!

I have heard the old recording of Buddy Rich chewing out his band after a gig, "what do I get? Clams!" This comment made me giggle today. And I love your description of Angelina's performance. She truly is a wonder! Blessings, friend.

That effect at 1:17 "gooooo". Another reactor has called it "dangling vibrato." Rather unique, isn't it?

She's didn't come from no-where, she's been sing before huge crowds since she was 8, sang before world-leaders, Royalty and super-stars, she's not a to-be-star, Angelina is already a very famous singer who has been singing for 5 years with millions of followers. Of course she is self-assured, because she's a natural at singing, she's got her voice from the angels and she's in her own world when she starts to sing means she was not nervous even at 7 years old when she sang Billie Holiday.
