I have been an ardent fan of Barry's for the full length of his career. While he still sings very well, unfortunately, his breath support and tone has suffered somewhat during the last 10 years or so due to lifelong smoking (recently vaping) now compounding with aging. He is currently 78 and was around 65, I suspect, when the recording you used was made. His voice has lost a lot of clarity and power, his vibrato has widened, and he overstates many of his consonants. Finally, I attended a concert of his in 2018 and his voice began to fade about 3/4 of the way through the show, which I heard from other fans is very common these days. It may sound like I am putting him down, but I'm really not. I'm trying to be honest about where his current level of functioning is established. The man IS 78 years old. The singing apparatus, like the entire human body, changes and deteriorates with age. It happens to everyone. More than ever, I'm certain that Barry is relying on whatever good singing techniques or coaching tips he has picked up along the way to sustain his career (technically, he is an untrained singer, having become a reluctant performer). His fans, me among them, are very loyal and we accept his evolution with time, happy to have him with us and entertaining for as long as he is able.
