One of my favorite tunes right now. There are a few videos out there that are truly live (and they're pretty great), but in this video one they used the produced album track over the video to make this music video. I honestly love it both ways. There's a rawness to the live performance that elevates the meaning of the lyric to Mars. But the album version is just so pretty and clear, you hear every single word and note. I've watched a few videos of Sully (Godsmack Frontman) talking about writing this tune. He talks about how we're all imperfect and how we need to stop being afraid of showing our scars to others. Everyone has scars, whether physical or emotional, and we cant get through it all alone. Powerful lyric. Pretty melody. What more could a fan want? Something else about Godsmack that I think is worth mentioning is that these guys have been around for like 25 years or something and they've continued to evolve. They found this openness and maturity in this last record that just made me fall in love all over again. I'd love to see you react to Monsters or Get Up from Shinedown. :)

Ken, Godsmack was my absolute favorite band back in the day. My fiancé bought me a VIP ticket to meet Sully Erna and the band. Hell, I named my dog Sully after him. Well, when I met Sully Erna at the VIP meet and greet, I told him about naming my dog (who I love dearly) after him he was insulted! He said, “you named your DOG after me? And smirked. I’m serious!! . He signed my photo of the band and I went on my way disappointed. Anyway, my love for him went down, but I still love the older music on the first Godsmack CD. This song seems cool, but I can’t help but remember that negative impression he made on me. 😢. On a happier note, I met all the members of HellYeah at a restaurant, and they invited me and my family to sit with them while they ate. We took pictures and they were super cool. So not all rock stars are assholes.

Could you please do a song off the new Killswitch Engage album "Atonement"? Jesse leach, the vocalist had surgery to remove nodules from his vocal chords before making this album, and he came back singing better than he ever has. He has self-admittedly not used proper singing techniques especially in his early career in the early 2000's, and even left the band only to return 10 years later and just absolutely blew everyone away. I adore this band, they are metal-core with a super happy sounding melodies and a positive message. As someone aspiring to learn to at least somewhat sing for fun, it would be nice to hear your thoughts on a singer who has finally unlocked their full potential. Songs I recommend would be either "Unleashed" or "Take Control" (Take Control is my favorite...). The band centers around amazing guitarmanship, powerful choruses, and a mix of clean and scream singing(With a favor towards the cleans). I've adored this band for over 10 years and I feel like this is the best work they have ever put out, especially when it comes to the vocals. And the Album has song that really shine a light on mental health and I can say from experience they are POWERFUL. Also, thank you for all that you do!

Def autotune, you are 100% correct, but tbf, live he is reasonably close, only effects I use live are reverb and a bit of compressor, finding a mic that suits your voice and proper EQ, more important. A band I have been asked to play in are doing this song, which is how I came across it, its a good mid range male vocalists number, nothing too demanding vocally, which I guess is why you didnt make any comments about that side of it, good positive comments too, peace.x

This song I believe is about Mental Health..... Its a song of power.... the " family " you see in the video is Godsmack Mostly Sulley and his crew going to visit people with Mental and Psychial 'Imperfects' Alot of those were from the " Make-a-Wish " they do every year hell almost every month...... Sully is being a Soilder/Fighter and voice for a crowd of people that don't really have one..... We as a USA citizens need to do more research and study into Mental Health....... instead of just " Letting them live their enoviable life to the end " instead of trying to actually HEAL AND CURE the disability..... I live with Type-1 Bi-Polar and on top severe depression + PTSD for when I did Basic Training for 2 yrs...... We NEED to do MORE research and study into Mental Health..... Its just we need too..... instead of worring so damn much about how much of " Tax Payers " Money, " We (Government ) " can line our pockets with...... I just tired of people ingnoring the true meaning of this song and keep on thinking its meant not for Mental Health...... I mean even the video at the end tell your to donate to a orgination that Sully founded for Just that to get medical help and research done for Mental Health...... Sorry for my Rant >.>

High Ken Templin I was wandering I saw your video having this song on which i'm practicing these days, love his voice, no forcing but still sounds rock, and so for myself I got some situation on which I am not able to do some compressions when singing softly, the exemple I could place is when he is saying the word sense . In the beginning (do we make sense) I dont know other terms than compression, but mainly I'd like to do the same, with a clear voice like he is doing, mine is sometimes""windy", and keeping it soft, just like almost like he was talking which I need to practice. And so I was wandering if you could give me some tips to get this, techniques and exercises and also what video of yours you recommend me for this. For me it seems to be using his fry vocals for this moment, but when I'm doing it doesnt sound what his doing and so for myself when doing it seems and feels that I should be compressing deeper in the throat, (on which i'm not able with soft voice)
@kentamplin5 жыл бұрын
The answer is real vocal training. Tips are not sufficient. You need techniques that work. If you actually want to improve you should follow a complete course and do, mostly, workouts that are designed to build your voice. You can sing all day everyday, but if you aren't learning proper vocal techniques and practicing correctly, you could actually be embedding bad habits and harming your voice, rather than building it. I cover all this in my singing course. Please, check it out: kentamplinvocalacademy.com

These guys know how to work with fire. Lyrics mostly very simple, but also have a deep message. Maybe the most hated and most loved band in germany. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kJy6Xn5rh7aXsNE. The video that created more love and hate, than any other video in germany: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJa0fmSZYr12esU Would be interesting what you, or others, who are not from germany, think about that. The singer is also known for rolling the R, which is kinda unique.

It would be awesome if you could review Brandi Carlisle's 'The Joke' performed live at the Grammys. Talk about a song with deep meaning and her performance was mesmerizing.
