Regardless of skill or technique, Madonna really does have an incredible ability to really make you feel what's she's singing. There's some technically perfect singers that can't even do that.

She may not be the best or strongest technical singer but she can convey emotions using her voice. When she sings the final couple of songs in the movie where Eva is dying people in the movie theatre actually were crying. Glad that Billy Crystal commented on her being over looked by the Academy. When she won the best actress award at the Golden Globes people assumed that the academy would at least short list her. ❤️❤️

It truly is one the most underrated & under appreciated vocal transformations, she had during Evita of any artist. If you go back to her vocals throughout the 80’s / 90’s, this woman’s growth is stunning. I get so tired of people saying “She doesn’t have the best voice”, instead of celebrating her tremendous growth. Love this reaction, so happy you appreciate it.
@FuckVirginMary Жыл бұрын
The mistake that people made was comparing Madonna to other singers. Madonna has a unique style of singing and making music that is all of her own. She also has a unique voice. She is her own creation. What make Madonna's ballads great is her ability to sing with emotions. You can hear and feel the raw pains in her voice. Sometimes the best singers don't have the ability to allow their emotions and vulnerability to come through their songs. You just hear them singing loudly and hitting all the right notes, but there are no feelings or emotions behind it. They are so focus on hitting the high notes correctly, that they forgot to put feelings and emotions into their songs.
@NeilChase-r1z10 ай бұрын
Madonna's vocal ability is shunned because she has sold 200 million more than any other female artist, and those others have more extraordinary voices. however, madonna can sing better than most.

Her performing that night was a big deal, everyone thought she would not attend because she was snubbed for the Oscar nomination, but she showed class and stuck with the film right until the very end AND performed in front of the lions den to the entire academy that didn't vote for her. Major respect, and double major respect for her debuting a live performance of a song from the Evita soundtrack for the very first time ... and it won the Oscar.

I was so angry when Madonna bought the rights to produce Evita. And then she did this. An astounding performance that changed how I looked at her immense talent. I always said that she was a performer, but not a singer. Everything she did in Evita changed my mind. I now treasure her. I've always been a bit of a contrarian when it comes to pop culture, categorically rejecting certain genres. Not only is this emotive for the Evita persona but it also is emotive for Madonna. I love how this song works in two ways. You can sing it as Eva desperately demanding Perón's love, but you can also sing it as Eva realizing that Perón actually loves her despite her flaws.
@grahamturner2882 жыл бұрын
Totally this. A lot of people seem to overlook the (intentional) double meaning. It’s since been added to the stage version of most productions and when I saw it again in that context it seems that there’s another layer: that, as well as Perón, she’s also singing it to the people of Argentina too. That, they too, must have loved her to stay true during the good and bad times. In that way I think it bookends the ‘I love you and hope you love me...’ sentiment from ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’.

I can't help but wonder if some of that emotion being strung into this live performance was coming from a place of hurt, especially after being passed over for a nomination to one, if not, her best performances as the role of Eva Perron. Her vocals, along with the emotion strung into each lyric was incredible here and to see it done so vulnerably was chilling and heart-wrenching.

Yay a Madonna review! Madonna was so nervous for this performance. Aside from the 'me' choice that Georgina pointed out, it was flawless. The final 'me' was beautiful. @cizar20002 жыл бұрын
Although her vibrato is historically bad and worsened by emotional condition, the most important thing was not mentioned, is that she sang with differences in intensity, she got the first part softer, giving strength and power in the second part when she repeats the higher notes. Dynamics is always a challenge in performances with orchestras and I live there.

She also has incredible emotive qualities that many lack and artistic visionary qualities that make her the greatest female artist and entertainer of all time.
