The problem for Jack Black is that he’s an amazing rock vocalist but the more he commits the funnier it gets. He’s literally too funny to be the unironic rockstar he could be.

Jack black is a phoneimal actor both voicing and irl acting. I love that no matter the project most studios let him actually improvise most of his lines to boot making it more fun to watch him in scenes. I was surprised he did the rickroll when I saw the film. I made sure to go in blind hiding any videos talking about it for a month was hard. XD lol

Loved this video. I've seen a lot of musicians and vocal coaches react to a 3 minute songs and stretch the video to 20 or even 40 minutes somehow. However, you made the analysis very quick and easy to understand while keeping the video's length still enjoyable instead of a pain to watch through completely. Major props to you for making a highly enjoyable and compact reaction to this great song :)

Absolutely Rick Rolled. I taught this at the end of the year to my students because they love Rick. Actually, we did a whole Mario Party. There's a rhythm play along would you rather where you pick your Mario Cart player and play that rhythm. We did it on a hand drum one student at a time. A Mario rhythm rap. A Mario 4 corners game. Peaches Boom Whackers. And studying this song/video and the Rick Roll overlay regarding chord progressions and why thisbchord progression is so unique and also whybit makes it such an earworm.

A bit late for this comment but if anyone is interested. The effect on his voice doesn't change the whole pitch but it's the formants that are tuned down to make him sound larger. Essentially, they are changing how his voice naturally resonates in his sized body to replicate how it would sound in Bowser's body. Not auto tune you are hearing (although there prob is some expert subtle tuning since its from a mega franchise but it wouldn't be noticed on JB as he's that good anyway)
@RyouNoMegami

I just wish he did the official song in his regular voice. Or had both version available. His natural vocals are so much better. I didnt even recognize him in the movie because of the distortion.
@twylenb
@twylenb Жыл бұрын
I highly doubt there's pitching or too many external effects. He's using vocal fry, distortion, and his false vocal chords to create the effect. You can tell it's not pitched down because of the placement of his voice. His head voice is in typical range, and his chest voice is in typical range. The human voice can do a lot of strange things.
@KitsyX
@KitsyX Жыл бұрын
I have to disagree, that sounds pitched down to me... I don't doubt he could hit the same notes naturally or put on a bit of a deeper voice... In fact, I think he might be going a bit lower in pitch than normal as well... But yeah, that does not sound natural to me... It sounds more like pitch shifting than boosting the bass frequencies too... Doesn't seem like they used chorus or reverb... It's like when people used to slow down recordings to make them sound deeper... Plus sometimes you get what sounds a bit like autotune distortion... It doesn't sound clean... I doubt he needs autotune in general, I expect that they just wanted a deeper voice for Bowser... Although I wish for this video they had just gone natural with it. I expect it would sound even better.
@tylertrego1276
@tylertrego1276 Жыл бұрын
@KitsyX if that's pitched down then he must use that technique in most of his music because he literally just sounds like he does in all his Tenacious D songs when he goes low in those to me.

@theslumberjake
@theslumberjake Жыл бұрын
@@jasonlebeau1288 He was pitched down for the Bowser voice-acting, and this song is from the movie. I listen to Tenacious D a lot, and you can tell by the tone in the beginning of the song that it is pitched down. The first line he speaks in the video is a give-away. Not saying he can't hit those notes, but its definitely pitch-adjusted.

Jack Black is so good, yet funny at the same time. I'm going to have "Peaches Peaches" stuck in my head for a while. Have you ever heard of BABYMETAL? I recommend "Monochrome piano version" which they performed on The First Take, because it focuses on their vocals. Suzuka Nakamoto is a very fascinating singer and you wouldn't think she is the front person of a heavy metal group, or should I say "sing and dance unit". There is no other like them.
