It’s amazing how she’s preggers and still sounding so amazing. I like how she proved she wasn’t lip syncing by adding in new sounds and twisting the song differently. The superbowl obviously had a back track but she was singing along with it for extra support. She’s great.

The Super Bowl was still live, I went to it and saw her live the mic was on the whole time she sounded a amazing she did have some back track which is just normally the original song playing when she isn’t singing or is dancing .

Just wanted to add in some clarification as I am a fanatic when it comes to Rihanna's performances, tours, shows, all things live, etc. The ending where she appeared "strained" is 100% intentional. I wouldn't even use the word strained or struggling. She's EXTREMELY expressive when she performs her ballads. Those notes were not challenging for her. I could give you 3-5 other performances where she does similar movements and facial expressions.That is all😎

The soft palate lift is coming from her Barbados accent believe it or not. A thick Barbados accent has that sound effect. She is sing speaking or speak singing. In Caribbean choirs teachers called it chorale speaking. I don't know if it has that in the states or if it is like a part of theatre singing maybe. Interesting though. I think it's a chorale speak she's doing so you hear her palate lift. Wow.

In the past, I felt like she was coasting in her songs, like not putting a ton of effort vocally to sound grounded, but this time, I felt she sounded earthy, and in control. There was also a real visceral emotional connection, like the lyrics were being sung to her baby and the baby within her. ❤
