An honest review! Why people mad?! Nobody is cancelling Rihanna over a bad performance this isn’t her first bad performance. She got a standing ovation and will still wake up tomorrow as one of the BIGGEST stars in the world. The vocals were bad point blank. Don’t act like Rihanna is known for her stellar vocals, she has never been renowned for them. Like you said this far in her career these moments shouldn’t even make the performance. There is a lot you can do to hide these moments.

Pregnancy affects some women’s voices more than others. Rihanna recorded the song after her pregnancy so her voice was fine. But now the hormones are starting to kick in and she’s having trouble in the belting department (which is normal). She even had trouble walking off the stage without help! So let’s give her props for conveying the message in a very emotional way and doing her best!

As a vocalist I can confirm that pregnancy actually improves women's voices, not the other way around. Tamar, Bey, Mariah, Celine etc all sounded better pregnant. Being pregnant means no alcohol, no smoking so the integrity of the voice improves. I think she just doesnt care about music anymore so shes not practicing thats just the facts.

Just because you listed a few examples, all of which are considered the best vocalists in the industry, doesn't mean it will be the same for Riri. Rihanna from the JUMP has never been the best vocalist and the whole world knows that. People and even her fans didn't think she was a good vocalist until 2016 (fans in 2009) because she wasn't. Edit: Another reason why it wouldn't make some people have better vocals is how much pregnancy pushes on your diaphragm. There are also other factors like the baby's position could be making it harder to sing (might be the reason why she sounded amazing at the super bowl and kinda subpar here

@@facethebass yes, but add that to the fact that she hasn't been singing consistently for 5 years now. And Pregnancy actually lowers your voice, so her higher belts were weaker, (she hit an Eb5 instead of a C5 in "in your arms"). The rest of the performance was fine. A good example of what happens if you don't sing consistently is Mariah. She rested her voice for 2 years and it became worse.

Well, that is how she sounded on the recorded version. I didn't like the song specifically because of that part. I hated the way she annunciate, "hold me"; sound like she's saying "ohme". However, this live version isn't too bad; I prefer it over the original.

I also cringed a little at the “hold me” spot. It’s because on the recording the note she gets up to in chest voice is a C#, and in this performance she sings a C natural. Judging from the rest of the performance, she quite possibly did that on purpose (like Alicia Keys often does). But if it was a mistake and she couldn’t get there, then I think she should have gone into falsetto in that spot (like she does for “keep me safe” and then again at the end).
