I loved this reaction!!! So many things to appreciate. OK, just so you know names, next to Geoff is J.None. He was a member of the group, so you’ve heard him before (Ooogie Boogie’s song, among others). He is now singing for the Navy, and we’re all hoping he’ll come back to us when he’s done. Then there’s Eli (ELee), former rock tenor, just love his voice to pieces. Then Cesar (Seezar)-and I am so glad you gave him some love-he has such a beautiful voice. Finally we have Layne, the beatboxer, also known at least on one other occasion as VioLayne. Layne also treats us to his singing now and again. Please do more Voiceplay. I’ve missed your reactions!

Just to be totally clear (and hopefully not obnoxious)... Eli is pronounced as is typical of the female name Ellie, just in case ELee is at all confusing. And I totally agree that hopefully they will continue to work with J. None, even if he doesn't come back formally into the group. Every one of them has a very unique voice!!

Thinking about your reaction this morning - I follow many of VP's reactors, but you're the first that I've heard focus on the arrangement, and while their vocal skills are superb, it's always seemed to me that their arrangements are unusually good. I don't know music, so I know they grab my ears, but I rarely can pick out the magic behind what they do. All of this to say a double thank you, I learned a lot from your reaction and hope you continue to do these. Hoist the Colors, their Wicked Medley and their most recent, In My Room, all got raves for their arrangements from other musicians, but... it's a mystery to me. I just know they grab me and won't let go. If you decide you can fit any of those in it would fantastic.
@nathanwahl92246 ай бұрын
Layne, the beatbox demigod, also does most of the arrangements!!! Not sure about this one. The guy does a lot of the video, and many times is the driving force behind the guys. Incredible unsung hero.
@Aurora-cv5to6 ай бұрын
@@nathanwahl9224 Actually, Layne does almost exactly 50% of the arrangements, with Geoff doing the other half. I went through a thing a couple years back when I was trying to understand musically/technically why my ears always knew which of them arranged it. I made a spreadsheet, and eventually I counted them. It's an even split. Sometimes one or the other will do 2 in a row, but they balance out. Whoever takes responsibility for the arrangement is almost always the one responsible for creative direction and the video. I REALLY REALLY like Layne - I love his over-the-top humor, his voice, his violin, his beatboxing and his acting. He's an impeccable comic actor. According to an interview that he did a few months ago, Eli will be taking on a full 1/3 of the responsibility moving forward..

I think Geoff and Llayne are geniuses when it comes to their arrangements. They know each others voices and capabilities inside and out and know how to bring out the best in everybody. To most Players this is the ideal line up, although they have had some really awesome guests. I'm hoping that when J. None gets out of the Navy that this becomes the permanent line up. However, they should still have guests...imo. Eli toured with a rock band before joining these guys so he was perfect for this song.

I've been hoping for another VoicePlay reaction forever! Worth the wait, though. Highly recommend VP's Warriors (more VioLayne!), Hoist the Colors and Queen in 5 Minutes!

Your channel is so enjoyable. I love the combination of the technical analysis and education you provide along with the goofy mannerisms while providing the information.

I am so happy you chose to react to this amazing performance. As always, my Fairy Voice Mom has provided me with insights that I never knew I had been missing. I whole heartedly agree with B C below that this is the BEST reaction this performance on the internet. Love your reactions and analysis!
