I was Rachel's High School Director. I Directed her just days before she went to rehearsals for WSS. I can tell you with complete conviction. her voice is real. The perfection you hear is what you hear when she sings live. There is no manipulation to any recording of her voice. It is as close to perfection as you can find. And a wonderful person as well

always a fan of Tara's reaction on Broadway music. very technical and always on point w her observations. West Side Story is one my fav Broadway musicals of all time. I dearly love Kiri Tekanawa as Maria, unique and distinctive voice but this lady is special. she has a very beautiful voice.

"One Hand One Heart" from the original West Side Story, was sang at my parents wedding 37 years ago. It was recorded at their wedding and I played it at my Wedding 11 years ago. Such a special song for us. And my mother walked down the aisle to the same song that Fraulein Maria did in The sound of music. Needless to say my family loves musicals.

Love West Side Story! Here's a Broadway reaction quest: If you can find a video online of Sutton Foster singing 'White Night' (or pretty much any other song) from The Music Man, she is incredible! Saw her perform live and absolutely blew everyone away. She and Hugh Jackman were so amazing in that show!

You want to hear something genius check out Ren in “Hi Ren” (or “Chalk Outlines” by Ren and chinchilla the live version ) this busker went viral in a day. He’s been struggling with health issues most his life which is heartbreaking that someone so gifted is dealing with so much. there is not a reviewer I have seen yet who’s jaw hasn’t dropped and I’ve literally watched it like a hundred times and get goose bumps and emotional each every time. She actually said it's pretty difficult to learn to sing with accent bc when you learn to sing they basically teach you to avoid any type of accent (or that's how she described it at least).

Well, one of my favorite singers of all time is Shirley Bassey, and she does that thing where you go from vibrato to straight tone, and sometimes back to vibrato. So I’m not bothered at all when I hear people doing that. Sometimes he just end up doing that. So I do think you’re being too nitpicky, lol.

On second thought, as a search shows others confirm my impression, there's a good deal of autotune in the vocals, especially for him, but also the for her voice. Tara, I think it is incumbent upon you to point out these things when you're judging vocals. Unless you didn't notice it.

This is an observation rather than a criticism, but it's so much easier to sing beautifully when you sing in. She couldn't possibly sing that way in a stage performance, with or without a microphone.
