I heard that Tim Foust made this arrangement of this song at age 19 when he was a member of an earlier a cappella group. He has a five octave range, so he has no problem singing any part of the range. This is before Chris Rupp left to pursue his own interests and Adam Chance would then replace him in the group. (2016?) If you listen to their outro they tell you where they made this video.

I just love the way they put there spin on all that they do. And they are all best of friend in rl and it shows in their music. And as many have said you need to rest to did you hear what I hear and Marry did you know they’re so good. Also they have an original holiday song Snow Globe that is fantastic. This arrangement was put together by Tim back in high school when he was with another group. So much talent.

For Home Free's music generally, it's a relief from the sex, drugs and rock & roll. Since the music labels have homogenized music and song generally, Home Free remains selective with their material while being original in presentation. Of course, the many beautiful and perfect harmonies are its brand. Also Home Free has been unaffected by the 30-year rap virus, the countercultural, loser-behavior variety. Who needs more inspiration to violence, a war on police and and free-range breeding for fun and profit. There is much to be eschewed on the music scene. HF is no part of that. They are decent.

This is the best rendition of this song I have ever heard. Their harmonies are wonderful. Adam Chance took Chris's place. I've heard that Tim did this arrangement when he was still in high school. If you haven't already, check out their rendition of "Auld Lang Syne". They tell you at the end where they filmed. Thank you for not mentioning Tim's twang....we Texans have a twang...it's inborn.

Community/family/brotherhood totally explains Home Free and the appeal they have - aside from the music. Lots of groups can sing well, can meld well, but there is something about HF that just draws you in. Nine years has done wonders both for Austin himself and for his voice. Austin at 28 was fantastic. Austin at 37... Of course, they have all matured - their new cover of Colder Weather is lovely, their Christmas in LA - the audio was released 2 years ago, but the video just the beginning of Dec - is amazing....

I think one of the things (besides his amazing voice) that makes Austin my favorite (but I love them all) is the joy he obviously gets from singing. If you watch their recent release of I Want Crazy, during part of it they are being grumpy and you can almost tell how hard it is for Austin to sing that way. Definitely recommend it and all of their recent releases.

New subscriber. Yours is the best reaction I've seen to this gorgeous rendition. All of your observations, from those about the individual voices to their down-home a cappella brotherhood, were right on point. And I appreciate your generous spirit. If you haven't heard their collaboration with Kenny Rogers on the old black gospel Christmas tune Children Go Where I Send Thee I think you'll be blown away. Home Free has a lot of top-notch Christmas songs. And their beautiful original, by Tim, Snow Globe, as well as their newest release, Colder Weather, will give you a chance to hear Chance and solos by all of the guys.

Well, it was this song that got me started; well, "THE VOICE" that did!!! Typical of the season, being November, Gospel songs & Hymns related to CHRISTmas, I'd heard so many times before but it sounded good -- really good and clean, that lower voice started moving up which caught my attention --- then even higher from that fry/scoop yet so so clean (audio only, imagine)... Got my attention and had to look 'em up -- to "find" that voice and listen again... and again --- NOT TYPICAL!!! I've been stuck ever since -- and perfectly happy. Intrigued enough to "have to see it for myself" ... and I did, a bit surreal (even after!). Verified and will go see 'em again. Phenomenally Exceptional - Exceptionally Phenomenal !!! They are the only group that can pull off Country -- and Oh MY!!!! Wishing you the best Happy Holidays & a VERY Merry CHRISTmas!!! Be Safe

Thank you for your genuine joy in hearing good music! Your knowledge and experience adds so much to the enrichiment of our own love of Home Free. It's getting pretty late to be making Christmas recommendations, but "Do You Hear What I Hear?" is, in my opinion, the masterpiece of arrangement (by Adam Rupp) and performance. Thanks for reacting to this song. Chris and Adam established early on how they would treat their fans even through personnel changes this has remained consistent. Their entire organization is onboard with the treatment of their fans. I think Tim arranged this at a younger age for another group. Any time all of them sing it is special.

Tim has a 5 Octave Voice, which although unusual in a standard Male voice structures, but, not in most quality Bass singers, who often have 4 to 5 octave ranges. Geoff Castellucci, Avi Kaplan, Nick Massi, Elliott Robinson, Paul Robeson to mention just a few, past & Present

The specific location is the Chapel of the School Sisters of Notre Dame in Mankato, MN. It’s an organization of Christian women, but I’m not sure if they’re Catholic Nuns exactly or not.
