Yes, I always thought it was SUCH a stroke of luck that they picked HIM out of all the trainees, when they could only afford to send ONE. But that manager was absolutely correct when he picked the one with most potential/most to gain from the trip! :D And after a month going around to the various studios and learning new things he wanted to drop singing and focus solely on dance - but the other boys talked him out of it! :D

Jungkook is one of those people who are born with immense talent. Even in his teens, he had a very stable voice without any training! "No fear of heights" when JK went bungee jumping with the guys he was the most crazy one, started hanging upside down and laughing. At the end of his flight around the stadium he just hopped off the footrest and carried on. I think if it was me my legs would have buckled. That was my introduction to BTS. Was watching the World Cup and was stunned by his performance. Little did I know the very deep, thrilling, and time consuming rabbit hole I had just entered. The behind the scenes episode of that performance shows how skilled he is at understanding production as well. He got to Qatar and realized the quality of what had been prepared was seriously lacking and he spent a lot of time and effort to fix it and make the performance amazing.

I love your references to various musicals! Jungkook is the main vocalist and Jimin is the lead vocalist (in K-pop main is higher than lead). Jungkook has perfect vocal pitch. He had no formal singing or dancing lessons before joining Big Hit as a trainee at 13 years of age. He was taken to the US for less than a month’s dance training before debut. ARMY loves all seven, and we call ourselves OT7 for that. Of course most of us have biases, but it doesn't mean we love the others less. Like myself, I love different aspects of each members. My favorite are Jin's and V/Tae's voice overall. I admire the rapline with each of their rapping skills and lyricism. I am amazed at Jimin's high register and angelic voice. I love how Jungkook always evoke emotions in his singing with his sweet vocal. I admire all of their respective personalities and abilities. My ultimate bias are RM and V, but I wouldn't hesitate to say that the others wreck each other every other day or even hour that it's sometimes difficult to say which is my favorite. 😅

Fun fact, "Euphoria" was offerd to Justin Beiber first but he passed. Thank Goodness! Because when I think Jungkook, the first thing that comes to mind is THIS performance! He sings so well because he is ALWAYS practicing. In lots of ways, on a treadmill, he uses a straw technique, in the shower, all the time! And yep, he has perfect pitch! Daredevil JK, lol. I swear he's fearless. On their Run BTS episodes he's the only one that was excited to bungee jump and not scared, lol. I think he's the most well rounded vocally, he can and does sing everything. He usually does the vocals on guide tracks, and he's usually got a lot of harmonies and ad libs. Which isn't to diminish anyone else, Jimin has a gorgeous piercingly sweet top range, V is insanely smooth, Jin has the most incredible belt... JK is kind of a balance of all of it, possibly from literally growing from middle school into adulthood while in the group.

Jungkook has a perfect pitch and has a stable vocal, he is one of the main vocalist.You'll see him run and jump in performances and not lose breath and keep the singing at the right pitch and tone. His got other great solo songs too that you will love to listen and react to like Stay Alive, Still With You. You may also want to listen to unit songs of the 4 vocal lines (Jungkook, Jimin, Jin, V), they have sung great vocals like The Truth Untold, House of Cards, Dimple. Even in their group songs like Butterfly, Wings, Magic Shop, etc.. their vocals stand out, I think even if you pick songs randomly from their discography you will be able to appreciate them a lot.

I love how you pulled out a chart to explain 7 dimensions of singing! I know nothing technical about vocals but this analysis is amazing to see. You know who I want to watch your video? That would be Jungkook himself. I want him to know how good he is, he’s repeatedly said that he wants to improve more as a singer and although he considers himself a good artist at this point in time, he said in a recent interview (in SUGA’s show) that he still thinks he’s lacking, and wishes for a time in the future when he can be fully proud of himself. When I first started listening to BTS I thought...oh V's my favorite for sure... then I throught oh wait...Jimin has such a unique voice...I love his voice...he's my favorite. Oh wait...Jin! His range...his powerful silver voice. THEN I realized the all along Jungkook is singing so effortlessly and sprinkling his ad libs and harmonizing with the all the members...vocal line and rappers throughout their live concerts. He IS the main vocalist for a reason. I love all their voices but Jungkook voice just hits different for me. As far as rappers go...RM, Suga and JHope...they are all BADASS. I love all of their uniqueness BUT when you put alll 7 unique talented guys together...you get WOWed. Have fun on your BTS journey guys.

I don’t know if there is a poll, but “Magic Shop” live in Japan is a good group song to hear. All 4 vocalists have a spotlight moment that is very impressive and the rappers each have a set of bars that showcase their strengths. Plus, you get to see some “crowd work” that will blow your mind! You have not seen ARMY and BTS do their thing together yet… As for Korean, I think as vocal coaches you would find the spoken language fascinating. English relies primarily on the parts of the mouth for pronunciation - we incorporate teeth, lips and tongue placements to produce various sounds. Not so much with Korean. They do not even have the letters V, F, or Z or sounds associated with them. Instead, the bulk of sound differences are produced with breath control and changing the shape of the entire mouth as sound is moved out. In other words, the language requires the kind of skills that a singer thinks about all the time. For example, there is the letter 어. For this vowel you make the shape of saying “ah” with your mouth while saying “oh” with your vocal cords - to produce a sound we do not really have in our vowel set.

I was eagerly waiting for this one. 'Euphoria' is definitely one of his best songs but please check out 'Stay alive' and '3D' as well, both of them are of completely different vibes. Moreover Euphoria came out in 2018 while Stay Alive(2022) is relatively new and 3D is his latest release, so you can see how good of a vocalist he currently is. Please do consider checking them out. Just the one song, really!? Nooo! Still loved your reaction; thank you! JK is so very, very talented! This was shot at a BTS concert, where all 7 members performed. BTS albums have solo songs from the members on them...still credited to BTS (not the individual member). They do perform them when BTS is touring. This was very hard to wrap my head around as a 45 year old American. All solo work I had ever encountered was always totally separate from the group's work. Other examples of this would be 'Moon' by Jin, 'Filter' by Jimin, 'Persona' by RM. All on BTS albums and credited to BTS, but sung just by one member. Edited to add that this changed in 'Chapter 2', as they had to begin their military service and focus on the solo projects. They ARE now performing as individuals (j-hope at Lollapoalozza, SUGA did a tour, etc) Really excited for the Taylor Guide and then more BTS!

Thanks for the great reaction 🙏 14:00 That is very interesting. I'm a metal head, but I also dance to Hip Hop and RnB and also listen to other genres and legends like MJ and Queens. I find it interesting how many musical influences there are in BTS songs across all of their albums and how very different characters come together. I like the answer with the 7 people 😊 I like all of them, but JK is my bias because of his versatility and his many talents - he is the main vocslist but also in the dance line and even rapped in old BTS songs - because of his warm voice tone, his vocal abilities and his strong, artistic character. Suga is probably my favorite member out of the rapline. I hope you can also react to “Still With You“ by Jungkook. He released it as a gift for his fans and is co-writer and co-producer. It’s just a lyric video without MV but he also sang it acapella on one of his livestream without any gimmicks and in a live concert (his GMA live performance and a BTS concert). If you are interested, I can send you links. I also recommend the song “Stay Alive“ by Jungkook which is produced by Suga.
