Kazakhstan is in Central Asia between China and Russia and Dimash was invited as a wild card in this Chinese show The Singer, a competition for famous and established singers. He was youngest contestant and unknown in China ( he was known in his country), but became famous in China and worldwide after and now he has over 10M fans in over 120 countries now. Thank you.

The biggest WOW factor on this planet. He doesn't need his high notes to blow you away. But if, in addition to all his perfection, we add his overly human abilities, then he becomes an absolutely impeccable human being. /I'm not completely sure only about the word "human". Welcome to the magic world of Dimash!! Brace yourself, you are in for a hell of a ride discovering his other performances!! I would recommend not seeing them by yourself, to save your reaction for future videos :) This particular clip is from a chinese singing competition back in 2017, but all participants were already professional singers. You can read the rest of the story on wikipedia, I don't want to go into full detail here. What I would like to say though, as an amateur musician and singer, is that you must do a reaction of "Sinful Passion" and "Ogni Pietra". Along with SOS, these 3 songs are to me the absolute *MUST WATCH* songs for anybody who wants to see what Dimash can do. There are of course more great performances by him, and often vocal teachers go through many of them, but "SOS", "Sinful Passion" and "Ogni Pietra" are the most indicative songs of Dimash's immense skill and talent in my opinion.

Yes, he did make some pronunciation mistakes although when he won the Grand Prix at the Slavianski Bazaar in 2015 with this song, AND in subsequent performances, he pronounced those words correctly. I think it was because he was very nervous. As a total unknown in China, he needed to make a strong impression from the get go. Before every episode, the 500 people in the audience vote for which act they most want to see. The least expected act goes first and the most expected goes last. Every two episodes, the bottom two in rank get eliminated. In that very first episode on January 21, 2017, Dimash was the first to appear in the first episode. That’s why the audience gave him a warm welcome to cheer him up, not because they knew him. He also sang this on the France 2 program Les Années Bonheur. Btw, you were right about the girl in the hallway. She was next. Yes, I was laughing too at the background singer who was frozen in awe.

Lovely reaction. I hope you delve further into his music, there are even full concerts online of his too. All sorts of songs. I have had lots of complex surgeries over past 5 years and a particularly nasty one 2 years ago that all had very long painful recovery processes attached. Even though this last one has left me in the worst pain so far I actually found Dimash's music about two and half nearly 3 years ago now and it's helped me a tremendous amount to just get through the worst of the pain by having a beautiful voice to distract me. I've never heard a singer as versatile as he and also one who I actually enjoy every part of their range and any song style they do. The tone of his voice is just so beautiful to me from the lowest notes to the highs all equally stunning. Anyway, I hope you have a great week. Cheers

Thank you. Dimash is from Kazakhstan. He has been studying and performing (since he was 5 yrs old) Music for over 20 years, he is now 25 yrs old. Dimash has College & University Degrees in Classical and Contemporary Music. He is currently doing his University Masters in Composition, and has indicated that he intends to continue towards his PhD in Music. Dimash sings in 12 languages and plays 7 instruments. Dimash is a music virtuoso of our time.

WOW! Great singer, great reaction. And you have more in store for you from him. He's from Kazakhstan, just turned 25 (though I don't think he looks it.) He's 6'3" tall. He's a very modest, gentle person who demonstrated perfect pitch while still a baby. Operatic parents put him in formal music school at age 5, at a time when he already had performed a few times. His grandparents did much of his care--a custom in that land---and saw that he got to his classes. But he didn't have to be pressed, to practice his singing; he says it was his favorite thing to do, and he loved it. His prize possession as a toddler was a bag of cassettes, from which he would not be parted for a moment. He's devoted to his parents. They wanted him to stay in opera as he got older, but he wanted more variety. He has covered Michael Jackson (a childhood hero) and a wide variety of traditional and current music from his homeland. He's extremely patriotic and recently did a song written for the celebration of their freedom (25 yrs. ago) from Russia. It was China, however, that gave him his big break--one of their national singing contests. They drop the lowest scored person from the bottom each time, and keep the rest in competition; last one standing wins. They had had some losses from the ranks, and invited him to fill in after winning his way into the pack. Well, it was the song you just heard that gave him the win. That was, I think, just over a year ago and he has continued to work very hard, several hours of practice and study every day. He is very respectful toward his elders----parents, grandparents, teachers, etc---and charmingly devoted to his younger brother (about 12) and very pretty, charming sister, 18. You can see him singing with his parents by putting the following in KZbin search: " Dimash sings with parents." The song they sing was written by his father, for his mother. I recommend, for further reactions, "Opera 2" (not an opera), "Adagio," and "Love is like a Dream." You'll get lots of suggestions, and I'll be watching your reactions to every one.

This very performance in the Hunan Television (China) yearly competition, Singer (this was Singer 2017) made me and millions upon millions of people Dimash's fans. In China he won -- literally overnight -- 1.5 million "Dears" (that's how he calls us, his devotees). We now number 16 million all over the world.

Thank you for reacting! Apparently, Dimash learned the lyrics of this song phonetically after he heard Grégory Lemarchal sing it. However, he doesn’t pronounce the ‘s’ on ‘ris’ or ‘meurs’ in any other version, so presumably they were added due to nerves (this was his first ever performance in China.)

First of all, thank you very much for reacting to Dimash....I'll share with you some info about him and some links for you to react more to his performances...--(BTW, He is going to give his Solo concert for the First time in America Its going to be in NY the next December 10th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn) If you can go...don't miss this one in a lifetime opportunity!!) ---Now, about him: Dimash Kudaibergen is from Kazakhstan and aged 25. He is university trained in classical as well as in contemporary music and is known for his wide vocal range of 6 octaves, from D2 to D8 (and 6 octaves and 5 semitones, from A1 to D8, with vocal fry). This spans from the bottom of the bass range beyond the top of the soprano range. Kudaibergen has performed songs in twelve different languages, his native language Kazakh, but he has performed in Russian, Mandarin, English, French, Italian, Ukrainian, Turkish, Serbian, Kyrgyz, German, and Spanish. Dimash's voice is like a finely tuned instrument. He posses multiple voice types :bass, baritone, tenor, countertenor and soprano. His vocal pallette is almost unheard for a male singer. His whistle register goes up to G#7 before China Singing Competition, but on the 16 September, he broke his personal highest note with a whistle register, D8 at Gakku Music Festival Almaty, Kazakhstan. The D8 note (4500-4800hz) which is 6 keys higher than G#7 and 2 keys surpassed the 88 piano C8. The whistle (C8-D8) with vibrato (5 sec). He attended (invited by organizer as foreign special guest ) the China Singing There are 14 episodes at "I am a singer" China Singing Competition. You just stumbled upon the best voice there is and it's not just his insane range of over 6 octaves. This young man (just 22 here) will change your perception what is possible for a human voice. He is classically trained since age 5 and has ability to tell a story without understanding what he is singing which is rare gift, beside being a very gentle and thoughtful and very, very human young man.

Thank You so much for your First Reaction to Dimash....and as you said it is your first reaction ...lol, Just a few things....Dimash was 22 when he was on the I am singer show. Dimash began his singing lessons when he was 5 years old. He is now 25 and honestly you have not heard anything yet!!!!! A lot of people say how can such a voice come from such a small man...lol...Dimash is 6' 3" and is such a Humble and Loving Man. I do hope you will react to more of his performances....No one sings like Dimash... Something different for you to hear would be Ogni Pietra from a fancam because you get to see him up close. You see Dimash is also a trained Opera singer, the Opera Company wanted him to join them but, Dimash wanted to do his own music his way and it is called Popera. Just want the Best voice no that is no exactly right, in fact the one winning the final round (12 and 13 episodes) will be the “overall” winner of the season regardless the scores of the previous episodes. If you read the add up their scores of scores in all 12 episodes, Dimash’s score was higher than Sandy.

I was so surprised when I learned this last year when I discovered Dimash but then realized innovators are not understood/accepted by many who are stuck in "the old" way. Dimash is not only taking singing to the next high level he is taking MUSIC to a new wonderful level. I studied classical voice with one of the greatest voice teachers of the 20th century back in the early 90s. Peace!

Greetings of Peace to everyone…! And to all the personnel’s who worked with artists, and all others who did the translation, produced videos and uploaded it on line. My heartfelt gratitude to the reactors worldwide for your great help and service, so that artists can improve and or develop their talents and gifts at their best in order to serve better the listening public. I still browse the music videos of Dimash from time to time to see what still store in there. I’m just wondering how much effort and strength Dimash had invested into it and to reach such a powerful voice and the many other talents that he had. Indeed it is really a great work. How he was able to develop such a heights of his talents is really admirable and worth learning. And it is much more beautiful because he sang it by heart, naturally and at his heart’s content with joyful disposition. The discipline, courage, dedication and high ideals in pursuing his singing career to the best of his ability the best he can is worth imitating not only in our individual professional fields but also in living our day to day life. Hope his listeners around the world especially the young will learn something from his optimistic views in pursuing his career, his persistency, courage, creativity and perseverance. His labors and hard work are now indeed bearing fruits in abundance. And so my heartfelt congratulations to Dimash and to his family and all others who supported him all the way through as a musician. For me as a listener it counts a lot the personal disposition of the artist and the content of its music. The power and beauty of his voice is so incredible even at his lowest and highest notes. Also the fact that, he is able to sing his music with ease and comfort in different languages and in various voices is really amazing. But some others also cannot handle and cannot even believe the power, the strength and the heights of his voice…and they said oooh… is Dimash human..? I think It’s just a natural reaction that people wonder and probably surprise by it or cannot even believed it at all, it’s because it is beyond human expectation. But I believed and I’m convinced that Dimash 20 year’s cultivation of his voice and talents is no tricks and no magic at all; though he is gifted but his hard work and years of practice and experiences proves it to us and to the world … that indeed it is possible. My other concern whenever I listen to music is that, I usually ask: WHAT MESSAGE THIS MUSIC BRINGS ..? TO THE WORLD..? TO PEOPLE..? Although all Dimash music are very good, full of content and meaning but I like most this music, because for me it speaks a message of truth, values and realities of human life. I feel that, it is not just enough to give my thumbs up to like this music, but I’m deeply moved to share something more about the richness and deeper meaning of it. With due respect to the composers, writers and singers of these music for whatever their purpose and intention would be, will always take precedence. The thoughts that I will be sharing below about these music is only the fruits of my personal reflections based on the things that I highly valued and on how I perceived it myself and the message of this song that reaches out to me. For all those who read these reflections and commentaries of mine about this piece of music performed by Dimash. If you think it is helpful for you, for your family and friends you can share it to them as you please, and I do really appreciate it. Or maybe you might have a different reflection experience of this music than mine; you can always revisit this music or other music of Dimash on line. Your own personal comments and critics to this commentary and reflection of mine is very much welcome and highly appreciated too. Song of Dimash in French “S.O.S D’UN TERRIEN EN DETRESSE” (Ester Rabi’s Commentary & Reflection on this song: I like this music because it reminds me the Truth, Realities and Precariousness of Human Life particularly Suffering and Death) STORY BEHIND THE SONG: Gregory Lemarchal was a young French singer who inspired Dimash to sing “SOS d'un terrien en detresse”. Gregory at all odds won the fourth series Reality TV Program Star Academy, despite his failing health. He became an overnight success in France and went on to have a successful short career. He was known to have the voice like of an angel but he died young with his unusual illness of Cystic Fibrosis in 2007 at the age of 23. Also this song was sung by Dimash from time to time in memory of his friend Denis Ten an Olympic figure skater from Kazakhstan who was stabbed after a dispute with people who allegedly tried to steal a mirror from his car in his home city of Almaty. He died in hospital of massive blood loss from multiple wounds at the age of 25 in 2018. That is why this song is a bit sad mention in some of the lyrics…A soul’s plea for help or an earthly being in distress. Suffering and death is one of the realities of human life. It is important that we should know the basic truth about it, so that it will not cause us fear and distress in our life’s journey, but rather to remind us all of our ultimate destiny as people of faith. For me, there are 3 kinds of suffering we experienced in life: 1st suffering that God allows, 2nd suffering which is the results of our own choices and decisions and 3rd is the suffering which is cause by other people to us. In whatever forms of suffering we are experiencing, know that, if it is discern well it will gain us eternal merit. Note that it is not important how much and how long we suffer, or who cause us to suffer, but how is our attitude towards it when it comes into our life…? All of these three can be an opportunity or a means of grace that we will grow in virtue, when we accept it with great humility and discernment. Our usual human tendency is, if we can, we try to avoid any pain and suffering in our life. However we can’t deny also that life is mixed of many learning experiences both in joys and in difficulties and I supposed we need it both, because it contributes and helps us mature and grow in many aspects of life. Suffering and death may seem contrary to our own human thinking or world’s way of thinking but in it, there’s a certain wisdom which is richer and deeper that no one can fully understand. Suffering reminds us the real fact that we are all fragile human beings; that we are limited and we are not God. Sufferings are human reality and consequences of sin that affects us all. It helps us see the real worth and value of things and meaning in life. Likewise, if we are open to grace it helps us become vulnerable, sensitive and compassionate to others. It sharpens our awareness that this earth is not our permanent and true home. We should remember that we are strangers and pilgrims on this earth” St. Paul reminded us that “the sufferings of this present time are nothing to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed to us later. Suffering purifies and refines us of any life’s superficiality into an authentic one. Though no one really is actively searching for suffering in his / her life, but honestly truth compels us to admit that sufferings do have a great value in our life and by experiencing it personally in reality, you will never be the same person. The hope of heaven gives us joy even in the sufferings of this life. In God’s plan, human beings were created for holiness and eternal life with him. But through the original sin that enters into us, our nature has been wounded, and we experience suffering and death. This was not part of God’s original plan, but it is part of the reality of our human lives now. Death for us is a frightening mystery because we are being stripped off of all our attachments to this world; our body lies corrupt; our immortal soul goes to meet the Lord. We will see the whole truth of our lives, and we will face God’s judgment. Death creates in us a feelings and emotion of fear, separation, sadness and pain. Many times we evade this reality and we try to question and argue with God why…? But all our efforts failed because whether we like it or not at the end we all die. Death comes in our life anytime anywhere. No material things, good health, young age can guarantee of its extension. If this life were the only one we had, death would definitely be the great tragedy. But In God’s plan, however, death is not the end of everything, but the border that enables every human being to enter the endless place of eternity. For all those who have done their best to respond to God’s grace, to die is to cross from an imperfect type of existence into a new and fuller life lived in God’s presence. Often we feel the greatest misfortunes, when death struck in a person, depriving him or her greatest treasures a person can possess which is life itself. Death is such a peaceful event in our life if we die in the state of grace, meaning if we did reconcile with God and at peace with others. Death is the end of our earthly life. Our lives are measured by time, in the course of which we change, grow old and, as with all other living beings on earth. Since it is unknown to all of us the time of our death, therefore, it is best that we prepare at all times, otherwise we are caught by surprise of not being ready when God comes to take us to be with Him forever in our eternal home in bliss.
