I Agreed, Caution album shows that Mariah still Stood the Test of Time and still can Reinvent Herself and keep up with Todays Music, the Entire album was so Fresh and so Current during that Period of Time, of course We got the Ballad but 60 Percent of the album were Full of Mid Tempo and UpTempo Dancy Type of Bops like the Fire Starter Mid Tempo EDM Influenced GTFO and then One More Gen, The Distance and then We have those Uptempo Beats Club Jams like Caution, A No No, Stay Long Love You, and Runway ❤️ All these Songs are some of the Best Sweet Sexy Sugary Bops that was in the Album, Caution is really the Best Album from Mariah in the 10’s cause it’s giving Me all the things I needed, So Fresh and So Current during that Time 😊💙

I wouldn't call it tasteless. There are old school Mariah fans who fell in love with her voice and big ballads in the 90s. Personally I look for tone quality, vibrato, runs, belts, high mix and in that departure Mariah just wasn't delivering anymore. I went to a concert during the caution tour and her voice declined so much. Whenever she had live parts during those pre-recorded old songs, there was such a drastic difference in tone and she was off key a lot... So I'm glad I saw her in 2003

LOVE this bc you get it - I do wish you explicitly called it what it is she does - songwriter/vocal arranger. In fact, I love vocal technique and that you lead with that, but I'm pretty sure she leads with songwriting first and uses her voice to make that work next -- I'd bet she cares less about vowel choices/placement than the words/notes she wrote! I love and appreciate technique but shes always said shes a songwriter first...some singers can sing, but she writes, and not many singers make their own material - and there are many videos to see where she says she's always a writer First.

Not sure I agree on the self-acceptance point. She's been making music in the studio for years now that she simply cannot perform without lip synching, suggesting she has not fully accepted where she is vocally. Presumably she records this music as she thinks this is what people want, or expect to hear from her. She's even on record saying recording songs in a super high key makes it more exciting for listeners. That's the basis of the (justified) criticism she's received over the years.
@oneilgerald6 ай бұрын
You definitely don’t have to agree with me on that. But if Mariah has the bravery to release any more music, the measure of self-acceptance deserves respect - no matter how great or small it is in our eyes.
@uchihaitachi59056 ай бұрын
@@oneilgerald Why would realising new music make her 'brave' ? She's already one of the most successful singers of all time. Don't get me wrong, I respect her talent. I just think she's mollycoddled by her fanbase who seem to think she's beyond any level of constructive or justified criticism.
@oneilgerald6 ай бұрын
It’d be brave because releasing music PERIOD is a brave act. Let alone releasing an album when the public is scrutinizing every note you sing. Have you ever released an album? Genuine question. And if you think her fanbase is devoid of constructive criticism, then I think you have just as limited a view of the fanbase as I did before I started asking lambs what they thought. All in all, there is a plethora of constructive and destructive criticism towards Mariah. Taking a position of celebrating her voice is simply a balancing of a VERY unbalanced scale.
@uchihaitachi59056 ай бұрын
@@oneilgerald No I've never released an album, but I do have a job that involves duties I knew about before signing up. Releasing albums and holding yourself up to public scrutiny comes with the territory of being a famous singer, all of which MC knows and is accustomed to. The word brave overstates the normality of what she is paid (very handsomely) to do. I'd have more understanding if it were her first album. I'd apply the word brave to firemen walking into burning buildings everyday, not a global icon who has countless successful hits and albums under her belt. Celebrating her voice is fine, I just think people fail to acknowledge the extent to which she is the architect behind much of the less than favourable criticism she receives. Balance is good, and I would argue she is more celebrated than not. Perhaps if she had recorded music that she was actually capable of singing live, she wouldn't face much of the hostility she currently does. The listener feels somewhat deceived.

And this is not any Hate ,but I do want to say as a lamb when you’re reacting to certain Mariah Carey performances you want to look for her facial expressions and the effort that she’s putting into her singing to see if she’s singing live or not because sometimes when you react to videos, you may never tell but definitely look for the effort she’s putting in and look at her face.
@oneilgerald6 ай бұрын
I realized after finishing filming that this one was probably a pre-record. I chose to edit and post anyway because A. I’ve reviewed pre-recorded performances before B. The things I said in the video are still reflective of what her voice is doing live or not. Thanks for looking out!

Mariah is probably the only artists whose fans go out of their way to pick her performances apart to make sport of figuring out if a performance is live or not. I don’t understand why and I don’t understand why everything she’s given us is still not enough for them. Just enjoy her still being here. Many are not.

@@RaytedG agreed but in my opinion this isn’t what I was doing. What I was doing is making sure the reactor Gerald in this case gets the best out of THEE MARIAH CAREY and not the studio version of Mariah Carey. As a fan of any artist you are allowed to be particular and have a say especially artists you hold deeply and dearly but you’re also allowed to be real. Mariah has given her ALL TO US and to music her voice is EXTREMELY OUT OF THIS WORLD SHE WAS A BEAST to me she is THEE VOCAL BIBLE but with THAT BEING SAID you can’t help but to notice the differences and factors and decline in her voice and can’t help but to wonder why or what happened and if a vocal coah is reacting he should be able to get the best of THEE MARIAH CAREY so we the fans can understand. Again im a huge Mariah supporter but I’m also a real fan and she has so many great live performances that real fans appreciate that we don’t want nobody wasting time on “ what if’s “ and “ pre records” that’s all I’m saying 🤷🏾♂️.
