I haven't been singing for many years (ok 10ish) since I left college other than an occasional woman's ensemble for church. I am a strong alto II singer. Where do you suggest to begin to get back to the capacity I was in college (competitive/honors choirs etc)? I would love to solo more and have been asked to do so, but just don't feel as confident as I did 10 years and 4 babies ago! I stumbled upon your page and I love this warmup! Thank you for sharing your talent!

Sarah Stalcup thanks for your comment! Trust me I can relate! After having two kids I do find it difficult to make time for singing and not pushing my music to the side. I can only imagine what it’s like with 4 😮 ❤️ I am glad you found this video! If you practiced with this video maybe 4-5 times a week, I think your voice would start coming back. Your vocal chords are like a muscle so the more you work them, the stronger they will be. I can tell you that after each baby I have taken a break from singing and it always takes me at least a month to get back where I used to be. I am always happy to answer questions and good luck getting back into the swing of things! Maybe make a goal to sing in church by the end of this year. Something you can work towards 😉
@stelagraciasanchez76516 жыл бұрын
hi sarah and of course, cherish! first time i was able to browse this, im convinced it's gonna really be helpful! the last time i sang in front of a big crowd was almost a decade ago! havin 2 kids with a one year and 4 months old tot (younger of 2) and strugglin for a week long work with a day-to-day travel, i don't really have the luxury of time to sing as much as i did. now, not only going gaga on preparations for an inter-school singing competition on a"Your Face Sounds Familiar" theme in celebration of the Teachers' month , practice itself is giving me a second thought to belt this song out. HOWEVER, this warm-up which i just tried few minutes ago (it's 1220 midnight-Philippine time)...i've been inspired and uplifted to pursue. btw, the competition will be on oct.01... hope i can catch up with a quality practice...thanks, cherish!

hi, can you give me some tips on how you taking care of your singing voice, coz everytime after i sing i really had a husky voice the day after and it takes a long weeks before my voice bring back to normal.
@CherishTuttleMusic6 жыл бұрын
Hi! It could be that you are holding on to your chest voice a little too much. Try releasing into your head voice a little more and keep your air passage way open while singing. That could mean trying slides up to your high notes so you learn how to release while singing high. Do ease up on how you are approaching singing. It shouldn’t feel tight or husky after singing. Good luck! I hope this helps and I can post some videos for you to try, particularly learning how to use your head voice if you would like?

Hi!! No I don't really have a video about this but I am actually a huge nutrition nerd. I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease back in 2007 and have taken my health seriously for several years now. I currently really agree with what Dr. Philip Goglia has discovered about metabolic typing. His website is here: www.pfcnutrition.com/. He takes your bloodwork and figures out what ratios of protein, fats, and carbs you should be eating. I am a believer in Macros! That is how I have learned to eat what I want, but try and fit the ratios of roughly 40% protein, 30% carbs and 30% healthy fats. I love weight lifting and cardio intermixed with strength training. I have also discovered how much sleep and water play a big role in my overall health. Sorry for the longwinded explanation. Haha there is no way to give a short answer about this. This has been a lifelong discovery for me of how to enjoy life and good health while learning my limits with an autoimmune disease. Let me know if you have any other questions!!

Thank you! I saw improvement, but it hurt to hit the highest note. Could this be because this is my first time hitting a note this high?

Tqueenboss I am impressed you even got to the highest note! These are very advanced vocal exercises. I would say make sure you are not tightening up your throat area and allowing air to pass through at all times. Definitely back off the loudness of the sound if you are hurting to hit the higher notes. After you are confident at singing these exercises more quiet, then you can add more volume. Make sure you are breathing correctly too! If you are supporting and breathing correctly while singing, a lot of times it will take the pressure off your vocal chords.
