Here is the Dame Shirley Bassey Archive for 2020. I wasn't sure there would be an archive last year, and then the joy of hearing a new album was coming brought new hope.
The year starts with a lovely portrait by Kiko Alcazar, Lego's Mini Welsh Legends, then lockdown happened and would we see the Dame this year?
Finally a few outings with Manel and Thomas in Monaco, then the announcement of an album of new material was thrilling.
The first sighting of the gold sequinned gown and then the virtual mask (yes that is me behind the mask too) - the Hello article proved this was a special event, followed by the unveiling of the work under such extreme difficulties due to Covid lockdowns worldwide.
I Owe It All To You is a class album with a great sound, producer Nick Patrick nailed it, with classic songs sung in the Bassey style, surprising covers of Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Barry Manilow and new songs that fit right in.
For this archive I have used the first 3 pieces of music from the album,
The Overture, Who Wants To Live Forever and I Owe It All To You.
I hope you enjoy this edition of the Dame Shirley Bassey Archives,
there are now over 100 archives to choose from and more to come.

I have been collecting Dame Shirley for over 50 years and have digitised my entire collection by date from newspapers, magazines, photos, programs, sheet music and of course the music.
I hope this series of videos will help tell Dame Shirley's story in a lineal way for fans new and old.
As a child whenever I found a photo of Dame Shirley I would wonder what the story behind the picture was, and I still do. I would cut out news clippings and put together multiple scrapbooks,
then the internet came along and an explosion of knowledge. Now I know some of the stories behind many of the photos and hope you get enjoyment in finding these stories too.
If you have an image from this year that I haven't included, please consider scanning it and sharing it. If you have a newspaper clipping, review or any other item that would expand the story please let me know. Dating items is a tricky process but I have tried as best I can to get the timeline correct.
I hope you enjoy this series which will be ongoing, so please subscribe for new postings to come.
