I can't tell you how pleasing it is to see people continuing to discover Sarah some 34 years after her death. She's simply the greatest singer there has ever been.

Monsieur, I saw Sarah several times in concert. She was even more incredible. I miss her terribly. I don't think we will ever come close to her genius.

@@ellasaraharethaShe was scheduled to perform at a John Lennon memorial concert here in the UK but died a month earlier. She had been mortally ill for about 7 months by then so the booking must have been made long before. Her replacement at the concert was Kylie Minogue, what a joke!

Interesting to note that Ella Fitzgerald went on record saying that she thought Sarah V was the best singer of her generation.

Any of her songs from the 1964 show where "Misty" was from or her 1967 tour with Bob James trio are also exquisite. "The Shadow of Your Smile" is breathtaking.

It's the subtle things that Sarah Vaughan does that makes her so special. Those little glissandos, the small runs and use of vibrato, note choice, along, of course, with the impeccable tone and pitch. I've had this discussion before, and it's my opinion, of course, I'm not a big fan over over using massive vocal runs, but they are sublime when used in what I call a tasteful manner, just like Sarah did. A beautiful timeless song, thanks Charlie, and well reacted.

I'm a Gen X'er but my Mom loved Sarah Vaughn. I remember hearing her when I was a kid but it was an adult that I truly appreciated her talent. I love her voice. I like listening to her sing "Black Coffee", "Broken Hearted Melody" and "Misty".

I saw her in an outdoor festival in Baltimore in the 80s and she sang Someone to Watch Over Me . The crowd was completely silent and mesmerized by her voice. Divine one is an accurate description of her . What a voice.

One of my favorite singers!! Always loved this rendition of Over The Rainbow. Sensational Sarah - that could be her name!! She'll astonish you with every song you hear her sing. Some great duets with Billy Eckstine, too!

i have loved her work for many years . i was able to see her perform in a small club in london.( ronnie scotts ) and she was magnificent. if you like this version of rainbow get a hold of her Live in Japan double album - may be one cd now - mid/late 70's i believe...it is immaculate.
@shannonk.moorer91583 ай бұрын
My favorite version is her live 1964 performance on Sassy Swings The Tivoli, where she minors "over the rainbow" as well as the dramatic ending. That double album is a masterpiece with her in peak vocal form. Consider reacting to the soundies for You're Mine, You and The Nearness of You, running them to the end for proof that they were live vocal recordings.

This lady is the epitome of perfection. She masters the voice, the phrasing, the timing, everything. And she makes every listener cry of joy. Personally I prefer this version: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYWwgneditp6f5I Also worth mentioning: Her Kirk Stuart trio is unbeatable.... there is a performance in Juan les Pins which is even better. couldn't find it...

A most captivating, in every way, artist. When you’ve got ‘IT’ you don’t need to be mostly naked, have a mob on stage with you, gyrate and run around, crazy lights and pyrotechnics. You can wear a classy evening gown and stand in place and still command the stage while keeping the audience rapt. Way to go Charlie. Stay safe and stay well. 😎✌🏻🤙🏻🖖🏻

Sarah Vaughan is truly one of the greatest singers ever. Her 1981 album Songs of the Beatles puts a wonderful jazz spin to those classics too - songs that would be great for you to react to! Cheers! 😊

Omgosh I’m so excited that a reaction channel I love is listening to The Devine One. Miss Vaughan’s rendition of Summertime that says something about “best version” in the video title will leave you speechless If you haven’t already, please react to Raye performing Mary Jane at the Montreux Jazz Festival. I’ve been saying for a while now that “Raye is what’s been missing.” Superlatives fail to adequately describe Raye. It takes an idea to even get close. The other thing I’ve been saying about Raye is that she’s like the love child of Amy Winehouse and Sarah Vaughan, yet entirely her own and entirely modern. She is extraordinary ETA - Ok I hadn’t gotten to the part where you talk about what’s been missing in music. You get it! Please do check out that Raye performance

The Instrumental is cool and low. 3 , Bass, Piano, Drums. Sarah the Sassy one. She can go low, low, and forever high, and higher. You were born too late man.

Again, thanks for this. As with any song, no one ever has, ever does, or ever will do it like SV! There IS another vocalist whose version of this is IMO very beautiful! Christine Ebersole is a sadly underrated singer (mostly theater) and her version of "Rainbow" gets to me every time. I'm never sure whether links put into the Comments are usable, but here's one just in case: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWOQfn18l66rha8si=eA2ZU8H7rxd2cQrr
