That is much like how I felt during my first experience, although I had already been a fan before I watched their Forces of the Northern Night Tour. I love how in touch with your feelings you are and that you don't hide from them, which takes a lot of courage, especially with a KZbin channel. You're amazing, don't ever change! I look forward to watching more of your reactions.

When people say they don't understand black or death metal I've shown them this live version of Gateways, and they always drop their jaw. For more emotional metal, check out the vid for Darker Thoughts by Paradise Lost.

"Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" would be another great video from this set ("Forces of the Northern Night" DVD) that can be easily found on KZbin. Since you seem to have taken a liking for the style, if you want to go further listening to black metal, my advice would be to not get stuck with the "founding fathers" of the style (Burzum, Gorgoroth, Dark Throne), etc. Black metal goes way beyond this these days. You can check out the "Odium Nostrum" KZbin channel most popular videos to get a taste of what the style has to offer.

Also the lyrics are amazing and uplifting song as well, Dimmu is Metallica of Norway basically they perform often at their grammy's all the time as well. It's crazy that a Black Metal band is mainstream as they are really, no other black metal band are as mainstream as them they are really really good.

Should definitely do Progenies Of The Great Apocalypse from Dimmu Borgir Also if you like Symphonic Metal you should check out Nightwish and Epica they are brilliant
@Gorerupted15 күн бұрын
If you want to see Dimmu Borgir at their peak, try their song The Insight and the Catharsis with their old bassplayer Vortex. They use now a whole choir or a keyboard for his parts.. just a whole bunch of people to replace one man with the voice of an angel.

Dimmu Borgir have had these symphonic elements on their records since the nineties! The wh😢ole show is available on dvd! Progenies of the Great Apocalypse or Kings of the Carnival Creation from the same show is my next suggestion. Or the music videos of Interdimensional Summit or Council of Wolf's and Snakes. In the latter there are video from the real Dimmu Borgir, a rock formation on Iceland. Dimmu Borgir means Misty Fortress in Icelandic.
@steinovemjeldheim5132Ай бұрын
Dimmu=Dark Borgir =Castles Correct translation is "Dark Castles". (I'm not an expert in Icelandic myself, but I asked a friend of mine from Iceland. Which, by the way,is a strange, wonderful country.)

You need to react to "the serpentine offering" from Dimmu Borgir my friend... 😅😁
@LorePlayingGamesАй бұрын
Glad you liked it. You should react to "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse" from Ozzfest 2004 or "Insight and Catharsis" live from Oslo or Wacken, when they still had ICS Vortex at bass and clean vocals. These will be a little rough because of their age, but Vortex vocals are incomparable and no choir will ever match them.

The best reaction I've ever seen to this piece of art! Tbh, in front of such a complex mixture and dozens of instruments the only face that makes sense to me if you're really paying attention to everything is a shocked one as yours. I can tell you're into the song and not even paying attention to the camera. Good one

Skálmöld & Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands - Kvaðning has pretty much the same quality and production value (in my eyes the feeling of the whole concert is even better). But it's more viking- than black metal. If you look at the letters/spelling you can guess why it's way more underrated :P

One of the two roots of Heavy Metal is Classical Music (the other being The Blues) and as you can see here that blending symphony orchestras with music as aggressive as Black Metal actually works really well, doesn't it? Metallica did their S&M albums, Accept also did a symphony backed concert if i recall, and of course several symphonic Metal groups have used full or partial symphonies before. Visions of Atlantis used one in their last couple of releases. Epica used one. Um, and i think Delain uses one as well. Nightwish might, but i'm not sure. Thoumas kinda does all that orchestra backing himself with his keyboard live or with pre-recorded backing tracks.

10:01 "... who thought to put all of those elements together? An orchest, an orchestra, a choir and a black metal band."_ Dimmu Borgir isn't the first rock/metal band who performed with an orchestra and a choir. Apart from the fact that Deep Purple & Dream Theater started this trend, these bands did it too: • Metallica (🤮) • Satyricon - Live at the Opera (2015) • Skálmöld - & Sinfóníuhljómsveit Íslands (2013) • Therion _(constantly when live)_

Charli, I love your channel and have enjoyed your reviews, Especially your response to the Choir at Temple Square out in Utah. I’m writing today to ask you to honestly compare your feelings as you listened to the choir’s renditions of Come Thou Fount, and the Battle Hymn of the Republic, and other songs to how you feel when you’re listening to this. The songs that the choir sing are inspired by the Holy Spirit and those listening are able to feel that spirit. What spirit is inspiring this music? I’ll leave that to you to decide and to those who read this post, but I tell you that I felt darkness and ugliness when I listened to this. Not all music is created equal.
