Zhou Shen is one of my favorite singers. He has the voice of an angel. Alhtough he doesn't always sing that high, he sings in head voice/falsetto most of the time. His voice hardly changed during puberty and because of that he was badly discriminated at school. Zhou Shen had to overcome many obstacles to get where he is now. He is one of Chinas's most popular singer. BTW, Zhou Shen's western name is Charlie. 🙂 Sa Dinging is also a popoluar singer /songwriter in China. She wrote "Upwards to the moon" and originally sang it. It's the theme song of the Chinese drama "Ashes of Love".

Thanks for reacting to “Upwards To The Moon” As a matter of fact everyone who hears Zhoushen the first time mostly have the same reaction as yours. I was drawn by Dimash but when I heard Zhoushen Dimash is out of my list. Zhoushen is sent from heavenly born to be an “Angel” whose voice is so angelic high and healing and comforting. Zhoushen artistry musicianship will 100% surprised you. He is the only male singer who was trained professionally as a Bel Canto tenor, self trained countertenor and a shockingly Versatile pop singer and OST singer. If you choose to listen more, then welcome to the wonderful world of Charlie/Zhou (sounds like Joe) Shen. He is an amazing singer but more than that his musicality and music repertoire are immense. While he generally likes to sing in his head/falsetto voice, he can also sing deeper (for him). He has an amazing tone and can manipulate his voice effortlessly to sing in different voices including Chinese opera. He just released a long-awaited album and we are devouring his new music. He is a prolific performer and recorded over 100 OSTs so his catalog is immense. I can't recommend him highly enough. Check out his performances of Ring the Doorbell, Song of Heaven Island, Brightness, Listen, You Are Ruthless, and Rose Boy, just to name a few. He sings in 12 languages and speaks at least 6 of them. Not the only one to compare him to Dimash. Although I believe they each are different and deservedly own their stages. Would love to see them perform together. Also, Sa Sa Ding is an amazing Chinese folk singer who wrote the music of Upward to the Moon. Very gifted as well.

Some say Zhou Shen is a Dimash No.2. See his different vocal registers for example in “Dalabengba” or “Four great masterpieces”. Sa Ding Ding is an older singer and composer, but too involved in defending the Tibetan cause to have had the career she deserved. See her great classic “Alive”, adapted from a Buddhist mantra. Hypnotic ! You can find these two wonderful singers in another duet even more beautiful than this one: 自由行走的花 (free moving flower).

Charlie Zhou Shen is a fantastic artist. He is truly one of a kind. His output is ridiculous and mixed in terms of styles. For me his version of Memory is the best you’ll ever hear (if you watch it have subs on as he adds a verse in Mandarin), mind anything you pick to listen to will amaze you. Ok so here it is. Zhou Shen is a male performer, he was around 18 at the time of this production and has the most amazing range of any male singer, he ranges from baritone to high soprano, he was teased in school for his hi pitched voice. Sa Dingding is the most loved female singer in China, she's of Mongolian heritage and is a Mongolian folk singer. The production is a celebration of the autumn festival which is part of the lunar new year, you have 3 parts of the lunar new year first is in February the Chinese new year which you eat Dim Sum or dumplings to celebrate it and a red envelope is given to family and friends with money in it, the second is the mid summer dragon boat festival, and the third is the autumn festival which you eat red bean paste moon cakes I'm American but my wife is Chinese (not Chinese American) and we watched it live on Wechat my wife's sister was there and sent us the feed. It was an outdoor concert, the large moon in the background is the real moon, the lunar moths are drones. The song is from a Chinese television series called Ashes Of Love which Sa Dingding acted in, and she co-wrote the song.

Dimash is Dimash. Zhou is Zhou. Dimash can sing in any style and any genre, can go extremely low to estremely high. While Zhou can only sing high. Dimash always maintain his voice as "male" voice in high register while Zhou sounds "female" to my ears. 😊😊😊
