Michael was in a very bad spot in his life during this year/period, with all the stress from the (fake) acussations, while also trying to keep up with the Dangerous Tour and other different useless lawsuits against him acussing him of plagiarism... It's amazing MJ was even able to go as long as he could with this tour with all of that going on in the background.

7:22 is when there some live singing (screaming). Everything before that is lipsync. It's easy to prove this by listening to the original recording. So unfortunately this reaction video is based on a misunderstanding. You are right that he did a lot of actual singing 1993, but not on this Smooth Criminal performance.

I think the only time Smooth Criminal was sung live without playback assisting him was during the Bad tour in the late 80s, correct me if i’m wrong! Pretty much all of the song on this tour was playback.

Whole performance is lip synced my dear. Even during bad tour. Never sang smooth criminal live. Original song is not even the original song since it was sped up and pitched up. He couldn’t have performed this song live as it sounds in studio version at any time of his life. Still love your work tho. Especially when you talk about Michael. Only songs live during dangerous tour are WBSS, human nature, just can’t stop loving you, SOOML, medley, Billie Jean, Working day and night, Beat it, and end of Man in the mirror. It’s already huge.

Smooth Criminal was only sang fully live in the first few concerts of the 2nd leg of the Bad Tour (so the march 1988 concerts.) Although Smooth Criminal was indeed sped up for the album version, the live performances were done with the original pitch of the song + an even faster tempo in comparison to the album version, which was already sped up. It would have been impossible for Mike to perform this song in this way without lip-syncing for the rest of the Bad Tour.
