I'm a highschooler who got lucky enough to sing tenor 1 on this song. I've tried all of the parts of the song, and I'm obsessed. Every time I hear this song, I get chills down my back. Its heavenly, and I don't think any words other than divine could describe it.

This song has so much meaning to me. I sang tenor in high school to this song. That was many years ago. To hear this now brings tears to my eyes. There's so much meaning. I hope that anyone listening feels even a little of what I feel when I hear this. So beautiful.

I've sung this with the Fordham University Concert Choir & the 8 part harmony (male & female voices) is absolutely stunning. It's also longer. I'm a little disappointed they didn't do the other verses before moving into the "Santa Maria." Such gorgeous voices- would have loved more.

I sang an all-male version of this in college, Portland State University, and it gave me chills then, and it does now. Then, years later, many of us guys came back together to sing it for one of our fellow chorister's wedding. It was magical! I agree that I am sad this amazing group didn't perform the entire piece.

As Blake has doubtless mentioned, this work long ago became sort of Chanticleer's "alma mater", and they performed it at nearly every concert, and once had the honor of performing it before Franz Biebl himself. But I must confess, I actually prefer your rendition! The sopranos are absolutely ethereal!

That Amen at the end *chef's kiss* My biggest criticism when ensemble's perform this tends to be that the stay a tempo all the way through with no pauses, which can make it feel like they're actually rushing because of how drawn out the Amen's are. VOCES8 perfectly interprets that it needs to be savored. The exhalation is exaltation, a firm affirmation. "So be it" (You don'y have to be religious to get it though)
