My first exposure to Voddie is when my brother wanted to explain Ephesians 5:22-33 to me. I was the typical modern woman and didnt understand God's design for us. I was hung up on this verse about women submitting to their husbands and what that means. Voddie did a series on this subject and more. He said it doesn't mean "me man, you woman, I say, you do". Thats when he got my attention and through his explain of the Bible, he helped bring me closer to God and accept God's beautiful design for men and women.

@@roku89107 no, The devil whispered in this man’s ear about the chosen, he took words and twisted them as the devil did with Jesus… When you have to add reform to your church… You got issues. The Bible does it need anything added to it… And that’s not what the chosen is. It is not to take place of your Bible, they tell you that. What they should tell you wish to take place of the garbage in your life if you watch any sports, TV shows, you go to the movies, even the Christian programming on tv. Matt 24:4-5, 23-26. Col 2:18 his mind is proud saying he’s had visions, he heard this… How about the people that can’t read. I minister to some of them. Col 2:8, 1 Cor 1:12-end. Saying you only follow this or that or only Christ Paul talks about it. Then the philosophers of the world, anybody who’s been to any type of training is that person. That doesn’t make your heart right with God it doesn’t make you a biblical priest. That would be one Peter 2:5, nine, Revelation 1:6, 5:10. 1 Cor 3:1-4, 18-23. Tit 3:9. He has such an influence, and now people are going to watch the chosen because the demon here said God told him not to. What do you actually should’ve said is Romans 14 it’s first 23 be the end of it if you think anything is a sin then it’s a sin for you and it’s a saying if you do it. But it doesn’t make it the same for others. He uses all this philosophy and all this stuff to sound good… And he’s gonna pay a high penalty for that garbage… That would be James 3: one in the app version for him and then anybody that likes to try to correct others the AMPCE

As an evangelist and a bjj purple belt, the mats are my mission field. There are so many parallels between the jiu jitsu journey and walking with the Lord. It naturally opens people up to hearing the gospel. Colossians 3:23-24 (ESV): Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, 24 knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

Could you share a parallel or two?
@mattcasselman5399
@mattcasselman5399 Жыл бұрын
@chrislabrec5055 Parallel’s between jiu jitsu and following Jesus I beheld, then, that they all went on till they came to the foot of the Hill Difficulty; at the bottom of which was a spring. There were also in the same place two other ways besides that which came straight from the gate; one turned to the left hand, and the other to the right, at the bottom of the hill; but the narrow way lay right up the hill, and the name of the going up the side of the hill is called Difficulty. Christian now went to the spring, and drank thereof, to refresh himself, and then began to go up the hill, saying- "The hill, though high, I covet to ascend, The difficulty will not me offend; For I perceive the way to life lies here. Come, pluck up heart, let's neither faint nor fear; Better, though difficult, the right way to go, Than wrong, though easy, where the end is woe." Following Jesus most certainly isn’t easy. Jesus tells us as much. The narrow gate: few will find it, less will take it, most won’t make it until the end. In the same way, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu isn’t easy. The process of sanctification is just that, a process. This honing and aligning of your morals and values can seem like a roller coaster. The reality is that this process that feels like a lot of ups and downs is actually moving in an upward trajectory. Everyone starts the process of sanctification in the same place, with a regenerate heart. But the process from there may look very different for a Muslim convert than it does for a convicted rapist. In much the same way, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a long and arduous process filled with daily successes and failures. Your training will be affected by the circumstances of life. Your dedication can vary depending upon the season. Time, family commitment, and injury will all play a role. Some days, you may wonder why you keep coming back. Other days, you feel unbeatable. A collegiate or high school wrestler is going to start from a different place than a middle-aged hobbyist (like me). We are on the same journey. Headed to the same destination but will get there by differing means using the methods and gifts that each of us has been given. Matthew 7: 13-14 Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy[a] that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. 14 For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. Matthew 13:18-23 18 “Hear then the parable of the sower: 19 When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path. 20 As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away.[b] 22 As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. 23 As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.” Community and discipleship is another place where Jiu Jitsu and Christianity overlap. The gym often looks a lot like the church in that it is a collective effort that produces individual growth. As much as the church is diverse, the jiu jitsu school is very much the same. People from all walks of life coming together under a collective desire for mastery over the art. Professors ((black belts) ministers of the gospel) pouring into the group. Brown belts/purple belts(deacons/elders) working individually with people to help them grow in the sport (faith). Blue belts giving tips and instruction to white belts (new converts). White belts sharing the gospel of jiu jitsu with the guy taking the free trial class (open non-believer) These roles not being exclusive but, you get my drift. I think it’s important to note that there is one big difference that does not run parallel between these two things. It’s the thing that separates the gospel of Jesus Christ from every other religion and worldly pursuit. Jiu Jitsu is very much a culture of self-achievement. Just like Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and secular humanism. It’s about works based success. Following Christ is not. I’ve found that sharing all of these similarities is the perfect segway into talking about the unique nature of Christ and the upside down Kingdom He calls us into. I hope I got close to providing the answer you were looking for. God’s blessings to you and yours!

Man, i hope you read it and reply cuz we share the same experience! Dude, i also have my mat (muay thai in case) as my mission field. I went there with a specific calling from the LORD, a very strong and later confirmed conviction that God wanted me to get in there to lead a person there to Him (that was in the beginning of june last year). This person became a very dear friend of mine and i'm still trying to reach him. I little later another guy showed up, as i started to befriend this new one, he showed himself to be a danger to my spiritual health so i decided not to befriend him, but of course treat him with civility and "friendliness". The first one is still an unbeliever (and often seems he's not gonna be saved), and the new one, that i didn't befriend and deemed too dangerous to my spiritual health (talked so much about sex to me that incited temptations in me) is pretty much one step away from salvation, understood the gospel, is ashamed of his sins, afraid that there's no more forgiveness (i always tell him when he brings that up, that half the new testament was written by a guy who used to hunt down and kill christians, but is in heaven and there was forgiveness to him. All he needs to do s repent of his sins and turn to Jesus), but he wants to make sure what i'm telling him is true, so i recommended him to watch "the case for christ" and he was eager to watch (one of the very few christian movies that is good, highly reccomend). Sadly, tomorrow august 9th 2023, is gonna be the last time i'll see him and i hope he watches the movie till then and is ready to repent next time i see him. I worry about the one i did befriend cuz he seems to be further and further away, however God showed me clearly i still have work in his life, so it gave me hope.

I never said he was above Jesus. It feels like you guys may have taken that too far. Christ is above all to me. Just was complimenting Voddie. Men don’t lead anymore and Voddie still does. He’s a good man to look at for young men. Which I have a son. That’s all. And for the person who brought up Calvinist-- Voddie preaches the Word. That’s all that matters.

It is historically and biblically incorrect on many things and Jesus is represented strangely. It does not please the Holy Spirit.

There is an entire generation of evans that have not read “Knowing God” by JI Packer. Voddie probably has and this may lead to not being able to get behind “The Chosen.” That book, “Knowing God,” is a must. Great interview BTW

I know it's just a video title... but I'm getting ready to head back to BJJ tonight after having not gone all summer due to my son's baseball games. I'm going to be so tired, I'll probably feel like I'm close to being "called home" tonight lol Edit: Oh! Voddie actually does BJJ! That's even better lol I'd recommend anyone who is physically capable to try it. I've had 2 back surgeries, so I was really nervous to do it, but my back has held up fine and actually feels better when I'm going regularly (other than a time or two I've tweaked it, and those were doing judo throws, not the on the ground stuff). I think it's probably because I'm gaining flexibility and moving more, and strengthening my core when I'm working. This was perfect timing to watch today. Feel even more excited to go now lol

Voddie Baucham is obviously being used in wonderful way by God. Calvinists and I don't agree theologically on everything, but do agree on most. So. Cal. is lucky in August to have Voddie, Amir Tsarfati, and Of Course Jack Hibbs all doing amazing work! They are VERY blessed!

When people say breaking the 2CV. It They’re referring to second commandment verse. Meaning not allowing for any images of Christ of any kind.

Thanks for this podcast. In regards to the 55 min mark and persecution for God, how do we as Christians know when to fight for something or when to turn the other cheek as Jesus preached? I’ve always been confused as to when I should stand or when I shouldn’t. Any insight is welcomed. Thanks
@anthonyfava9367

Fighting for something should be macro, such as against a movement. Turning the other cheek is a more individual instruction, so micro-interactions.

@Garthant
@Garthant Жыл бұрын
@@TheStudentOfLife808 I think what Anthony is saying is that there is a difference between a personal attack and an attack on a set of principles. For example, if someone were to insult you (that's what a slap on the cheek represents) your duty as a Christian is to continue to act in generosity and love towards them and not let your own pride goad you to respond in kind. Please note that a slap on the cheek is not a threat against your safety. If your safety is threatened as a Christian, you absolutely have the right to respond in self-defense. On the other hand, if someone is attacking the Word of God by saying that the Bible condones homosexuality, that has nothing to do with personal loss or insults. In that situation every Christian should naturally feel a desire to fight for the truth. I think another thing to consider is what we mean by "fight". The early Christian church "fought" against the pagan religion of Rome and eventually overcame it by simply sharing the truth and refusing to bow to Caesar, even at the cost of their own lives. They didn't mount an insurrectionist guerilla campaign, they simply refused to compromise on their convictions. If you are speaking the truth boldly in love towards those around you and not responding to others out of your own pride, you will do well.
@TheStudentOfLife808
@TheStudentOfLife808 Жыл бұрын
Ok. I think I get it. “Turn the other cheek” is referring to more of an insult which isn’t critical to “win”(even tho my pride wants me to) and something like my mortal safety or defending the truth is a must. I think I get it.
