German is an excellent language for fine, exact, emotional vocal art. It doesn't sound all too charming when spoken in everyday life, although there are far worse examples, but other popular languages like English or French, which normally sound really good in songs, lack this distinct clarity to fit this type of music. If you couldn't convey my point, compare The Wolven Storm from Paperblossom with the official english version and pay close attention. (copy-pasted since I just wrote the exact reply needed here one comment chain above.)

Porfavor... Native pronunciation is very different from the original!! So beautiful and powerful! By the way, when Sawano puts lyrics in his music, he tries to use foreign languages not to disturb the concentration of the anime audience (this comment is especially towards Japanese people). I don’t know, but from this sense, he might not have needed natural and perfect native pronunciation and just focused on the musical effect...(?) But I personally think he should’ve got the lyrics checked by a native speaker at least... (I saw some comments pointing grammatical errors.) Anyway, German is very beautiful language! I really like the covers by native. It seems difficult to get used to distinguishing many consonants, the case inflections and everything...for us Japanese😂

With acting, I get that there are logisitical challenges to hire foreign actors and that drives up the cost, but I don't think that's really the case with voice acting. I mean, just hire a german singer and have them record it in Germany. What is modern communication good for if not for something like this?

I guess it's harder to get a german singer in japan than a japanese singer that can sing in german. And I think the song writer would like to do that together with the singer so they can get the best results. It's a pity, it would have been way more authentic with original german, native germans (like me) barely understand a word from the japanese singer, even though she sings it very beautiful.

Paperblossom-san, how about contacting Hiroyuki-sensei and volunteering yourself to do the OST for Attack on Titan S2? considering how you are the most popular German that did his cover in youtube right now, maybe you really have a chance for that :)

Unfortunately japanese producers only work with japanese musicians, to promote their own musicians, so it's very unlikely to happen, for SNK or any other anime

@@jorockeur There is one native singer in some of the tracks, his german sounds flawless.

It feels like Levi is sleeping in a tree, and the music at maximum volume with the vibe Levi is giving off like he’s Inuyasha is really giving me peace of mind right now
