Hey Chris, I have a dumb question. Have you ever fossicked an old gravel or sand pit in your area? Do you even have such things in Ozzie? Here in the states, there are quite a few places where companies mine sand and gravel deposits, selling the product as play sand, or for construction materials. Anyway, they use a vibrating contraption to separate and grade the material, like a dry washer, I guess. Some of the old abandoned sites (usually from smaller, independent operations) still have tailings piles, with untouched layers of heavies in them. (After all, most people don't even know there is gold in my area, unless they are in the hobby...) Hope my question made sense, because I'm not the brightest bulb in the pack.
@Gold-Prospecting-Bulgaria2 жыл бұрын
Some of these sand mines have lots of gold! Old prospector once told me a story how back in the 90-s they taught such mine operators in Bulgaria to extract the gold from the sand to earn additional profits. They simply added large sluice boxes to the wash plants. And immediately they began to extract on average 5 grams of gold per day. Enough to pay for the fuel cost of the whole operation! But they had to keep it quiet, because they didn't have permit for a gold mining company. 🙂They only have permit for mining sand for construction.

When you have really low water areas as long as you have some flow dig yourself a good size hole in line with even a small flow and where you might not have had a deep enough spot to scoop water or pan it will then give you a spot where you have a larger sum of water that will build up and then not have any problem especially for using a rocker box or panning

In ontario canada they don't even want you panning back into the river because the stirred up sediment can effect biology down stream. They want you to do it in a little hole a meter or so away from the river. No sluce boxes at all.

What do you think about trying to use a cordless leaf blower for your dry washer to try and save weight compared to using the gas powered vacuum/blower?
@markfryer98802 жыл бұрын
It is an option, but remember that battery powered equipment is still not as powerful as petrol engine powered equipment in terms of performance against weight. Don't get me wrong, I love the flexibility of all of the cordless equipment available today, but there are times when you need to assess which power source is the best for the operation to be performed.

I’m thinking as that water comes off the high banker thing maybe set something underneath where the water comes out that could filter the water through and keep the material from above so you could actually check and see what amount your actually loosing . Your a smart guy I’m sure figure something out . Maybe a bucket or storage container drill holes about half n inch up from the bottom so the water gets out and the material stays ? Idk maybe you already do just shooting n idea
@gadzee5062 жыл бұрын
We just shovel the tailings in a pan and test what the loss rate is if we get alot of specks then we alter the highbanker on a lower angle and maybe drop the flow rate of the water.
