I compare Gold Prospecting like fishing. You spend big $$$ for tackle gear and accessories to catch a $10 fish. However, you never know when you'll catch the big one !! Like you said, it's the pleasure and memories make it fun. Cheers !! 🤠

Trolls are a sign that you have a successful channel. If you're finding lots of gold they will accuse you of salting it, if you are finding very little they will say you are wasting your time. Ignoring and or blocking them is the best cure. Have a great day.

Gold prospecting is a way of life!!! I have a creek in my back yard. I never even went to it for 7 years after we bought the 10 acres of land. I had been watching videos of prospectors and decided to go check out my creek. I absolutely love it now! I don't give a damn if I find a bunch of gold or not. I am retired at age 46 so prospecting is just for fun now and always will be! I may go get a few claims out west later but for now i am fine here. If anyone gives you bad comments just ignore the idiots! They have no clue of how fun the prospecting life is! Basically, we all enjoy different things so go do what you like and if it isn't prospecting then go watch the videos of what you like and leave us the heck alone! Some of us don't need money because we already made all we need!! Oh, I just ordered the gold monster 1000!!! Yay for me!! Next I will be buying the gpx5000! For those 2 detectors is $5k. I have already found some gold and I hope Noone else gets in the hobby so I can find it all, haha j/k!

you're right mate, it's all about the fun of looking and maybe finding something, never about the money...I know an old bloke who has been going out for years, gold was about three or four hundred an ounce then. Now he has a pile of it worth about 20,000. The point being, gold keeps going up and all those 10, 20 and 30 dollar finds finally add up to a decent sum.

Awesome video! My favorite tip that I just discovered - if you want ULTRA COMPACT, put on the small coil, and unscrew one section of rod. Attach the "stick adapter" that comes in the box (the thing that allows you to attach the coil to any kind of stick) to the end of the section of rod, and put the rest of the detector together on the one section. It all fits. It works for me, it might work for someone else, too :)

Ignore the nay-sayers. They're just jealous that thru aren't out doing something interesting. A lot of people ask me the same question when i show them gold i have collected. Where did you get it? I found this giant boulder that had been carved out by the river, scooped out all the loose bits, and found some specks I could actually see! Next I plan on buying a yabby pump. I found tons of great crevices but had a hard time getting in there. I knew my hand shovel wasn't adequately getting the gold resting on the bedrock and I feel like the park visitors would be unhappy seeing me hacking away at the ground with a pickaxe.

Still coming to grips with the GM 05, haven't used it nearly as much as the 10, but it seen to work for you and LDC and Busted Nuckles so I've tried it out but I've been nowhere near as successful as the GM10. I had the Gold Monster for six months and passed it on - Never, ever *genuinely* found a piece of gold with that machine - only blind-planted test pieces. Been taking an oldschool (20yo) minelab PI to some of the EXACT (to the foot) locations I'd run the monster over, and I've pulled multiple nuggets in 30 minutes from only an inch under.... And this was ground that was 'quiet' for the monster. Took it up to the rich fields in north qld too and again, nothing - after five solid days detecting over known rich locations. Others around us with GPX's were just yankin' it out. That said, I'm confident that it can find gold - I was digging up lead nuggets smaller than a grain of rice from between 2-4 inches, and found a crapload of pennies, halfpennies, buttons, alfoil and other stuff. It's just not productive enough on small nuggets compared to a PI machine. Our ground is just far too noisy for high-gain VLF. A tip that I found helped detect the smallest pieces (of lead in my case) - run it WAYYYYY SUPER HOT on 'shallow'/discrim mode, and ignore the screen when searching. It will be noisy as all heck with the ferrous tone, so get used to the different tones. When it beeps a nonferrous tone, switch to deep and lower the threshold to a more tolerable level to pinpoint the target. In all I don't recommend the Gold Monster to anyone looking at buying a detector *for prospecting in Australia*. If you're gonna use it on the beach and such too, go ahead - it's a SUPER SUPER SUPER SENSITIVE VLF MACHINE (beats the living CRAP out of a CTX3030). In terms of build quality, useability, included accessories and basically every other factor, the Gold Monster as a product is RIDICULOUSLY GOOD value and quality. But for a prospector, I just can't recommend it. Honestly I thought I was doing something wrong. I just had the wrong equipment all along.

Hi mate what would you recommend for a first gold detector? I was thinking of this one but now I think I should pay for a pi detector

@@cockroachman27 It really depends on what sort of terrain you'll be detecting in, and your strategy. In Australia, a majority of the remaining good gold will be found in remote ground with a high amount of iron (C-QLD, WA). If you're detecting areas with small chunks and low iron (more bushy areas than flat red terrain, like in VIC/golden triangle), then the gold monster will be great - if there's gold remaining there. Areas like central north QLD and WA will fare much better with a PI, as the high level of iron changing frequently in small areas will require frequent ground balancing and low levels of trash. The GM picked up far smaller targets than my heavily modified PI does in victoria, however in QLD the GM is near useless on the iron rich soil. The PI performs beautifully in this case. It comes down to your strategy, budget, dedication and location. If you're doing it purely as a hobby, the GM might very well be perfect for you, but keep in mind every man and their dog can afford a GM, a car, and can get to the easy spots. If you're more dedicated, are willing to go on multi-day 4WD detecting trips to geologically researched & difficult areas, wearing a harness, and spending the time to dig every target, then the PI will be the way to go, as you'll find the targets that the less dedicated prospectors will pass up purely because of time/effort/cost restraints.

@@orsmplus thanks for the reply. I am in SA and I am very keen to take the 4wd to WA for extended periods in the bush as I have family out that way. I would like it to be more than just a hobby. My friend that I go fossicking with is buying a gold monster so I was thinking of getting a PI for more mineralized stuff. Any recommendations for a PI detector for a novice to buy? I was looking at the SDC but I don't believe the coil can be changed.

@@cockroachman27 Great! If you get a PI and your buddy has a gold monster, you'll be ready for any terrain. I don't feel the GPZ offers quite enough performance for price, neither the new gpx6000. I'd probably recommend a GPX4000/4500/5000, with a coil suitable for the terrain. The SDC coil can indeed be changed, but requires a hardware modification to attach it to the shaft ... the SDC however is specifically tuned to the attached coil, and is optimised for small gold. This makes it ideal for places like VIC. The SDC will find much smaller gold than the GPZ (smallest I've found with an SDC was 0.09g about 3 inches deep - but the QLD and SA terrain will typically hold larger chunks. If you can get your hands on a 4500/5000, and get the audio modified or use a gain/compressor box and you'll definitely have a productive machine if you have the time and patience to really learn how it works and how to discern between the threshold murmurs and weak targets. Practice, knowledge, and discipline is the real key to finding the gold others left behind. Understanding how PI works and what your pulse patterns are doing really helps to understand what the ground is telling you.

@@orsmplus interesting, I was thinking about getting the sdc but now I'm thinking about a gpx. There is a second hand gpx 4000 at miners den in Adelaide. Would you recommend i get this instead of the sdc? Also what are the differences between the gpx 4000 and gpx 5000? Thanks for your replies it's not often I find someone that knows about about this subject
