You need to be hard wired to echo to use multi room. If you are hardwiring there there’s not much use for Bluetooth really, is there? A bit like this video - no idea what this has to do with wireless connectivity.

So to clarify the echo connects to your phone to play it's music by bluetooth? But your phone can still connect to the speaker via bluetooth?

Hi Ben, You can use your phone still but will need to disconnect the Echo device from the bluetooth in order to connect the phone as only one device can connect at one time (you don't need to un-pair it, just disconnect). Alternatively if you wire the Echo into the RCA port then you can connect and play your phone via bluetooth without having to disconnect the Echo. The bluetooth takes priority so if you connect a phone/tablet then it will override the echo and you can play music that way and then just disconnect your phone to go back to the Echo.

Hi Ben, as far as I'm aware if you are connected the Dot to the Lithe Audio via bluetooth then you can play all streaming services supported by Echo but not music directly from your phone. If this is a common thing that you want to do I would suggest that you connect the Echo Dot via cable and then you have the bluetooth free to pair your phone and play any content on your phone. Best of both worlds, but you'll need a cable with the speaker (available on our site).

The title is misleading. The speaker itself has absolutely no Amazon Alexa logic implemented - you're just outputting audio to the speaker, you're not controlling it using Alexa.

Hi Aaron, Your phone doesn't need to be unlocked. In fact the Echo works without your phone, you can simply say "Alexa, play The Weekend on Spotify" and it will do so, even if your phone is elsewhere.
