Es handelt sich um eine Computerstimme für den C64.
Leider ist mein XA1541 nicht einsatzfähig, sodass ich "ihn" über einen Emulator sprechen lasse.
Achtung: Ich habe dieses Video nicht geschnitten, also sind die virtuellen Ladezeiten noch mit drin. Hier die Skip-Buttons:

Back in Czechoslovakia, I had C64 twice in the 1980s, my dad smuggled the computer for me in his car's engine from Bavaria where his brother had emigrated. I had Sam as well and although I spoke no English at all, I memorized the US anthem a syllable after a syllable. ;-)

This was pretty awesome. Remember trying as far as I could make it do swedish (svenska) pronunciation of the words. SAM had a lot of things you could do to tweak it actually.

Wizard of Wor is compatible with a cartridge that provides voice generation. This cartridge can synthesize speech, but S.A.M can do it without additional hardware. But yeah, there are multiple ways.

This is true, but as you can see from this video and also videos of Impossible Mission (which also used software voice generation), it takes the full processing power of the CPU to coordinate the speech, so the rest of the system/game has to completely pause while the voice is playing. If you notice when watching videos of Wizard of Wor using the Magic Voice cartridge, the voice can play over the game without interrupting the action, so there is something to be gained from extra hardware handling the voice output without taking the main CPU away from other activities.

hi, i downloaded the sam.d64 load the say it PRG then ready appears flashing I type RUN and hit return! after I appear you want Sam or Reciter I press S and it gives me error ? I can't believe it took 90 seconds to get the demo started! Wow! I knew the C64 was slow, but the same software can be run on an older Atari 8bit(800) in 1/2 the time! So that is why the C64 community raves about the Sid chip. There is little else it has that was better...sad...

Gedacht ist SAM für Basic-Anwendungen. Einige Games haben es aber auch benutzt (Tales of the Arabian Nights, glaube ich...). Für mein DM Video hab ich SAM aber per Data-Zeilen "singen" lassen - inkl. mühsamen Herausfummeln der Lautschrift ;)
