Hua Chenyu is the most innovative artist I've ever seen. His style is so unique against the mainstream music industry. He is the pioneer of new music. Great composer with amazing singing skills. His voice can switch to so many tones to fit the music just like water. I love his music so much. Besides that he is the king of the stage. His body language and facial expression lead you into his music world. The interaction with audiences is fantastic. He is the best performer in my heart. Thank you for your nice reaction. I completely agree with you that he is the most creative artist that I have ever seen. His ability to rearrange a song overnight and make it completely his own (in many competitions) is fantastic. The only female artist that I ahve seen who comes close to his level of creativity is KZ Tandigan from the Philippines.

He is a master storyteller with music. Even if you don't understand the lyrics, you can understand what he's trying to say through his music. His music is always rich and varied and never bores you. I recommend you to check out his new song "Seven Personality". This is a very powerful art-rock song. His timbre in this song is very changeable. Full of explosive power. He sings about the seven personalities with his voice and different tones. Absolutely amazing! ❤️

I was very impressed by Hua and by this song...i'm a fan now! Im glad u saw this video! Now u saw he s a good musician,arranger, composer, singer in all styles....see u soon on Dad i'm home or Fake Monk...about Fake Monk: [Fake Monk] is composed by Cui Jian in his album [ Rock and Roll on the Road of New Long March] in 1989 [1]. It is one of Chinese Rock classics that had been covered by many singers. In Buddhism, ascetics monks are usually wanderers withdrawn from the world for their practices in search of enlightenment. They have strong faith but are generally loners who are not understood by the society. The title of the song [Fake (Ascetic) Monk] suggests a loner who has not find his/her path. The original singer, Cui Jian, is quite determined in spelling out his “don’t care” attitude towards phony emotions and relationships. In the original arrangement, a Chinese traditional instrument, Zither, was used in an unique way to further enhance a sense of mocking and carefreeness. Hua Chen Yu talked about his original intent in an interview in [2]. He said that it is a rather personal expression of his childhood struggles with loneliness. He wanted to use this kind of “Negative Expression” to call for attentions to lonely children who may refuse care and love from the outside, but are eager for them inside. Hua’s performance is completely different from that of Cui. He opened the song with a wary and flat tone to express the anguish of the role. The eerie laughter after the verse:” If you had fall in love me, then please kiss my lips,” is like a mock towards himself. One can not help wondering, is there really such a person or is it just the lonely boy’s imagination? In the second segment of the song, the lyrics are sung with a crying voice. The long flat tone at the end drags out like a shrek. The vibrato at the end of the flat tone is like the echo at the end of the world. Hua used his voice to paint a cold, dark, and empty world. The ensuing Accelerando and Crescendo in piano playing brought the song into a conclusion of screaming as that of a falling and struggling soul. Everything is collapsed and shredded at that point, and the world came to a stop. Just when the audience were gradually making sense of what had just happened, Hua gathered himself and brought the song back to a scene similar to the opening of the song. In this unbreakable cycles of despair and anger, one can still sense a stubbornness of the role in his determination and eagerness for life. Hua’s performance is creatively rich in depicting the emotional development of the role. It tears open a dark and painful world of his past that deeply shocks the audience, which can hopefully be translated into more love and care to children.

Thank you. One of Hua Chenyu's masterpieces and one of my favourites. Hua (or to make it easier, you can call him Hua- hua as in Flower-Flower (literally) as his fans (known as ETs) call him. It's a play on his surname HUA) performed this during a competition- Singer 2018 which Jessie J came in first and Hua second. Incidentally Hua is first in this year's competition. 👍 You should watch the original Nunchucks by Jay Chou released in 2001. See the difference. Some of the media/industry people invited to comment on the show were saying it'd be really hard to do anything to the song because the original is already an icon. Jay Chou is Taiwanese and he's very famous and talented as well. Hua kept the original but added elements to make it his own. That little bit of Chinese culture is Beijing (or Peking) Opera, I believe.

Mostly he is singing his own compositions that are fabolous in all ways. This guy is multi talented & a perfectionist in all his performances & captures the everyone's hearts with his songs & style of singing. Hua is Wha Chenyu, if you want to see a few genres of music in one song, watch his songs. This song was a rearrangement of Nunchucks by Jay Chou which is also in YT & more of the Rap style we are used to. The middle part was Chinese Opera where men dress in Ancient Costumes and wear face makeup and sing in a higher register than Hua did, their mouth does not move, and there are specific hand movements and they sing but they do not move their mouth. The middle part was Baroque Fuge and Hua always gets the audience involved. (Known as from Mars since Super Boy in 2013, which he won and he has worked on improving his voice and always learning new aspects of music) the kick over his head, he almost fell over. Nunchucks have the chain in the middle of thick plastic narrow cylinders. His right now is THE HOTTEST COMMODITY IN MUSIC that China has. He does Mars Concerts 2or 3 and in a row. He did 2 at THR BIRDS NEST STADIUM which holds 90,000 people. He plays the Piano and the Martians, the fans all sing along. Between songs he has “chats” with then and calls them “Family” and the Chinese culture is very deep and rich, so Hua ( or as he is called Flower Flower, the meaning of Hua Hua) he writes a lot of his music but has Lyricists since he said he has trouble with Lyrics. It is translating Mandarin to English that gets tricky and it is a beautiful way they speak. This song was another rearrangement for this 2018 THE SINGER and he does quite a few excellent songs from this year. He did not win and the controversy is they made him lose to Jesse J , who has a great voice here but pales in comparison to Hua’s stage presence. It would be nice if you could do maybe 2 of his songs at a time? In 2019 vectored his Mars Concerts in November, he wrote 5 songs and did 2 MV’s. He talked about Depression since in China you cannot be depressed. He was 29 and he talked about it for quite a while in the concert. In each concert he wears different outfits each night with a few costume changes at times. He also does and works with the stage creation and the lighting. I could write a book. Simply, go to Hua English Fan Subs and they will help you with his songs. Try to find Dahlia Kuo. Try to watch The Singer 2019, All the songs in The Singer 2020.....spoiler alert, Hua Chenyu won! His new album NEW WORLD was released, it did so well it was pictured in the NYC jumbotron in Times Square as it did so well on the NASDAQ. I love Dimash for the classical perfection in his voice and in Your Love & Across Endless Dimensions, his voice is so rich and they are both very similar. Hua revealed (as I thought) he was trained in Bel Canto, he can sing in Coloratura and in some songs he has a recording of his voice and he harmonizes with himself. He can hold a note for almost 30 seconds. He also pleats The Flute. He plays it in his 2017 Concert, playing Castles in the Sky & then goes into Quasimodo’s Gift which he was inspired to write after seeing Notre Dame and reading the Victor Hugo novel. High School & College were music Academies. So, he has been performing in live Music Festivals & Concerts since 2014. He said that since it was 7 years that he debut in 2013 he was going to have a change in his music which is the way true Artist progress. Thank you for your reaction to his music and maybe do The Singer 2020. He did his own compositions except for US, in an order he chose to arrive at New World and the Finale was a totally Rap Song with Chris Li & they he did Seven Personalities. He won, finally! Now he endorses many different Brands, (the COVID-19 resurfaced again) So there is no word ok his Mars Concerts. He pays for the buses to bring people to the stadium & he contributes to the Hospitals but does non announce it. He wrote YOU HAVE TO BELIEVE to help uplift everyone’s spirts. Thank you again.

He is one of the most human as well as one of the most innovative new artists, singer-songwriter-composers. Please react to more. I think you will find his world view very compatible with your own. You can access a lot of videos with English subtitles on KZbin. The subs are helpful because the lyrics are often not what you would expect. He writes about things like depression (I really want to love this world), environmental issues (Sacred tree), relationships with his fans (Conversations with Martian children), the impact of Covid (You have to believe), to name just a few. These are all more recent songs. He is incredibly popular in China, with tickets for his concerts selling out in seconds, appearing on variety shows like Ace vs Ace and the Singer show, where Dimash became famous in China. Most people call him Hua Chenyu . In Chinese the family name comes first.( It's like in the Police song - Every breath you take I'll be Hua Chenyu.) If you watch "Fake Monk" next, it's good to watch the version on the Hua Chenyu Eng. subs channel, which has a pre-performance interview which explains his childhood and how that relates to how he sings the song. "Nunchucks" was someone else's rap song which he creatively re-arranged.

you can call him (Hua Hua) it means little flower in Mandarin and you are in for such a treat his career started in 2013 when he won a singing contest called Superboy he has the ability to sell out stadiums in less that 15 minutes 2 nights in a row at 95,000 people per show in my opinion he is one of the best if not the best singers in the world right now cept maybe Dimash but hes in a class by himself anyways ..liked your reaction I subbed

Here is what l get from this music. He already sing the story line from the beginning which saying this martial art nunchucks come with the toughness mixing with the softness. That is how he compose the song layout starting with the piano with classical and switch into rock and again switch into Chinese Peking opera with is soft and than back to rock but his main character is to bring his story through his music. genius

Everyone knows him as Hua Hua, even on a game show where he was one of the 4 main hosts when the right answer was Hua Chenyu (which means it’s 3 words in Chinese) and it was count as correctly when someone guessed Hua Hua (which is only 2 words in Chinese). Even when awards are announced people say Hua Hua, Hua Chenyu so somehow his ‘nickname’ and real name. So calling him Hua Hua is also easier (I hope).

You did great in repeating his name to get it as right as you could. Your pronunciation is good,just try saying his name in this order Hua Chen Yu 👍👍Wasn't wise of some fans to try westernise his name by placing his surname last when traditionally Chinese surnames come first. Remember, the H in Hua is quite aspirated 😁😁 say "hoo-ah" quickly and you're on your way haha.
