So Hyang was again recovering from one of her numerous bouts with pneumonia, during her time on Begin Again Korea - mini concert series. She indicated she was operating at less than 50% vocal capabilities.

Valerie, thanks so much for doing another Sohyang video. I'm 85 and, unless my memory is failing, Sohyang added none of her usual embellishments, but executed Ella Fitzgerald's rendition of "Misty" faithfully. I know almost all of Sohyang's music and she often shows respect for original artists. For example, she performs "I Will Always Love You" closely following Dolly Parton's original rendition (except that, having no band, she actually sings the Saxophone solo 🙂). Thanks again. Cheers.

Sohyang has the range, musicality and talent to literary sing any genre. She is a once in a generation vocalist. Good to see you back reacting to her, its been a long time.

Sohyang is always performing, she has no shortage of engagements. This was on Begin Again Korea 2020 and she was on 6 out of the 9 shows. Then she was on some more BAK in 2021. Hard to remember what year she did what, but she sang the official song for the summit on the environment, put out at least 2-3 new songs, did the sound track for the Lost Ark RPG game, did numerous duets, sang at open concerts, sang at church events, sang more OST's for K dramas. She sang Arirang Alone on King Singer, appeared on Immortal Songs 2 again and lately has been writing new Christian songs and singing them with Petra.

Me: My favorite vocalist of all time, Sohyang, "killed" one of my favorite songs of all time! I can die happily now. Also me: On second thought, hold my horses. First, she needs to "massacre" all the great 80s rock songs, a la her rendition for "Monalisa" on KOMS. Only then I can die without regret. Sohyang (some time in the future): Hold my non-alcoholic beer.

Great analysis of this beautiful lady. Kim So Hyang is my favorite singer and I believe one of the best on the planet. Check out her duet from this 2020 Begin Again Korea series with Lee Suhyun of the song 'Flashlight'. Their harmonies are out of this world. And her masterpiece 'Everyone' is a clinic in great singing. But be sure to find a version with English subtitles for the best experience. Cheers!

Based on the fact that it was her premiere and her lung and health condition were very bad back then, a performance 10 months ago at a small place right in front of quite a few fans oh hers is worth listening to. That was similar to the stuff here but closer to the perfection I imagine.

Jazz pianist Erroll Louis Garner composed his standard "Misty" as an instrumental in 1954, and released a recording that year. Lyricist John Francis Burke added lyrics in 1955. Jazz vocalist Dakota Staton was the first to record the song in 1957. Many other singers have recorded the song since then: Sarah Lois Vaughan, 1958; John Royce "Johnny" Mathis, 1959; Ella Jane Fitzgerald, 1960; ... Sohyang sings "Misty" in the style of Fitzgerald.

Hello Valerie, I have a question that I would like to ask you about another Korean vocalist? Her name is Park Ki Young! I think she is amazingly talented with an incredible voice, but I have read in comments where some do not like her because they say her technique is not correct. Then there are other’s like myself that think she is right at the top with SoHyang. BTW, she and SoHyang are very good friends if that tells you anything about her talent level. There are many songs of hers that you should listen to but first listen to her rendition on “Nella Fantasia” then next listen to her singing jazz. Tell me what you think! kzbin.info/www/bejne/hIWugKyLjLeCbdE kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5rMYpmha8ycd68

It's such a pity that the mainstream has so many skeletons plaguing the industry due to being drink and drug infested so called artists, not to mention that there are too many self obsessed attention seeking Divas, this is one of the reasons that SOHYANG and MORISSETTE AMON LAMAR have given it a wide berth, they have both had big opportunities to expand their music careers but due to the toxic antics of many mainstream artists it's a no from them, now these are the only two genuine ARTISTS in the industry that many people will never get to know about, maybe if the industry decides to get rid of the dregs of society things might change 🇬🇧👌🔥❤️.
