Oh I’m early! Yes, lots of different things to say about Demi’s life, story, image, substance issues etc, but the one thing that is consistent and undebatable is the raw vocal talent. Edit: it’s also quite impressive that if you listen to the albums they cover just about every musical style from pop, rock, metal, hip-hop, and more soul/jazz type pieces, and Demi’s voice is just a 10/10 in all of them. I agree, I think it points to someone who has both great natural talent but also just really knows how to sing.

I don't know how he doesn't have a million subs yet. It's insane. Also, I have a sister who sang in a classical choir for 6 years and she's a contralto, which both made it great and terrible for her when she was first taking singing lessons. She already had a natural gift for singing, and her singing is whatever she wants it to be now, but it made her more aware of how different her voice was compared to the other women in the group, who were all very nice and supportive of her, while she was only 18 when she got into that choir. She had a transition year where after she was done singing with the choir she went and recorded a few different covers, all in her own contralto style, but she realized that she just had too much stage fright to go solo and be a lead singer in front of a huge, or even small, audience.

loving your videos...you are really indepth (alot more than most of other voice teacher channels here on the tube) and show/explain the theory behind the crazy singing, which I really enjoy and try to learn from (although some stuff is nigh impossible').....are people born with a certain vocal range or is everything learnable?? Would love your reaction to Tim Storms singing "Lonesome Road", it's in the totally opposite direction of what most people aspire to do vocaly, since it goes deep deep deep down instead of up in the C6+ range :)

Sam I’d love if you could react to something operatic… your thoughts of Elina Nechayevas performance of La Forza at Eurovision 2018 would be great. I remember being gobsmacked at the upper extension of her voice (I think she hits a C6) and think you could break down what is happening really amazingly! Obviously not quite in a traditional opera setting but I still think it was great and she has lots of fans in Europe

Yes I also think a vocal technique channel is the best place to debate gender and language. The singular they goes back at least to the 14th century. Back when thou was the commonly used singular "you" and "you" was plural. Language evolves naturally, there often isn't a solo decider. The resistance to using language that many people have said makes them feel more comfortable in the world is also known as being a dick.

@I AM Jesus! nonbinary people pick their own pronouns. if they don't want to go by they/them, they don't, but demi does. personally i'm nb but for some reason i don't feel comfortable using they for myself at this point so i just... don't. no one riots :) edit: also cis people use "they" all the time to refer to someone they don't know the gender of, without even realizing it. "who was that at the door? what did they want?" no one says, "what did he or she want?"

@I AM Jesus! I'm going to take this in good faith and try to explain it. What pronouns one feels comfortable with are completely up to the individual. We have been using singular they since Shakespearean time, and many people feel more comfortable using a word they know rather than one they don't, so it tends to be the default for that. However, I've known plenty of Non-binary people who use different or newer (neo) pronouns such as Ze/zir, xe/xir and others, I've seen people use one/oneself, and more. Use whatever pronouns feel comfortable for you, and of someone tells you their pronouns, respect it and do the best you can to remember. That's all we ask for
