Great reaction! I’m actually not a fan of these “best high note compilation” type videos because it adds to the kpop fanbase’s problem of thinking high notes = strong vocals. I get really frustrated whenever I see people criticizing a group’s high notes like it’s the only thing that matters about their vocals. Just some advice, don’t take all the offended fans’ comments too seriously. Imo the kpop community (both fans and the industry) has an extremely warped view of vocal technique and what makes a singer “good”, which can be extremely harmful for the idols we claim to care so much about. So keep up the informative content, and thanks for doing this community a great service, even if some might not see it that way.

I think it's not a case of _offended fans_ per se, bcoz Sam isn't aware yet of Kyu's Voice projection skills (He even did many musicals, singing without any Microphone) so naturally his power is a lot different than other male kpop singers, so he may have gotten doubt about the microphones! But many felt that the comment that 'Then I may not know about microphones' is where many seem to have gotten irked up by such unnecessary comment when Sam was actually not in confidence on the singer's ability! Overall, a fair misunderstanding from both parties, but I don't see people fighting over anything, just explaining how it's not what it seemed :)

If you have taken offense to any comments made by Sam, you are literally just being bias towards your idol. He watched one video compilation in which he listens and critics to each idols in his honest unfiltered opinion on what he has listened too. If you are mad, then simply ask the person who made the compilation video to fix the video choices of the idols. Sam doesn't have any malicious intents, he is honestly the best vocal teacher I have ever seen on KZbin. I don't mind him criticizing my favorite idols because I know he is not devaluing them as an artist but hoping they improve their craft. He only questioned the Kyuhyun clip because of the distance between the mic and Kyuhyun vocal singing (whatever vocal sound he was making) for it to be too big for him to have his mic so far away and it sounds that way. He(Sam) hasn't watched the whole performances or seen many Kyuhyun's lives as of yet, so it is an uncertainty, hence, why he only questioned it. Lets stop with nonsensical comments about your faves if you are only seeking them to be praised endlessly and for them never to make a mistake on stages. [EDIT] I didn't think I needed to even state this but I am an ELF too, Kyuhyun is my bias. I know that man is talented ASF. And when Sam decides to watch more videos of Kyuhyun, he will see that and form his own opinion. Again, this is just ONE performance that was in fact edited by KBS as all things on their channel are. ALSO, please do not attack each other in the comments. It is straight up depressing. Even if someone's opinion or statement is rude or what not, giving them attention magnifies a unnecessary hateful cycle.

I'll just say one teeny tiny thing here. Him saying "or i just dunno how microphones work" highkey offended me. I was understanding his point completely but that made me really question his point. I'm glad he is honest but if he doesn't really know (like he claimed) what was going on, he shouldn't have said the microphone line. It's okay to not know shit about stuff when the entire culture and kind of content is so different but you can atleast stop yourself from making such comments. I appreciate how he points very minute things out as well, but he wasn't very smart while making that comment.
@dillonp6896 жыл бұрын
@Jessica Singh ok but he literally said he didn't know enough about the clip so he wasn't going to comment on it. he didn't say he did anything bad, he literally said he couldn't make any kind of comment on it. sooo i don't really know why that would offend you but go off i guess.
@ActingHerReaction6 жыл бұрын
@@jessicasingh4021 he is supposed to share his thoughts. His thoughts. I hope you can understand that means he should be saying what he observes. I feel he put it in such a great way He never made accusations. He just pointed out it was odd. He was careful not to jump ahead. I don't know much more delicate he could've been. I feel it is wonderful how much people love their favourite artists but we must also allow people to have their own observations and opinions. It does your artist no favours to defend them so that no one can be even the slightest bit critical. this wasn't personal. It was wholly in a professional capacity where one professional commented on the technique of another. I am not the type of person to think oh check your emotions. Cos they are valid. But maybe take some of your own advice and think about the purpose and consequences of airing them in such a way that may not achieve what you intend. We don't want to discourage someone like Sam from dedicating his time to this awesome project of critiquing vocal techniques of our fav artists. And Khyu is s a big boy capable of taking these fairly harmless comments not to heart. (Besides what are the chances of him actually seeing them) there are bigger battles to fight. Spread love cc
@ProverbiosOcho6 жыл бұрын
I support this. Actually I took the comment for the best part, it's not the first time I hear someone think KyuHyun (sometimes RyeoWook) do lip sync or similar stuff. We know Immortal Song never allows that, so it's actually pretty nice to hear that. And also, I think Sam comments his thoughts about the performance, not the artist. And I super agree that the intention is the best♡

Kyuhyun has made that too often in so many concerts before he has an incredible powerful voice you can check that he has a habit of moving away from the mic when he's making those kinds of notes, I don't know why he's a very intelligent vocalist (he's literally very intelligent not only to sing) but there must be a purpose for him to do that. An Tran’s Videos i believe that when you overuse your voice the vocal folds swell and form these kind of spots that get larger and stiffer with vocal abuse , in this case wendy’s vocal coach said that she got them right before debut and learned how to sing despite the nodules and being in pain (you can google vocal nodules to learn more )
@deanneb69256 жыл бұрын
An Tran’s Videos It comes from improper use of the vocal chords. The chords slap together in unhealthy ways, causing open wounds that eventually scab over, causing pain when you sing. You can receive surgery for this issue and can recover with the use of therapy, or you can simply undergo therapy and make adjustments to your singing technique until they heal on their own. Wendy seems to have gone with the second option, and made a full recovery ❤️

I also felt it was weird. But there is a good chance he has another side mic. Sometimes the hand mic isn't the only mic. I remember the glass looking fake mics shinee had for dream girl promotions because the real mic was the head set ones for dancing. Then there is the mics they use in musicals (peeking outta the hair on the forehead. Lol). Basically looks weird. But since I saw kyuhun perform loads and it's immortal song (zero percent lipsynching allowed on that show) i'ma accept that as an explanation.
@ProverbiosOcho6 жыл бұрын
Yup, you are never allowed to do lipsync in Immortal Song. For what I've seen in SS5 (when Super Junior came to Peru) that guy really has something in his throat xddd In some moment, he didn't have mic and somehow managed to make himself to be listened were I was when he was talking (greeting the crowd). I guess that's something people who act in musicals have, hm. However, I don't think people should take Sam's opinions as an offense. Ay the same time, I also agree with you. I think Sam could familiarize with KyuHyun's performances in the future. That would be awesome^^

Okay, here's the thing: I don't care about singing. I can't sing and I never tried to get better at it, it's just not my thing. I like KPop though. Just... like, I like music. Normal, Right? Some people may try to learn about singing and they find some nice singers/artists on the way. I watch this because I like the singers/artists... but I learn a bit about singing on the way. I really hope that you see this as a good thing. Because I said I don't care about singing. But I think, a good teacher can MAKE you care about anything really. So, if I watch this video and I just want to learn a few things, take away a few things and get entertained all the while... It's really nice. I find it interesting that artists signed under SM entertainment get the thumbs up from you. (Obvs he likes non sm artists too but sm artists are get similar review about technique. Perhaps they have similar group of vocal trainers and approaches. I know we often see ppl in the comments section talking about how jonghyun shared his technique with Exo and red velvet. And how shinee learnt from TVXQ) Anyway as always awesome video ❤👍🏿

@@wilsonchow9731 because mamamoo are objectively fucking boss and amazing that's why. Legit. Show me anyone not impressed by their awesomeness. 🦄❤🦄❤ (Just noticed a pattern in sm artists getting similar review and made me wonder about how they get trained. Who trains them. As a company they honestly do have a range of fantastic vocalists. Is that just cos they're big but then some other companies are big. Is it cos who they focus on recruiting. But then I think about the non-main vocalists in the boyband and girlbands and I notice how much they're pushed. Tbh same with dancing. Non natural dancers end up hard to distinguish from the actual dancer. Dunno they push ppl hard. For good and unfortunately bad.)

@@felixthecow it's interesting. I mean look at Lee Taemin and how far he's come as a vocalist. Its kinda baffling. From literally so few lines in terms of how so happy got distributed. Then a whole period on immortal song week in week out and bam! He gets enough experience and training to move up in terms of line distribution and gets a few solo albums. It's quite impressive.

That video of Kyuhyun of Super Junior was taken of a show called "Immortal Song", where he participated and sang several songs, usually covers of other singer's songs with different arrangements. That one is called "Masquerade" and I think it's one of the best songs he sang on that show. I strongly advise you to listen to the whole song and also search for others that he sang because he really is a great singer with a good technique. I think you would be very surprised, especially because he sounds THAT good without any help of back vocals or auto-tune or lipsync; the thing with the mic was because he was singing a very high and loud song so, naturally, he did that. He must also have a really good projection for him to be able to do that and us still being able to listen to that sound. I guarantee you, that wasn't fake.

Her dream was to became a vocal teacher, actually. Her mom was/is one and she's been trained by her mom since she was a kid (but she's probably trained by other teacher now). She has never cracked or off-pitch in any of her live performances. She's probably the most stable singer in kpop. Hope you can check Apink's b-tracks and her solo stuff more.

Would love to see your reactions on her performances on King of Masked Singer from before her hiatus, she actually won the show. My guess is that Kyuhyun's note was live, I think he was on Immortal Songs for that and as far as I know you have to sing live on that show. He sings in musical theater a lot, and does have good projection, but I see what you mean about it being difficult for the mic to pick up so much sound from that far away. Edit: This wasn't a dig at your knowledge or me standing up for Kyuhyun. Sometimes people don't sing live because they can't, aren't allowed, or choose not to in order to give a better performance. I was just trying to be a part of the conversation, and I don't want this to be taken the wrong way. I've seen a lot of defensive comments, and I don't want to be lumped in with those.
