At best he's the closest thing to a Renaissance man you'll ever see. If you believe what someone else tells you about him wholeheartedly without even taking a look at any of the thousands of hours he has recorded you're literally his target demographic. The whole point of his show is to have long form discussions with plenty of context with interesting people, good or ill, and mitigate the destructive nature of click bait news with 5 min spotlights that leads to many people and subjects being taken out of context or misrepresented. She stated that before she wasnt properly taught the importance of maintaining the voice because she was making so much money for other people but after her vocal surgery and returning to vocal lessons she decided to give up smoking and drinking and is taking more precautions. That’s the thing about vocal coaches: a lot of the advice can be sound and conducive to the protection of talent longevity. However, style and interpretation can be artistic choices that should not be messed with when the skill set has been honed and proven over many years. We would never have unique, differentiated singers if they always did whatever any given vocal coach advised. There’s technique mentoring and then there’s arbitrary judgment of musical artistry.

@carag25674 жыл бұрын
During the first verse she was a bit out of breath and you could hear it was affecting her phrasing. Try to imagine how it feels and sounds when you try to speak after running. It's like that. She had probably winded herself after the last song and then gone immediately into this one. Sam is right that you need to breathe when you need to breathe when singing because it's literally impossible to produce sound without airflow behind it. But proper singing includes the ability to control your airflow, it's one of only three things you actually have control over when singing. This is a common reason why artists who have complicated dance routines will use a pre-recorded track for those songs. So that this doesn't happen. It requires incredible stamina to be able to do both simultaneously. But she caught up with herself by the first chorus 😊
@carag25674 жыл бұрын

I was curious about this myself because I noticed her voice has a lot more "girth" if you will with the raspy darkness of her tone quality. I thought It was just maturation but it turns out it was a lot more than that. She did a very interesting interview on Joe Rogan's podcast where she explains this more. Highly recommend. Good conversation. I noticed she's been standing and leaning over more during performances which I guess a lot of rock singers do. My teacher mentioned this is an "anchoring" technique which I wouldn't mind hearing your description and feedback on (how, when and why singers might do this).

@M Mac Hello, Happy Holidays... please don't misunderstand me 😃, Im not particularly a fan of hers... but I like the effort in reviving Rock ( even soft variants of it ) to reintroduce to modern audiences. Maybe it was her decision, maybe a producers decision, dont know, but the musical landscape these days is very narrow and something that is not just urban/reggaeton or electronic music is welcome in my world 😊
