I definitely think the drama with the legacy hammer, labeling Devon as a cheater, and the teasing from Engin and John about him not being able to make 105 let alone win the title pushed Devon to fully embrace being the villain.
@rileyneufeld700116 күн бұрын
Devon embraced being the villain since Dave chaffee in WAL. And even before then against Matt mask he's always been the one to add fuel to the fire. It just so happens that most people will either fight back and be left drained. Or be too scared to, in fear of being drained (petrenko) and be pulled out of their style of armwrestling (ermes hooking Devon).

Just because they show him in a different light outside tournaments, doesn't really make any difference. And it certainly is giving kids a bad example. If this sport turns into bullying, cheesing, 5 hour set-up matches, - it will be kill the sport in the end.

Devon is in "full villian arc" is spot on. The man thrives on chaos. He's great because he's willing to be the villian. Bottom line is that matches are "fights" to Devon. Larratt is lacking manners and sportsmanship. During the match with Prudnik, he said : - *"Did you fart, Prudnik ? "* Also drinking without permission from Prudnik's bottle of water. He's behaviour is unforgivable! No wonder he is banned from Instagram and other platforms. Sanctioned by the Canadian AW Federation and so forth. We don't need his rude attitude towards other athletes. It is not normal. Where was he with his line of work, in the military, or the circus ? This situation has gone too far. Younger Devon was so respectful !

U can tell everyone including Ray here are being very careful with their words to not get on the bad side of Devon. Devon is in his own way become a tyrant like Engin, he can keep pushing the boundaries of how much of a c4nt he can expose himself as and eveyrone around him sucks it up because it's Devon.

Humiliation behavior tells a lot about personality. Devon showed his face and his nature. Too bad. He should learn more from champions like Brzenk, Cyplenkov, Pushcar, Laletin. They always stay humble and respectful. Yeah, Larratt is a big mouth when he is on top, but look at him when he loses....he is quiet and speechless then.

I think it's a self sustaining cycle with devon's stage rage. He triggers keyboard warrior haters online, they drum up a lot of bs to try discredit him, then he unleashes even more fury in the match that follows. He said himself in one of his vlog vidoes that this one was gonna get particularly messy and we all know the various reasons why.

Totally agree. The number of PPV buys will be the real gauge for Devon’s future events, showing if the audience craves those WWE-style effects or not, haha. Devon was doing extra to be a showman and grow the sport. And you know that Ray. So don't say " oh he didnt need to do any of that" these armwrestlers would be making half the money without Devon doing it. Also Ray, Devon shoving Engin? Engin wouldn't stop grabbing Devon the whole time vs Morozov.

Thanks for this Ray, I do watch your videos and learn much from you. You are a very important part of arm wrestling, as a competitor, coach, and ambassador. Keep up the excellent work. By the way, I have been in your home country a number of times and I really enjoyed visiting. This unfortunately, cannot be said about Devon, who acted disgracefully (like someone who totally lost it), and it brings bad shadows on to the sport. Whereas he has done much for the sport (no doubt about it), yet, there are so many that is fed up with his (and often his wife's) childish behavior. Gone way to far already, so much that when he apologizes, even that is not taken well or seriously by many. Just look at the fragmentation he has been causing (take a look at the athletes' and fans' faces and responses toward him). Naturally, there is competitiveness nature that brings certain behaviors out of the competitors, but not as such as Devon has been exhibiting. I know you are close to him and he likes you, as it seems, therefore, please have a discussion with him and express how we as fans feel about him as a person (when he acts such negative way). There is no need for this. By acting so, he will never accomplish the goat status, no matter what he does and how well. His negative behavior over shadows his accomplishment. Interestingly, when he gets humbles, he comes to his senses somewhat (although acts like a pussy/sissy, which is a huge contrast suddenly). Anyhow, great show and matches, great people, great sport, continue doing the fantastic work, God bless all!
@mattnotjm16 күн бұрын
I love your insight about how Devon acted and aside from winning the title I really believe he should've won an Oscar for his acting performance. I have the same opinion that he's really just embracing his whole arm wrestling character whenever he competes. He never really makes it personal and it's only ever been about armwrestling.

many fans of the sport would not be fans if it were not for Devon, Devon puts a show on and it intrigues people, there may be a lot of great pullers in the sport, but there is noone who carries the entertaining part like Devons and his matches. Levan? a beast for sure, top guy, but boring as hell John? The GOAT! but also boring entertainment value. Devon brings in something to love and hate and to stay for and thats on and off the table, he is a warrior till the fight is over right from the start, and he is like a wise sage outside of the fight, lots of people have done a lot for the sport, but the next breakthrough will be bigger crowds/fans, and Devon is the poster child for that break through especially in the west. love the videos ray, and hope you keep it up and looking forward to hearing of the plans you are working on coming up!

Ray you have a special gift of misusing the word "the", you don't use it when you should (you always say "on table" instead of "on the table") and you use it when you shouldn't ("card on the paper" instead of "the card on paper") this is not meant as an insult, it's just something I've noticed over the years.
@silkywilky791315 күн бұрын
Sentence, natural language of Ray, maybe less specific emphasis, while still correct grammatically for particular speech. Basically, you can expect him to not have perfect English while having to translate on the fly and choose correct grammar for either of his multiple languages while maybe not knowing the exact words to match what he's trying to describe.

Ray gave some good points about the whole Devon situation. Everything has two sides. And for Devon's perspective makes sense to be so pissed off about him cheating, legacy hammer etc. But, the organizers must start to take advantage of the situation. I mean, for the sake of the sport, Devon needs some opponent with more hatred personallity (nothing wrong with Petrenko, but he is too nice). For example: Genadi rematch, Kurdecha, Morozov left, Alizhan left and many others. Like it or not he is the symbol and the embassador of the sport. The more entertaining is the match, the more popular the sport will become and that's a fact.
@m1noladea15 күн бұрын
The behavior from devon is a shame. He's not someone you wanna watch.. tbh it's annoying, people should enforce the rules, so many of his wins are from cheating the opponent and taking advantage before the start during the setup

I don’t think ppl realize the amount of prodding DL received from the East, including ET, during the buildup to this match. OP was trolling Devon pretty hard as well as AM being such a two faced snake . Not to mention DC presenting a toy hammer to a man that holds the legacy hammer in very high regard. Devon said it himself, is he the only one who has respect for the sport? I think DL held his temper very well, all should have got their ass beat.
