Most of these guys end up dead or in jail and the ones who live to monster's age end up in the gutter with nothing. Time to stop glorifying criminals and start glorifying actual legends. When you gives these guys public adulation and respect it sets a precedent that THIS is someone the next generation should strive to be since they are the ones receiving the admiration from they're community.

I agree he did kill people which is wrong but he was sent to jail (most recently) because he beat a drug dealer who was trying to coerce people into drugs and gang life (which is also wrong). he was sentence for 17 years for this BECAUSE of his previous record. He changed his name because of his adoption of the Muslim religion and his attempt to leave the gang life.

1986...I’m on the bus on Crenshaw going home from chillin with my girl. She lived by Florence. I’m a b-boy / graffiti writer. There’s this other kid my age(16) on the bus...he catches a tag. Suddenly this dude ...monster...gets up from a seat and says to the kid “don’t be tagging in my hood! Get the fuck off the bus!”. Then he looks at me and says to the kid “see this dude is respectful...he’s down”. I was like thank god I hadn’t tagged. He made the kid get off on 60th st. At night. Was probably fine but that hood does get sketchy after dark. As an example...same kinda evening...I’m walking down Florence approaching Crenshaw. A cop is gonna turn right on to Crenshaw. A minivan pulls up on the left side of the cops. The side door opens and somebody starts firing into the cop car. I didn’t go see what happened. Just bailed onto a side street and kept walking to a different bus stop. I was lucky...or oblivious/dumb but somehow I never got fucked with.

@@millardfilmore1403 I’m not the type to lie or make up stories....but ...I suppose.. possibly it was a dude with the same nickname and look. It was a different kid on the bus that ...about 5 minutes after ..said to me “ dude..that guys name is monster ..he’s from my neighborhood”. Idk. I’ve had a million different bizarre things happen in my life.

Crenshaw and Florence is the middle of Rollin 60s neighborhood which are enemies to ETG. I grew up in the area. Highly unlikely Monster would be riding that bus especially in 86.
@americanamusica134 жыл бұрын
@@davidthomas8113 ..dude...obviously it’s rollin 60s hood. That’s literally a few blocks from there. People in LA don’t just stay in their hood. As a graffiti writer I myself have been through every gang hood in Los Angeles. From V13 ..Venice sho-line...Culver City stoners...Sawtelle to dead end harpies...rock wood street locos ..18th st...MS...all the way to valley gangs like Blythe st. Etc etc. I myself am from the graffiti crew known as Thee KSN crew ..King Size Nuts..LA. We are down with fellow crews like WCA...CBS...UTI...AWR...MSK. I went to Taft high in the valley. Until they kicked me out. Class of 88. Same as Ice cube. Cube is not a friend of mine but he’d remember me. He’d say “oh yeah...that white hip hop kid”. I’m better friends with Yomo who also made a record with Dre at that time (88-ish). I’ve been to dre’s studio. I hung with cypress hill when they were called 7A3. I’ve hung at ice T’s house and I’m clapping in the back ground on his “soul on ice” record. Speaking of the RTD...I met one of my lifelong best friends on the bus in 85. His name is Divine styler. Divine still produces music with some of our other old friends. My bad...to the og monster...as I said in my reply to him. All I know is exactly what I said in my reply to him. I’m 50yrs old. I was 16 in 86. And as I said before...I’m a b-boy...graf writer...not a gangster. I’ve had a crazy life. Some of the things I’ve seen and done would trip you out. Here’s one humorous example- In 89 I lived in the “palms” district...by palms and motor. We used to have crazy parties. I lived on a street called Vinton. There was a small crip gang that sold rock on the street there. They were called the vinton avenue husltas. One day me and my crew threw a party and since I was drunk and feeling good I decided to invite one of the lil crip dudes in. So I went out and invited this one dude...Philip ..over. He came in and got his drink on etc. years and years later...in like 90something I’m sitting at someone’s house and MTV is on and the news breaks that snoop dog is being accused of murder. Then they show the picture of the victim...sure enough...it’s that lil crip dude Philip. Classic example of the weird shit in my life. Anyway...take it easy homie...peace.

The thing what was intriguing about this brother was that he thug it in real life as he tells us one of the stories here but he can also complete change his articulation to educated proper usage of the English language when he wants to fit the narrative when being interviewed by world reknown journalist.. If you haven’t seen his interview that he did way back in 1993 on 60 minutes with Morley Schafer .. it sheds a whole new light on how he became what he became, however he never got lost in Morley’s questions and if anything I think Morley and the producers of that segment came away highly impressed IMO..
