This is a follow up to the one they released last year: Hall of the Mountain King by Grieg. Rachel is their most common collaborator they’ve worked with. She’s done over a dozen features with them and has been performing with them on and off since just out of high school ( they competed against each other in high school singing competitions.). It’s a compilation of a lot of classical pieces. The details are in the description.

What an incredible arrangement and performance by VP! The Grundels are my favorite! Singing, acting, set, arrangement and costume was epic! Thanks for reacting to it!

This is part 2 of the classical music. Part 1 was In The Hall Of The Mountain King. Rachel has been a guest (family) vocalist for VoicePlay for over a decade. See her in the Little Mermaid, or Phantom of the Opera, Wicked, or maybe The Greatest Showman.

Look at the details of the video. It's a medley of classical pieces (or part of them).

The Grundels are like a bunch of little kids who are all trying to get their hands on the Very Serious Witch's magic book to play around with it, and she is absolutely done with the lot of them 😄

It's all such fun while being stellar arrangement and delivery.

The one you asked about is an excerpt from Night on Bald Mountain, one of the most *ominous* pieces of music ever written. A lot of people know it because it was featured in Fantasia. Though it unfortunately tends to be overshadowed by Ride of the Valkyries.

When Cesar "steals" Geoff's voice? It hearkens back to another piece that Rachel did with them, The Little Mermaid Medley. Rachel played Ariel, and her voice was stolen by Ursula, played by Geoff.

They just confirmed on a livestream that it was actually Layne’s voice singing when Cesar went low 😂

In Little Mermaid, also, if you watch closely, the second time you hear a low voice say, “sing it with me now,” it’s actually J.None stealing Geoff’s line. You can see Geoff react to it, but it goes by fast.

@@lkayh Yes, I noticed that the first time I saw it but a lot of reactors never noticed it was J singing bass towards the end 🤷🏻♀️

This is a mash up created by themselves. This one is a follow up to last year's In The Hall of the Mountain Kng. Yes they do like a bit of dissonance, changing minot ot major or vice versa at times. Just to change things up. The tunes may be listed in the credits. They often do that. last Year they did the whole of The Hall of the Mountain King. They don't use green screen, they create all the backgrounds, the lighting, costumes, and everything.

Yes. The dissonance was merely changing the scale from major to minor.

and they dragged a TON of branches into the studio from what I understand :) I've been too crazy busy to watch the BTS yet, but I wouldn't be surprised if poor Tony got roped into hauling in branches & leaves lol

Layne and Tony (Layne’s partner at Pattycake Productions) brought 32 trees and another 10 artificial tree trunks (hand painted) into their studio to create the forest. Besides this, they have also filmed several other Pattycake videos in their indoor forest. This is the kind of thing you can only do if you own a studio. (And have a wild imagination!)

Their first in these costumes were Hall of the mountain king. If you are liking their songs without words, I would also recommend HALO

So much fun!! Glad to see more VP reactions. Love the theatrics and how Esh can break it down as a performer himself. ❤

Grumbles are back from The Hall of the Mountain King (put on your watch list) adding Rachel to the mix. Rick Underwood has done his makeup magic. Love these. #TheatreKidsOfACapella. Always great covers never disappoint.

Since someone in the chat commented on the ‘budget’ - everyone should be told that the only way they can afford this is because they have learned how to do all of this themselves. The exception is the make-up for this. Whenever they need exceptional make-up, they use the same guy who they know from working with him at Universal’s park. The other exception is for audio mixing. They do the preliminary mix, then send it on to Ed Boyer, who specializes in mixing for acapella. Anyway - basically they can only afford to do this because they learned to do it all themselves. That and Layne bought a production studio with Tony (previous VP baritone who preferred to be behind the scenes). And someone said they don’t greenscreen? Not exactly true. This particular video is not greenscreened. They did literally build a forest inside the studio. However, Eli is a whiz with lighting but also with creating backgrounds using UnReal Engine. There are videos where they DO use greenscreens or sometimes even giant LED walls to project the backgrounds.

The chat is being chat sometimes, I respect VoicePlay for the amazing work they put in their acapella's both music and screen play wise :)

I love how the fire changes colors to match the skin tone of the character that stole her book and is casting the spell. And I wonder how many viewers noticed the slip of paper sticking out of Rachel's bosom after the love spell. 🤣

Not sure if anyone said yet but if you watch Disney's fantasia, their is a piece called night on bald mountain. It's kind of the official/unofficial theme (depends who you talk to) of the demon churnabog (not sure I spelled that correctly) who is in actuality the mountain. That's the music you compared to batman. Ps you should check out the prequel to this video in the hall of the mountain king.

The change in notes that sounds off key is them going from a major key into a minor key.
