AleXa is a K-pop artist and winner of America Song Contest 2022 (raised in Oklahoma and a US citizen). AleXa's part was filmed in South Korea where she was when the video was being created. Enemy is from League of Legends Arcane series and AleXa is in character of Jinx the lead in the Arcane series. With Voiceplay doing this video they needed someone to play as "Jinx" and AleXa will also bring Voiceplay into the South Korean marketplace so it has the possibility of greatly expanding those who listen to Voiceplay

Ok to have your opinion. The thing about Voiceplay is they don't fit into any one genre (the closest thing would be theatricality in their performances). They have a whole series of fantasy/science fiction-related stuff (i.e. Dragonborne Comes, Halo), also rock (Queen, Kansas, Aerosmith), broadway, and more. Hopefully, if you can get to a place of understanding with that, and it'll sit better with you. I haven't seen arcane, but the consensus seems to point this was a good rendition with of course the Voiceplay Twist.
@jameejams22292 жыл бұрын
Yeah I might need to check that arcane out and the rewatch. I think it was a seductiveness that was throwing me off. If the girl was presented more as a badass and not like throwing herself out there maybe I wouldn’t have found it more empowering. I love that song and the lyrics are awesome. I just feel like it fell a little flatter than the others I’ve seen.

Hi, I think when you react to a video, you have to be honest and express how you feel. If we didn't like it more than that, we have to say it and visitors have to accept that it's like that. We cannot all have the same opinion. There are songs from VOICEPLAY that I don't like and so I don't listen to the reactions. I like this piece. Layne is even better and Geoff excels. Cesar and Elie at the top. They put forward, as they often do, a new singer for this song "Enemy". I didn't know Alexa. His voice is touching. His collaboration showed a new facet of VOICEPLAY. That's how the band will come up with new ideas to make us even happier.

AleXa is a singer, dancer, actor and K-pop artist born in the US but based now in South Korea. She contacred VoicePlay to see if they'd be interested in using her in a video. Being gentlemen and also always willing to try something new, they obviously said yes. I agree with another comment that the sound of the video is just too quiet. Rachel is brilliat, for when they want her kind of voice. But so are the other artists they use in different productions. They know what they want. If nothing else, even if _a capella_ isn't AleXa's musical future, this song puts paid to all of that crap said out here in viewerland regarding American Song Contest, claiming that she was just lipsynching and couldn't sing at all (in the qualifier round) because of some unfortunate decisions made by the network sound engineers. So if AleXa's fans sound a little defensive, we have reason. Only the live audience in the venue and the jury heard her real voice, the broadcast of the qualifier round had heavy bias towards backing vocal.

@@jameejams2229 Part of the issue is, they weren't in the same room performing. She was in Korea at the time, so all the video was recorded and edited together with their individual snippets. If the three songs I recommended above are too much of a commitment, maybe just watch "Wonderland", either the semi-finals or finals performances, from American Song Contest. In the qualifiers, the backing vocal was mixed in too heavily by the broadcast network's sound engineers.

I think it might help if you watched some videos of Jinx. I love Rachel Potter but I don't think she would have fit this song. AleXa brought the craziness and edginess of Jinx into her mannerism and singing in this. At first I wasn't sure about her but I didn't know anything about the show or Jinx. But once I watched some videos of Jinx and came back to watch the video, AleXa did an amazing job. And her light and airy soprano also helped to confuse the listeners when the guys were in their falsetto range. Something that they can't do as well with Rachel.

I agree, this didn't really "do it" for me like their other songs do. Maybe it's that the chemistry isn't quite there between Voiceplay and Alexa...yet. At the same time I'm not a fan of imagine dragons so that also could play a role. IDK lol.

I'm the opposite of you, Jamee, I had no fragging idea who VoicePlay was before AleXa collab'ed with them. You gave her really short shrift, and that's unfortunate. Vocals aren't her primary focus, granted, she's foremost a dancer, but to be debuted in the Korean entertainment industry, one has to be multidimensional talent. With ~12 music videos to her credit, in that unforgiving market, she has to be doing _something_ right! You did notice that she's good enough to hold her own in an _a capella_ song even though that isn't her usual style?

Well, she just missed the mark on this one for me. I can’t fake a reaction to please her fans. Just not my style. It’s not like I was horrified or anything, I just thought it fell short in this video. This tiny snap shot I viewed of her in THIS song I was reacting to. I’m sure she’s great where she’s from, and she’s young too and has time to really come into her own. I just hate seeing young girls so sexualized in this industry and I think that’s where some of the discontent came from honestly. Which had more to do with the production than it did with her. Just my opinion. Sorry not sorry. Like I said, I still love voiceplay. Just not a huge fan of hers or k-pop at this time I guess. And that’s ok. She doesn’t need to be my cup of tea because clearly she’s other peoples’ cup. That’s the bittersweet beauty of the internet and the times we live in. I’m not everyone’s cup of tea either. I get stupid hate daily for no reason. It’s just what it is. 💁🏻♀️

I would respectfully disagree. Ashley is absolutely brilliant, but the character of Jinx isn't just attitude. She borderline crazy/psychotic, has PTSD, probably has ADHD, and more, but still is emotionally a child . And AleXa conveyed Jinx to us. Ashley in my opinion wouldn't have conveyed the borderline crazy/psychotic but vulnerability that Jinx had, and the way AleXa did.
