Yep... That was Geoff showing some more of his 5 octave range.... When it comes to AleXa she reached out to vp to do a joint project. She was in Korea, so they recorded separately and edited it all so that it appeared she was there. To be fair, if vp did a copy of the song then it wouldn't be vp. I personally love that they bring in other voices. It really mixes things up... Saying that I genuinely love the arrangements of just the men too... More vp and Geoff please. 😊

yes that was Geoff that hit the high note the... he has a 5+ octave range one of the reasons for Alexa is because she is cosplaying JinX from the series that this song is the opener from "Arcane"

You know that VP are the 'theatre kids' of a cappella. They are cos-playing characters from Arcane - at least Cesar and Alexa are - which is why she is the perfect fit for this cover. She is the crazy - literally - character of Jinx. And I think the rest of VP was looking at her directly at the end...as an Enemy.

As long as you are on an Imagine Dragons kick, look up Warriors by VoicePlay. AleXa is a K-Pop singer - won Best American Song a couple of months ago. She's American and half S. Korean. Now she is living in S. Korea but wanted to do something with VoicePlay who agreed. She did her recording in S. Korea and sent it in. Eli incorporated it into the master video. AleXa is playing the JinX character in Arcane, Cesar is Ecco, and I don't know enough to tell you Geoff's, Layne, or Eli's parts. People who are hooked on the anime show love AleXa in this role.

One thing I really like about VoicePlay is that they don’t try to copy the original. Geoff has been quoted as saying we aren’t karaoke singers. If they can’t bring something new to the piece they won’t do it. While I appreciate that you think the original deeper voice coveys the gist of this song, I have to respectfully disagree. I think that they each have their own strengths I personally like this better partly because Jinx is the main character and she is THE enemy. So to me it’s more appropriate that she is singing this. But they are both great pieces of music. I think we’re just coming at it from different directions. You do have to remember that they are doing a cover with their own interpretation. They are not trying to copy the original. Sometimes I find that if reactors have a particular attachment to a song they want it to sound just like the original, and that will not ever happen when you listen to voice play.

Geoff goes up high, but the riff above was done by AleXa. She is a K-Pop star, born in Oklahoma, now living in South Korea, and just won the American Song contest. She approached Voiceplay about a collaboration. It was all filmed on green screen and Eli did the magic to put them all together. Great reaction!!

Yes, the really high part with the panning was mostly Alexa... but Geoff starts it and she only goes slightly higher than even Geoff's highest note before the hand-off of the riff. Absolutely brilliantly done.

You’re the first reactor that I’ve seen mention Geoff traveling up to those higher notes. Granted I feel like at least one or two others have likely noticed it, based on facial expressions at that point in the video, but probably weren’t confident enough to point it out. I’m glad you called it out. Geoff’s range is incredible. I support the other comments suggesting Geoff’s solo work as well, you can’t go wrong with any of them.

I wasn't sure about AleXa in this arrangement at first because she has a light soprano voice compared to the belting tenors. But what really made me like her in this was watching some videos of Jinx and then rewatching this. And to me she became Jinx singing along with the group. She totally embodied the character of Jinx. In her looks, facial expressions, and mannerisms. So I definitely encourage you if you haven't to watch some videos of Jinx and them rewatch. It might help.

Geoff's range is 5 octaves - next to last key on the piano, B0 up to A5 (note above top of treble clef). So yes it is Geoff.

Her voice is a counterpoint, you use it in music to accent and bring out the flavors of the baritone and bass singers, and Geoff has a five octave range so yes it was him in the part you were asking. They were looking for balance not over powering.

Geoff sings the high part up to a point ("My enem-eeeeeeee-eeee-eeee-eeee"), but then right about the time you say "He's still going", is when he hands the high part off to AleXa and returns to the subwoofer cave from whence he came. I imagine a good part of the reason they chose AleXa for this, is because they wanted somebody who could convincingly portray the psycho chick who is apparently the main character in the show. (I haven't seen it -- TV shows based on video games are very definitively not my thing -- so I'm not 100% on the details.) As far as deep/powerful voices, between Geoff and Eli and Layne, I think they've got that covered, honestly. (I omit Cesar from the list not because he _can't_ sing that way, but because in this song he goes for light and ethereal instead; I assume this is deliberate.)

Ya, I think if you would have watched the show Arcane(this song is the "theme song" for that show) you would understand why they chose AleXa. To be honest, I think their version is actually better than the Imagine Dragons version. They play with the song more. As you said, the lead singer of ID has a powerful low/mid range voice. For me, I like more of a range in the singing for songs. Thats why I've never really liked groups that only have one singer. It just gets a little boring, especially when they only do powerful arrangements. Voiceplay's cover doesn't just do "power" vocals. It keeps your ears engaged throughout the whole song.
