Jose has also been featured in their other pirate video “Hoist The Colors” from Pirates of the Caribbean and the Viking song “My Mother Told Me”. Drunken Sailor is just an old sea shanty.

This song has been around since at least the 1820s, originally as a work song on ships. If this is your first time hearing Jose, you're in for a treat with Hoist the Colors (a song written for Pirates of the Caribbean 3) and My Mother Told Me, arguably a prequel to Valhalla Calling. Jose has performed with the touring company of Hamilton, among many other credits. He performed with Cesar in high school, graduating two years ahead of Cesar. He is based in Florida, close enough to Orlando that he has helped VP out when a featured performer is unable to follow through as planned. Another singer was supposed to be in Hoist the Colors, for example, but I can't imagine it with anyone but Jose. That's one of VPs talents -- making any guest singer seem like they've always been part of the group, and the video turns out exactly as they had planned no matter what challenges crop up or how they have to pivot. After the intense songs like Creep and Nothing Else Matters, I'm so glad they did this goofy, silly video, full tilt into what Geoff calls their special brand of dumb. And reminding us why they're "the theater kids of a capella."

Mead is a fairly strong liquor made from honey. Sometimes called honey wine, but I can tell you from experience, it is more like honey whisky!

Really enjoyed your reaction . They play the music and sing while filming. On this one someone was laughing out loud behind the camera. That's when you know...There is another verse used in some versions of this song "Have you seen the Captain's daughter ?" You can imagine different things that could actually mean. For different styles you may want to browse around the earlier videos on their channel everything from Disney to pop, ACA Top 10s to Broadway My Shot from Hamilton then later The Wicked Medley, videos from the Sing Off Tour they were on with Home Free and The Filharmonic , The Part Work series has some amazing things, can't pick a bad one. Awesome reaction you two. They sing and record everything in their individual studios and then arrangement them together. Then when their filming they play the final recording while they act and lip sing. Geoff told Bucky the story line and told him to ad lib his part. Bucky Buckham was a member of Voiceplay waaaaaaay back when they were 4:2:Five in the mid 2000s for a short time. They changed to Voiceplay in 2012. Bucky can also be seen in 2 if their minis.... Candy Crush and I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles). Both he plays a mall shopper.

@@RNTV You're very welcome 🤗. Very few people know who he is. His channel is mostly gaming. But he does voiceovers for Disney World as well. So he stops every now and then to say hi. If the guys make a part for him and he has the time they ask him to join. Such as this and the 2 minis. By the way. All their minis are just as awesome as their regular videos. Love this one. Mead is made from honey, and traditionally it's more likely to be a bit sour than sweet. Maybe they're drinking grog - under British rules sailors got their "measure of grog" daily as part of their pay.... up until 1970. Grog was whatever alcoholic drink was on hand, mixed with water, sometimes w/ lemons or lime added (to prevent scurvy) or sugarcane or honey (to make it palatable.) In the old days the water was undrinkable after they'd been at sea for awhile, algae and slime ruined it. So they added alcohol and the slime problem was avoided. Things you never wanted to know...

Mead is generally 3 ingredients at minimum; fermented honey, water and yeast. Some is made with grains, spices, or fruits. Mead is the oldest known alcoholic beverage by thousands of years. Bucky our drunken sailor here used to be part of 4:2:five before they became VoicePlay. He also shows up in one of VPs shorts/minis. Have you done Folsom Prison Blues - Geoff solo?

I am in the process of making my fourth gallon of mead. Prior to now all I have used in the making of it has been yeast, honey and water. It's npt bad, but not the greatest drink I have ever had. The batch I have going right now it have some blueberries in to kick up the flavor, Love your reaction as always!

"Drunken Sailor" is an old sea shanty, a melody used to help sailors perform tasks that required timing and/or rhythmic cooperation - like raising an anchor or raising or furling sails. I remember singing several verses in elementary school music class, but our verses were a little bit more generic and less raunchy. But there are probably dozens of verses that have been made for it, and I'd guess that a lot of them were even more gross and raunchy than these were! Mead (fermented honey) is probably something more common for a Viking video. Rum would normally be the drink used by sailors, especially those in the British navy for several hundred years.

When you have so many people trying to work on the same thing, having a rhythm to it is always more efficient. Meade is a wee bit like beer, I don´t like beer, but meade is ok. You can´t by it in stores, at least not here in Sweden. But you can make it at home, if you can get ahold of the ingredients. I do have two different recipies, one is with homey in it, haven´t made that one.

Everything suggested to do to the drunken sailor is a punishment. Shaving with a rusty razor would result in infection, possibly tetanus...the "captain's daughter" is a whip for flogging...the scupper is a drain in the side of the ship, used for effluent as well as rainwater. Because while sailors might drink when ashore, they're supposed to remain sober when aboard so they can do their job right - jobs that could jeopardize everyone aboard if they screw up. So the song is a warning about all the nasty things that are likely to happen if a sailor becomes drunk while aboard the ship.

@@RNTV Bummer with Ren but I understand you. As for Electric Callboy I would start with "Hypa Hypa", the song that started the hype back when Corona was just starting. The band released the song at a perfect time when people just wanted a little bit fun again. After that either "We got the moves" or "Pump it". They all have the same vibe. For another song with a different vibe I would choose "MC Thunder". A song about a guy (played by German youtuber/streamer HandofBlood) that steals a Cadillac and drives around with it. And if you want to give one of the serious tracks a try I would choose "Mindreader" Lyrics are always in the description.
