@@Cpperk95 The song is officially the tale of the binding of Calypso and of the Brethern Court. So, I don't know what Blackbeard's ship had to do with it. In any case, below is my analysis. *The Chorus:* _Yo ho, haul together_ _Hoist the colors high_ _Heave ho, thieves and beggars_ _Never shall we die_ The chorus is sung numerous times within the song. It's basically telling the pirates, full of thieves and beggers, to get ready to set sail. The lyrics here are obvious in meaning. *First verse:* _The King and his men_ _stole the Queen from her bed_ _and bound her in her bones_ The King is Davy Jones and the Queen is Calypso. He and his crew stole her from her bed which is the ocean itself. They bound her in her bones which refers to binding her to her human form. _the seas be ours and by the powers_ _where we will we'll roam_ The seas literally belongs to the pirates due to having power over Calypso. *Second verse:* _Now some have died_ _and some are alive_ _and others sail on sea_ This is a reference to the chorus of the song, which mention the pirates as thieves and beggars. This part of the verse is obvious in meaning. _with the keys to the cage_ _and the Devil to pay_ The "keys" to the cage are the nine Pieces of Eight, which were used to bind Calypso. The Devil may refer to Davy Jones himself since he's the one that told the Brethren Court how to bind her. _we lay to Fiddler's Green._ Fiddler's Green is an after-life of paradise for sailors where a fiddle never stops playing, but in the POTC universe, it is a tavern located in Davy Jones' locker (probably has a fiddle playing inside to fit the narrative). *Third verse:* _The bell has been raised_ _From it's watery grave..._ _Do you hear it's sepulchral tone?_ _A call to all_ _Pay head the squall_ _And turn your sails to home!_ This entire verse may refer to the scene of POTC where the pirates sing their song, and the Brethren Court is summoned to join together. A "all pirates unite" type of moment.

This song is from one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, don't know which one. I search for a clip and saw something about a mass hanging of pirates, so this song starts out serious. And VP's arrangement is breathtaking and haunting. Home Free delved into the world of pirates about 5 months ago with the wonderful Sea Shanty Medley, but theirs was more lighthearted, with Tim looking like Jack Sparrow with a tankard in his hand and Austin waving around a sword. This one, however is much more serious. The pirate drag is much more grim and their look, with scars and dirt, says these pirates have led a dangerous life. Took me all of 3 seconds to fall totally in love with this song. But I still love Sea Shanty too

This song has been a reactor-killer, and for good reason! It has to be one of VoicePlay's best performances to date. The entire thing, from top to bottom, is just spectacular- I didn't know Cesar has that degree of performance in him! (He was the pirate top right, with the blind eye) That was a delightful surprise, and of course, Eli can bring the rock wail any time he wants; he's such a vocal monster. Geoff- well, he's Geoff, and I know you caught that 2 octave leap up from the depths that he does towards the end of the song. I loved that we got to hear some more of Layne's vocals as well as his percussion- always a welcome treat. And Jose- he seems to show up on their epic pieces! I don't know him as well, but he's a solid, strong baritone, and he fits in with our guys. Impressive talent, all of them.

Nice reaction!! Getting to know Voiceplay, starting from the top left: 1) Cesar De La Rosa-new guy, very impressive. Can’t wait to see more. 2) Jose Rosario Jr. Featured Guest-NEEDS to become a member because he adds a timbre that enriches the sound SO much-plus he’s a hell of an actor. 3) Eli (Ellie) Jacobsen. Has a gorgeous high tenor that he can color to fit his characters, and he has a huge range in terms of his acting. He’s gotten credit for some arrangement work as well. He doesn’t get enough attention from reviewers. 4) Layne Stein. Beatbox guy, plus a great baritone, and seems like he has the most fun with all this. He also plays violin, drums, and does a lot of the arrangements, so he’s musically incredible. 5) Geoffrey Castelluci, that silky Basso profundo, but can belt high notes with the best of them. He gets a lot of attention because of his jaw-dropping low notes, which have registered on the Richter Scale, miles from the studio. He also arranged this piece, which ranks him right up there with Layne in terms of genius. Yeah, I’m nuts about this group, too. Can’t wait to see more. (And by the way, that “Jesus” bit you accidentally clicked on? That’s Voiceplay, too, also with Jose Rosario, and if you haven’t reacted yet, you really should. It’s awesome too.)

Specifically it's from the 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean. Usually Layne (the beat boxer sitting next to Geoff) or Geoff do the arranging. He who does the arranging also does the video and audio. Layne is partners with a previous VoicePlay person, Tony, who did the VP Phantom of the Opera, anyway the two have a studio where they do all the sets. Geoff did work for Disney and Universal Studio so a lot experience for all the staging. Eli (like jelly) is the tenor with the heavy metal voice power, Cesar other tenor, took the opening left by Earl (Queen in 5 Minutes) who is taking care of some medical issues. The 5th member is/was J.None who joined the Navy. He came back for Friends on the Other Side. In the meantime, VP features various singers, in this case Jose Rosario, Jr who also makes an appearance in My Mother Told Me. I also recommend We Don't Talk About Bruno featuring Ashley Diane.
