Both groups are great! They have remained friends since the SingOff. Rob, Tim and Chris have all been in VoicePlay videos. I think you will like Just Sing from VoicePlay; it includes nearly all their former members and collaborators. Elvira and the Butts Remix are songs of Home Free that Geoff arranged and Layne arranged with the Rupp brothers.

They have indeed remained friends! If you watch the Home Free rendition of Elvira, featuring the Oak Ridge Boys, you'll see at the end of the video that Geoff Castellucci did the arrangement for that.

Some voiceplay videos you should watch are : "Moana Medley, Little Mermaid Medley, how the Grich stole christmas, oogie boogie song from nightmare before christmas, can't help falling in love, queen in 5 minutes, boy bands in 5 minutes and hoist the colors"!! There are a ton more videos too but these will be food to get you started!!

Voiceplay has many member changes the current setup is Geoff Eli Layne all present in this video and a guy called Cesar . The women present is not a full-time member and was with them in the singoff and cane back for this to do the battle as they were suppose to on the singoff against home free but never got the chance as they were voted off but the groupes liked the idea they did it themselves .

This was something they worked up while they were on the same season of The Sing Off. They still collaborate behind the scenes occasionally and you'll see some Home Free guest appearances and cameos in various Voiceplay videos. Check out Voiceplay's fundraiser video "Just Sing" for example (captions on to see all the guests named). Voiceplay has been through some lineup changes over the years since this, but always manage to find extremely talented new members and guests. If you're a Disney buff, they have a ton of great medleys, but recently covered "We Don't Talk About Bruno". The same guest singer in that also guested in "If I Were a Rich Man/Girl" - a mashup of a Broadway musical and Gwen Stephani's version.

This video came around from when they were on the Sing Off if I'm not mistaken. It was one of the song practiced in case they were in the bottom 2 and had to do to see who would go to the next round. They did this on the Sing Off tour live. Enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.

Instead, Home Free ended up going against The Phil-Harmonic (I think that's what they were called), and did an excellent version of I'm Alright.

Super nice reaction 🙂, I enjoyed it a lot. Both of them are great, and they're friends since the SingOff... Some times, members of Home Free appear in Voiceplay videos and viceversa. 🙂 Home Free are said to be the "country boys" of the "a cappella" trifecta, while Voiceplay are the "theatre kids". Then there are the "pop" guys, Pentatonix. All three groups are great, each one in its own way. 😁 Voiceplay had some changes in the lineup, in the last couple years. The only remaining founders are Geoff (the bass... He's incredible, and Tim Foust from Home Free taught him about some techniques) and Layne (the beatboxer, who's also a very nice baritone). They lost Earl, "laser tenor", who left for personal reasons (rumours have it being some health scare), and J None, who left last year to join the Navy and sing with them... But was back for their version of "Friends on the Other Side". J None was replaced by Cesar de la Rosa, another guy with an incredible, smooth "light baritone" voice. Eli (the bald tenor) kinda took the place (and the tones) of Earl. They always feature some other artists for their videos, as the fifth place is still vacant. Omar Cardona features quite often, as well as Josè Rosario Jr., and then there are incredible female singer guests like Emoni Wilkins, Rachel Potter, Ashley Diane... You could start from any of their videos, they're all extremely good. Yet, I'd suggest to explore both their theatrical stuff (like Oogie Boogie Song, This is Halloween, Friends on the Other Side, and more) and their more musical stuff (like "Can't help falling in love with you", "True Colours", "Superstition", and many others), without forgetting their "video game-based" things like the Halo theme - and you just have to listen to the second part of the video, where they explain the reasons behind it - , or The Dragonborn Comes, or My Mother Told Me...). But whatever you'll pick is good. Their last video is an incredible cover of Aerosmith's "Dream On". 🙂

Some Home Free essentials are End of the Road and When a Man Loves a Woman. A few other great songs are Folson Prison Blues, Blue Ain't Your Color, Fishing in the Dark / Boondocks, Hillbilly Bone, and My Church. Their newest song is Ain't Going Down Til the Sun Comes Up. It's only on Facebook right now but Adam goes crazy with his "Harmonica".

You can’t go wrong with Home Free. Especially their quarantine songs. They took a bad situation and made the best of it. Another group to check out is State of Mine they do heavy metal covers of songs. They’ve done Gangstas paradise, the Thunder rolls and some other.

VoicePlay has improved a LOT since this. My personal favorite of everything they've done is Hoist the Colours, but they've done a lot of great stuff lately. Geoff has really stepped up his bass game, to see what I mean, check out Oogie Boogie Song or Dragonborn Comes, or Sixteen Tons (which is on his solo channel). Layne, meanwhile, has been doing some really innovative stuff with the vocal percussion, check out Dream On, Enemy, We Don't Talk About Bruno. For Eli's rock star voice check out Queen in 5 Minutes, Hoist the Colours, Dream On, or Carry On Wayward Son. J-None, when he was with them, did some amazing stuff, e.g. check out Friends on the Other Side. And now Cesar has been absolutely killing the high vocals, particularly in Dream On and Enemy.

You need to check out Home Free's performances on season 4 of the Sing-Off, preferably with the judges' comments. VoicePlay was on the same season. Their performances are probably on KZbin, too.

If you like the humor - try a blast from the past when VoicePlay was on Sing-Off at the same time as Home Free and PTX. Look for Road Trip (with 9 million views since there are 2 others from on tour). Another good one is Just Sing which features all the singers and what they have done that have worked with them. Make sure captions are on for this so you know who everyone is (although I'm sure you will recognize Tim). Rob shows up in ACA Top 10 Movie Themes.

I'll tell you who's the winner here: us! I love both groups, so this is ice cream and chocolate to me. VoicePlay do a lot of film songs - my faves are Oogie Boogie's Song (from The Nightmare Before Christmas) and We Don't Talk About Bruno (from Encanto), but both work best if you've seen the original. That's less important when they do a medley (Moana and Little Mermaid are my choices). If you're not so interested in film songs there are others like Boy Bands in Five Minutes or Queen in Five Minutes. Just like with Home Free I could go on for ages, though! Enjoy the rabbithole.

I love Home Free... And VP. But to claim that HF have "so much more versatility" just seems a bold statement to me. 🙂 VP go (and are at ease with them all) from Queen to Disney to "classic" pop songs to video games soundtracks to iconic rock songs ("Dream on", anyone? 😉) to Broadway songs and medleys to boy bands to ACA Top Tens to pretty much whatever else. One can like their style or not, that's a different thing and it's not important... But they are enormously versatile. :)
