Voices for the Voiceless | Sonic the Hedgehog Character Fan-Casts

Many Sonic characters have never had a voice, be it because they're from a comic, a silent era, or came from a text-based game. Or Emerl where he came from a text-based game and got put into an anime but they didn't get enough info on the character and it was the one thing they did wrong and he never got a voice, that too.
So after months of work I've put together an organized fan-cast video for some of the most loved characters from the classic and modern eras, as well as the comics. Thanks to Sonic the Server and my Tumblr followers for letting me know which characters from the comics specifically were most loved because I'm not fan-casting every Archie character are you insane.

I see what you mean, and I’m sure it’s just a personal preference but I tend to imagine Eclipse’s voice as a mix between shadow’s and silver’s, or sorta like Jevil’s (deltarune). The dialogue boxes to me just look like they’re reflecting his odd eyes, but yeah I can see why it’s supposed to imply a demonic tone. Though if anyone has a young Black Doom voice it would probably be Black Death.

Sweet chaos, every voice here sounds so awesome with the characters!! I've always wanted to know what would Emerl sound like, because whenever you start collecting chaos emeralds for him to evolve, I imagined he'd repeat recordings of voice clips from the others while learning stuff ^^ Edit: one of my favorite parts of the Sonic fighters story mode was the ending of Knuckles' when he tells Emerl not to tell Sonic about him being tricked by Eggman again. "Hey! Sonic! Hey, Sonic! Guess what! It's a secret, but Knuckles got fooled by Eggman again!"

Unfortunately, Mina, Julie-Su, Scourge and Fiona are owned by Ken "Total Douchebag" Penders and thus SEGA can't use them unless they pay him for their use, which I can tell you won't be happening anytime soon. Also, they can't use Shade because he filed a lawsuit and raised a big stink about her, claiming they were copying his echidna characters. Unless by some miracle SEGA could buy these characters and take them off Penders's hands, we won't be seeing them in the foreseeable future. Which is real shame because it would be nice to see these characters make an official appearance in the Sonic media.

Unfortunately, that's as far as I got because the place that sold comics near where I live stopped putting Sonic comics out. So, I missed out on several issues before they were cancelled.

The IDW artists who designed him designed him with that thought, however I said in the disclaimers I wouldn't be voice casting via accent, since most VAs can do many accents. I never found clips for any of the options that had a British accent :(

For Whisper, I thought Xanthe Hyunh would be a great choice. Given that she is, well, whispering most of her lines, the lightness Xanthe can do with her voice would suit the character well. Also with Whisper aloof half the time, it makes me think her voice for Marianne (FE3H) would work.

Yeah, I don't think that's correct. The only games she appeared in are Dash and Forces Speed Battle and neither have voices. Even if they're interpolating Evan's Avatar who became Whisper, the avatar was voiced by Aoi Yuki. Still wouldn't be bad from what I've heard of her.

I've always read Emerl's dialogue with the voice of Robert Picardo, who voiced AMAZO in the DCAU. It's a softer, fairly calm voice, with an odd cadence, befitting his alien nature and power. When he gets angry it's still fairly contained and level, and he could perfectly play both Emerl's early uncertainty and curious nature, and his later more mature and introspective outlook. He could also adopt others' mannerisms fairly well, like Emerl does throughout the story. Gemerl I would give the same, but heavily modulated early on, with the effects being reduced more and more throughout the story, as he becomes more and more like his original counterpart (best shown when he stops standing around stiffly and adopts Sonic's neutral posture from Battle midway through Advance 3's plot), until he finally loses it entirely and sounds just like a raspier, angrier Emerl during the final stages of the game. Not sure how I would handle his voice after the rebuild though, because we've gotten two very different takes on that from the same writer- Archie basically cast him as "Emerl, Reborn (Please forget that Cream is a minor character in Battle and Emerl's actual bonds were with Sonic and Shadow first)", while IDW makes him... distinctly less lifelike. I would guess that SEGA told Ian to do that. So he's probably _not_ meant to be Emerl, but I dunno, I think his whole deal works better when he _is_ an Emerl that came back wrong.

These are some great picks, excellent work! Though I've also dabbled with making some fan casts and wondered if you'd agree with some of my picks. Namely I think that Brianna Knickerbocker would make a great Surge, specifically using her take on Roxie in Pokemon Masters. As for Kit I was thinking of Kyle McCarley, as he's proven he can do a youthful voice and can turn it completely unhinged. Lemme know what you think!

Personally I wouldn't choose Colleen for Kit. I think Brittney Karbowski is a better pick. Kit is a reflection of Tails and I would want him to sound different from Tails.

I actually thought JAT for Mighty too! Ben Schwartz would probably make a decent Ray given his role as Movie Sonic Also I always picture Daffy Duck's VA over Bean the Dynamite Duck. Also Metal Sonic had a VA in Sonic Heroes
