Tim great hearing from you again. Lewis Johnson was my adopted father and personal friend. He is one of the first WWII Veterans I interviewed 20 years ago when I started my work. So glad you got to watch this. He's featured in several of my other films.

Thanks Larry for another outstanding interview. Also I’d like to thank Lewis for his participation in what I believe to be the biggest operation in history. He said nothing heroic but without every man willing to do his/her part, that brought the War to a Victory for all Allied Forces. God Bless those that lost their lives and those that made it home to their families. Always watching from Panama City Florida, USA. 🇺🇸

Kirby, always great hearing from you. How far are you from Orlando? It looks like I'll be coming down to interview some veterans soon. Lewis was my adopted Father. I miss him dearly. We did so much together, especially in the schools across this country. God bless you!!

As with all the other comments, Larry….this interview is outstanding. I’ve said it at least a dozen times. But, I’ll say it again. Thank you for everything you do, Larry. This contribution is growing more and more important with each passing day. There’s a horribly painful irony that as of the date of this comment, our country and the freedoms that define it, are the most threatened they’ve ever been, in it’s history.

This one was great, there arent that many Interviews about the actual landing. A very nice men with a great personality! To stand in front of your "own" Gravestone, i cant imagine how that feels.. in mean, it could have been his Gravestone very easy. He was there, but fortunately he survived. Do you have more interviews with this Gentleman? About sicily or africa? Could listen to him for hours! I bet he was one of the nicest people, you can ever met. Thank you, for your Work!

I agree with Larry when he says military service should be mandatory. Children need discipline and structure. Lord knows, I did not have either of those things and my life has been a struggle.

Chris, I have felt guilty too for not serving in the military. My life has also been a struggle. I lost my Father when I was only 10. He served during Korea.

Another interview that I could have listened to forever. Larry, I don’t know how you do it! I listened to this one while taking care of the horses this evening and could barely see through the tears to get back to the house. Actually, Every one of the interviews are like that and you somehow never seem to waver! How do you do it?

Very powerful story. Sad part today is that this generation of young people take for granted all the sacrifices that were made so they could be free. In Evansville Indiana we have the lst 325 permanently docked on the Ohio river. Before I lost my ability to walk I was fortunate to go on a tour of the vessel.
My neighbor was in the 29th and on that ship D-day. He was shot in the wrist and leg a couple of minutes after getting to shore.

Make up?...Sheeesh?...He alREADY looks 20-25 yrs younger than he is? ☺ As a boomer, raised on movie portrayal of WW2, which RARELY depicted the human suffering. Lewis provided such great detail mentioning the factions of that suffering, I mean even the smallest of which I never considered?... which kinda makes ya "embarrassed" for not considering ?..Like I would have for Vietnam?..(hard to explain) Ive even seen the "Band of Brothers" series many times BUT? still revere the WW2 Vets as 10ft tall/bullet proof? I watched this twice, and prolly will aGAIN to keep reinforcing the REALITY,(not hollywood) of the blood bought sacrifices which paved the way for me to have PEACE & FREEDOM all of my 63 yrs.😎
