I was born and raised in the Burley/Rupert, Idaho area. In 1973 I was 9 years old. My parents took me to Lt. Col. Chesley's homecoming parade in Burley, and then on to the Burley High School gymnasium to hear him speak. That gym was PACKED. It was a really big deal for the community, and I'm glad I was there. I'm now 61. Thank you for your service to our country, Sir.

@@VoicesofHistory I talked to my dad today, who was born in 1937, one year before Lt. Col. Larry Chesley. Dad watched this video today. He remembers Chesley from high school at Burley HS. He didn't know him personally, but he remembers him. He really liked your video!

❤God bless you and your service. I’m so sorry for what you endured. I will never understand how heroes like you made it out of Vietnam. I’m so glad you did!!!! My father was a combat medic in the Korean War. He made it home, but I know throughout his life, he was scarred from his living frozen hell. God rest his soul. Veterans hold a very special place in my heart. ❤

As a kid, and later a very young teenager I had a POW bracelet that one of my Aunt's had got for me. I still have it. I have previously seen some interviews with the POW's but this story really brought so much to light. God bless them all and thank you for what you went through for us. Welcome home.
