Just the expressions on these musicians’ faces, the pure joy of performing and hearing the beauty that they’re producing. It’s mesmerizing. Lucky are those who are able to find this in their life

I had to listen to it five times in a row and felt like replaying it another five times, the melodies, the singers and the oboe so perfect and the text so fitting to our life

As the Enlightenment movement in art and thought was dawning on the West the simple things in life were rediscovered by the artists, and Handel was one delightful example of such spirit, it feels simplistic to our ears but it was astonishment to the Eighteenth century.

I think when Handel wrote this piece he had in mind these two voices to sing it. Amanda has the perfect 'Handel voice'. And Thomas matches her

The performance is creamy, sensuous, uplifting, transcendent. Shakespeare’s piercing illuminations into ourselves. The brilliance of Handel. That these gifts prevail to this day, that we can hear and see such radiant performances as this, as all of VoM’s, is a bloody miracle, what all considered. Be thankful.

James Bell Agree absolutely with 46 words of your brilliant 47 word review; the 47th word (an adjective), is completely inappropriate, inaccurate and simply wrong!

Was so captivated by the music, that I only now read the libretto - the Age of Enlightenment indeed! Makes me proud to belong to the human race. Gives me hope in the bleak current geopolitical environment : the war in Ukraine, domestic difficulties and discontent, that will use our reason to end war, poverty, tyranny and all those cancers on the body politic.

In addition to simply loving the ensemble--Forsythe and Cooley made themselves part of a seamless, gorgeous whole,--I have another idiosyncratic appreciation: the synchronized knee -bending of March Schachman and Anna Marsh, baroque oboe & bassoon. Their harmonious physical experience of the music is right there in the dance.
The singing and the instrumentation is just sublime. You've brought some joy into the world during these dark times. The morn truly steals upon the night. Thank you so much.
