This is the best baroque flute player to have ever lived. It’s really a world of textures, colors, flavors, senses, and more. Every time I listen to this I hear and notice soemthing new. The attacks and releases and spacing of the tempo make this so much more tender and human and not robotic like some of the other renditions of this delicate work.

wow the music is dancing, finally i get why allemande is a form of dance... i can feel the pulsing bounce! one of the best performance so far, phrasing is so critical in bach.

I had the privilege to talk with her after a concert in Turkey. She played wonderfully at that concert too. Such a nice and humble person. She told me about tuning and which instruments she can play. Such a master.

At last, a flutist who understands that an Allemande is a SLOW dance. We have much to learn from the violin partitas in this regard. And, not every phrase from start to finish needs to end on the downbeat of the next measure, rather than allowing it to become the first beat of the next phrase. Bravo.

I like everything, the sound and the color, the speed of time, the articulation, the control and the way to play relaxed and in last, but in first in order of importance, the emotions that arouses.

WOW! Wonderful tone, and such a peaceful, lovely interpretation! This Allemande is often played at "high speed" on metal flutes - but this sounds very much better! Thankyou!

It does totally sound better Kristin Jacobsen than the high speed version played on the boehm style C flute.

you can definitely say why this piece was written for flute.. illuminating sound.... flute can only play a single note but in this piece the sounds are multiplying and illuminating.
@BlueYiperoo8 жыл бұрын
Kate Clark, I love the way played the allemande from the Partita in A minor. I like the way you play the song slower than what I have heard it played and love the baroque flute which is in my very humble opinion very appropriate for Bach and other composers of the baroque period. Thank you for bringing your music to us.

I'm blown away. I'm a recorder player who wishes he could play the flute, I think my mouth is shaped wrong. Hearing it with this continuo combo is so wonderful.
@SierraNovemberKilo3 ай бұрын
I played both and always preferred the recorders. I had a set of beautiful wooden recorders (verboten now apparently!) The air is indeed passed over the hole in a different way.

I was told my upper lip was not shaped for flute. I still practice and love flute. I don't have a very round embrochure for the top octave. Don't let anyone tell you you can't do something because of your body. Practice harder. Play different.

@@carpediemarts705 thank you so much for the encouraging words. I do play a number of other instruments at a high level, am starting some new instruments, and am returning to some I used to play frequently. I"m afraid I never met an instrument I didn't like. Although the flute would be nice, I definitely do have an aptitude for some others.
