Nothing pleases me more these days Larry, then to hear stories and experiences of our veterans and I thank you so much for all you do! Thank you MSGT Tucker for your service and bringing supplies to my Marine brothers at Khe Sahn! From a Marine Corps veteran (1971-1975). Semper Fi!😊

@VoicesofHistory thank you for this! Bob is my grandpa and this is amazing to see. He never was a big talker about his time in Vietnam.

I had been looking for crows foot wrenches to use working on the Cocoa Beach shuttle. I gave up. Right afterwards a guy shows up on a walker and holding a Publix shopping bag. He says, do you remember me? I says, I remember you but don’t remember why or how. He says, well two years ago I was on my way to the hospital and you did something for me. I promised ya I would do something for you when I get out. I’m out. Here ya go. He hands me the bag. It was full of crows foot wrenches. Tell me there ain’t no God, huh.. I look at these wrenches and immediately notice they are mil spec. I mention that. Bob says, yeah, I used em when I was in. I asked where he served. He says, well, in 1958 I was flying over S.E. Asia. I says, hold on, we were not committed in 1958. If you were flying there then you had to be with cia. Bob clams up. I says, ever heard of Air America? He smiled and mentioned how he flew the mandarin express for our country. To be clear, Bob built the first AC 47. He had been on the tarmac and overheard a couple Colonels discussing the need for a freighter that could orbit for hours and provide withering fire. Bob turned around and said to them, see all the C47’s ya got sitting there? Gimme one an I’ll show ya. I posses photos that Bob gave me. The morning after they saved the green beret base they received a call from the green beret captain. He said, y’all saved our bacon, we wanna do something for ya. Officer of the plane says nah, all good. Bob says wait, I want the American flag from that base. Shortly afterwards, a helicopter landed. The green beret captain exited and presented the flag to Bob. That flag is at the veterans museum on Merritt Island. Bob, the national treasure and my friend, I love him.

Oh my! This gentleman is a treasure. Amazing all the things he remembers. He’s lucky to be alive. Viet Nam was such a political mess.
